Home Security Issue, Somewhat Serious

Why the condescending attitude Dongle? It's not paranoia if someone calls repeatedly asking the same question at different times of day from the same number. It's not an accident or a coincidence. That's a far cry from checking the blinds every time a car drives past. I'd be watching my 6 pretty closely too if that shit was happening to me. Home invasions happen all the time and are statistically higher when drug activity may be involved.

I'd just answer one final call with a very clear message that I know what's up, I'm well armed and if they want to risk their lives over some junk then I'm going to stop answering the calls entirely and we'll just see who has the biggest nutsack. Then hang up and get my number changed asap. Be ready just in case he calls your bluff. Odds are he won't. Thieves like that can only prey on the weak so they look for a weaker victim. Good luck whatever you do and be prepared. Don't ever let anyone call you paranoid for just paying attention.

set his ass up good, set your awnserng machine to say something like we will on vacation till tomorrow so if youre going to rob my house you better do it today, then wait in the bushes for them

or

call the landscapeing comapny first and ask them if they know the number

Video cameras outside of your home tell your neighbors your involved with drugs and are paranoid, unless you live in a 5 million dollar home in a gated community and you push a ferrari f430 or a bentley or something.

Just change your number and get some pitbulls inside and outside and feed them very little.

i never heard that one before, i was lived in a bad neighborhood (drugs had nothing to do with it) and i kept my cameras hidden, just put them high up in a window and their hard to see. we use to mess with kids that steal bikes, we'd just let them sit out there wait 10-15 minutes before some kids would come by, then we'd run out there and say hey wtf you doing

You want to be careful with home security systems. If you're not home and someone breaks in, the police will be all through your house when they get a report from the security company that there's been a break in.

You can program the security system to call anyone you like, including yourself. No need to involve a security company or police.

I just bought a nice Panasonic phone with lot's of programmable features. The new phones will let you block a number so it doesn't ring and goes direcly to the answering machine. I've been blocking out the nuisance telemarketers this way. I also rarely ever pick up on an unknown or blocked number.

Sounds like a legit concern, doing work on a house is a great way to see the lay out and what it is worth. I thought that a cell phone interceptor that cost around fifteen grand would be good for local security. You would know every call he makes, everything that is spoken...and even scan other numbers in the area, put in flag words like your address, name and things like that.

Quite illegal, but passive and hard to purchase unless you know someone very friendly in the intelligence/security business. They make a good one in India, it's just a computer with a program that anyone could write if they took the time...and a tiny cell phone antenna...I think you just need the program to scan through cell codes and an antenna to capture the frequencies.

People could use these to get private information, like drug deals, CC numbers, other things from calling banks like a hacker watching online activity...but it's great for counter surveillance, finding some undercover drug investigation talking about you!

Pretty sure cops even use their mobile computers on cellular frequencies and well, they use cells more than a radio!

How about not picking up the phone when the dude calls. Then he will most likely come over. He can talk with you, smith, and wesson.

The phone calls have ceased, finally. Its like the guy did not believe that the person he was looking for did not live at this number. I simply said that Luis does not live here, and the phone calls need to stop immediately. Though I will still be a little on edge, because the caller should have been able to process that information from the message on the answering machine. Wish me luck.

The thing that made this episdoe scary is that it was definitely NOT grow related. Just out of the blue this guy starts calling after I had several jobs done at the house. No grow, the veggies I spoke of had not been started until after the work was done. No trace of any grow, anywhere.

Something else that offers some nice phone security features is Google Voice (google.com/voice). You can create a number to forward to one or more of your phones, e.g., to home and cell. You can forward calls between your phones, screen calls/listen in, record/save calls, view call history, custom away messages, email/sms notification of calls. Pretty awesome for being free.

Actually had something similar happen to a friend. He had his ac/heater replaced and a new patio overhang put in. He had a closet grow going on at the time and worked full time so he wasn't there while they did the work, but was sure that they never saw anything and had it in a locked room. He also had a huge plasma screen and 3 game systems. Well he got calls to his land lines for 1 1/2 weeks at odd times everytime the person would hang up. One day he had to go to the doctor in the morning and took the day off, and hit me up since I was unempolyed at the time helping him with the grow to hit up a rillo and chill. I come over, I never parked at his house but down the street, so theres no cars in his drivewar. An hr after I get there the phone rings 2 times but we were hitting a massive bowl of dank that was cherried so didn't get the phone. 10 mins later the door nob on the back door starts to shake, me being paraniod thinks someones trying to break in so I grab this thick as book/textbook while still hitting on a newly rolled rillo and my friend went to his room quietly to get his bat. While my friend was quickly getting the bat the back door flys open and one guy steps in being followed by another guy both mexican, kinda a lower middle class area. I'm quickly getting to my feet and in my first step throw the book as hard as I can and it hits the kid smack in the face.
Besides being surprised to see someone he was quickly surprised by the book and in the hit stepped and fell backwards and hits his friend(the house is on a 6 inch rise). I quickly rushed forward yelling at my friend whos rushing into the room as I run and dive on the 2 mexican guys on the ground (at the time being 300lbs, still pretty big at 280). Needless to say a fight ensued until the guys managed to get away over the back fence but their legs got pretty fucked too trying to get over by my friends bat. Nothing has happened since.
A robber is a coward, why do you think he wants to make sure your not there hes more scared of you than you are of him. Fuck him if he has a gun if your strapped wait for the sucker I bet when the time comes if he has a gun if you get the drop on him youll scare him and thats when the cool mind takes the advantage.

Ps my friend could have killed both of them with the bat he had more than one chance to hit these guys in the head but never did only legs and midsection so its just the case of what your willing to do.

hope you all enjoyed the tale and hope it helps.

Good luck with it all, hope theres no more problems. It could very well be someone was calling a number one away from yours on the keypad too. Had to change the phone number once because it was close to frikken Walmart's number.

Hmmm...Maybe Luis called that guy from your phone, while they were working there...so he thought it was Luis's number??

Change the number or forwar it to your cell. It is quite possible someone is casing you. Install an alarm system, security cameras, etc.

yup, and maybe Luis owes this guy who is calling money or promised him a job or something... or Luis gave this guy the Op's number saying it was his for the same reasons...

in south america it is very usual that people who come work in your home, chieck a way to get in, they don't need to call every time to determine when you are in... if he calls at 5am it is because he wants to find you, unless he knows you work at 5am or something...anyway, I understand your paranoia; but very organize thieves don't call you, they just wait you out; where I live it is kind of crazy, can't reallt leave your home alone too long because someone will break-in, regardless of where in the country you live, it is just the way it has been for many decades out here now...

good luck
