Slick Rick's the man. I have yet to hear any UK rap that didn't make me laugh to be honest. Anyone ever hear that Fedayeen Regime shit? I'd definitely like to hear some quality UK ish.

i saw the fight klub with serius jones vs. jin, serius ripped that nigga ass!

j-live is rad hughie! i think he's got the one and only style that nobody can copy. theres a lot more to his lyrics than many emcees.

i just burned a j-love mixtape though :D that's wierd.

anybody ever heard mestizo and mike gao? really sick album im not joking!

Man I hear that. I haven't been to a Sluggo show in prolly 3 years but that mother fucker can rock the mic. I respect Slug, because if the crowd is live, he will stay on the stage until someone drags his ass off! Now that is what its all about!!!

I was at a Sage show a week ago, crowd was mad live, BEGGING him for one more song, he says peace and is out with the quickness. I lost some respect for Sage that night. He did put on one hellova show though. :joint:
yeah im still a fan of slug he just blew up real quick

sage show a week ago huh?
i almost went to a sage show too around the same time-i wonder if it was the same one? 20 or 25$?

anyone heard of grayskul? theyre pretty cool

i been into common a lot lately too

from the U.K i like Phi-Life Cypher.
from Spain i like 7notas7colores, Morodo, Hablando en Plata, Mala Rodriguez, Ojos de Brujo, a whole lot of other stuff, they have tons of hiphop there, though a lot is crap just like in the rest of the world.
from Chile i like Tiro de Gracia.
Pharcyde, Tupac, Bones Thugs and Harmony, Company Flow, The Roots, early Outkast mostly, some Quasimoto, early Mobb Deep, DJ Cam, DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, some stuff by Common, some things by Afu-Ra, Lauren Hill (especially. miseducation), Dead Prez, Roots Manuva...

is that good stuff or not?

$25, but worth it. :joint: grayskul, from washington right? There was about a year and a half span where they opened EVERY show I went to. A bunch of LLcrew shows, a few rhymesayers. I heard they were getting signed to Def Jux but that was probably 2-3 years ago.

braille is nice, just found out about that a few months ago. Been into common sense lately too. Down to earth rhymes.

Only place Ive heard mestizo is on Galapagos 4 mixtapes. This guy robust is pretty nice too, also on the G4 mixtapes.

Speaking of G4, I dont' think anyone have given props to Typical Cats yet, if youve been sleeping on the Typical Cats LP youve been missin out. Qwel (one of the typical cats) has some good solo ish too. Peep 'If it aint been in a pawn shop, it can't sing the blues' One of my favorite albums.

PS I still love sluggo, the man blessed the mic every time he touched it until around 02. After that the man started to fall off, but there are a couple tracks on 7s travels that I dig.

You have to remember that there is UK Hip Hop and UK Grime... similar in ways but the attitude is different.

While hip hop is more of a story telling vehicle with intelligence of wordplay. Grime is more of a hyped-up-say-whatever-comes-to-mind style with beats that sound like... grime! Such as Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Mr. Wong, N Double A and Roll Deep.

With the help of technology, hip hop has changed. It used to be 2 turntables and a microphone that has now turned into computer music with maybe some audio recording also.

its a damn shame too! All to often when I go to a show I can't help but ask myself, WHERE IS THE DJ??? Now and days your just as likely to see a Mac computer supplying the sounds as a DJ on the 1 and 2s.

To me, when an artist does a show, they are supposed to have a DJ supplying the sounds. That is hip hop. Two turntables and a MIC! Fuckoutahere with that IMAC BULLSHIT!

I just realized...I don't think anyone has mentioned Bone Thugs and Harmony. While they're a bit more mainstream than when I first started listening to them I don't think they've sold out too badly. There music just puts you into that "Lets get high" mood.
