I am old Hip Hop fan...38, I will never forget My Adidas, Tricky, or my all time fave, It's Like That, a song which is still pertinent today!!!!! I love all hip hop, but will say that some of today's stuff is crap, prefabbed rap, it sounds the same, I mean what the hell is I'm in Love with a Stripper all about. Rap and hip hop is all about a story, and roll wid it, bounce wid it, just isn't a story to me. I understand party anthems and not always being so deep. Tupac was alyrical genius, and when he spoke, I felt him and his struggle. I am a white woman, but he moved me. Eminem is also super talented, and his life is spleed out in his songs....his passion, anger and heatache...all there. Nas is another genius, and who can forget Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Queen Latifah..U N I T Y, gotta let them know.....peace...O.

Very good point, i love hip hop with a point, you know the music just takes you somewhere, i dont care if its a fictional story or a real life true event. And my 26's iced out chain, 26's candy apple paint, 26's is ok if im in a club dancing to the beat.

I listen to alot of biggie.

Jay z, american Ganster is geting alot of plays on my cd now, he has a track on there called ignorant $hit, on the that pretty my explains whats going on as far as success in the rap game.

Big L for me is the best gangsta rapper. 'Lifestylez of da poor n dangerous' is brilliant. I think Necro and Non-Phixion are good every now and then. Necro makes some sick beats. His Gory Days album is ace.
I like some of Masta Ace's shit as well, he's a level headed realistic type of rapper.

Notorious B.I.G. is my favorite artist ever. Big L also gets a lot of plays.

2Pac is pretty good. Not so much lyrically, but the general subject and beat to his songs are pretty good.

Red and Meth get a fair few plays too. As well as Dr Dre, but nowhere near as much as B.I.G. That guy was just ahead of anything this world has seen before in my opinion.

Nearly forgot to mention. I can't stand much new stuff. Nobody has anything on the 2 old-skool New York rappers.

nah that was shit and made after he died. few good songs but nothing as ahrdcore as Lifestylez.
I know there's possibly more rugged serious stuff but he just does it with style and wit.

hell yeah it is, man. I have Lynch's entire collection. But his new shit is....weak. Way to mainstream for me. He's gotten away from the siccness and into trying to get radio time.

I started listening to hip hop /rap in like 1988. Elders around me were listening to sabbath and led zep and other rock. I started on old run dmc on the white tape and had some LL cool j bad and from there i was on all sorts of hip hop/rap. Got my hands on some nwa and the posse {the one with like 50 people on the cover} Too $hort born to mack, geto boys was always played and still is..... as i got older i started to mainly listen to bay area rap. I love 2pac and dj quik and a few other southern california rappers but feel that there is alot of tallent in the bay area that goes unseen and the same thing will they did 6 months ago ends up on a juels santana album and he make a million bucks on it. Here are a sample of what im knockin every day.
Andre Nickatina@equipto-horns and halos 1,2,3,4
Mac Dre-take your pick of albums he has a dozen t.i.p. to the great MAC DRE
Yukmouth- godzilla
San Quinn
mistah fab-baydestrian
jt the bigga figga
sir mix alot-swass
Richie Rich
Rich Da Factor
