Sounds like a nitrogen deficiency, you probably haven't fed them anything yet and so now they could use their first shot of veg ferts. Usually it's best to go with a weaker then normal dose the first feeding, I usually go half strength.

Are you referring to the oval shaped leaves?,
if not, I usually start feeding after 2 weeks,
so go with what HempKat has suggested.

Oh good point, I didn't even think of those first leaves. Yeah if it's those they die off eventually and so feeding may not be needed just yet. If it's the more normal multi-pronged leaves then that's likely them saying they're hungry.

If you want to go the cheap chemical route then don't go with Miracle Grow, get Peters 20-20-20 for veg. Go quarter strength first dose, half 2nd and full 3rd.

Dont bother with piss!!
Get some feed from your local garden centre if you cant get anything from a hydro store..go for a seaweed extract it works great..you should be able to find an organic one..peace
Oh yeh and keep the feed solutions weak like Hempkat said..
Hempkat D is in the UK so we dont have the brands you have in US...

Urine technically can be used as it is largely composed of nitrogen but it's really not a good idea, doesn't save you much money, and can be very tricky to use properly so it's not good for new growers. BTW for what it's worth a full strength solution of urine is already fairly diluted at a 10:1 ratio (10 parts water to one part urine. So a weak solution has to be even more diluted. Plus nitrogen is not all your plant needs and the other minerals and nutrients just aren't in urine. However with products like Peters 20-20-20 you got everything you need nutrition wise for your plants, in one simple to use form.

Well he mentioned Miracle Grow which is manufactured by Scotts. They also manufacture Peters 20-20-20. So if Miracle Grow is available there it is very likely that so is Peters. BTW Peters also goes under the name of Jack's Classic (after the formulator Jack Peters). These products are popular amoung orchid enthusiasts so any garden supply or club that support orchid growers will likely have it. There are also many cheap online sources if you can't find it locally.

I recommend it because it is said to have a better spread of micronutrients then Miracle Grow. However if you want Miracle grow All purpose plant food which is 30-10-10 also works fine. It's really the Miracle Grow Bloom products you have to be careful of. In reality though most plant foods that are high in nitrogen and low in Phospherous and potassium should work for veg.

How's the little soldiers Devious? Ask the LGA for some veg ferts or seabird guano,,, dem have buy a tub-load :D

Hempkat: you are a 'Sage of Cultivation'. Never known you to pass a question, without first providing an adequate answer. Respect ganja mon...
*It is very good to see growers of such calibre floating about

peace out dL

Footnote:
urine contains ammonia nitrate.
ammonia nitrate is converted into nitrogren by soil/plant microorganisms.
urine is only normally used as a 'quick-fix' source of nitrogen.
Peter's 20:20:20 is only availble some places in the UK.
we'd use specific Dutch ferts, rather than Miricle Grow.
the little round seed-leaf are called cotyledon.

...t'was I that told DD to feed with weak solution of urine from the base(t'was the only option this time,,,) lol

pon ya learn ya grow(?)

how do you work out it "doesn't save you much money" - urine is free .. well at least mine is

how do you work out "it's really not a good idea" - nothing detrimental happens to the plants, in fact they react positively to it ..... at least mine do.

?

It doesn't save you much money and it's not a great idea because a plant needs more then just Nitrogen. Which pretty much is the main ingredient in urine. What's the point in using urine to cut costs and promote plant health is you have to add a bunch of other stuff to achieve those goals?

 HempKat ever the sage :canabis:

4iiii's As a quick-fix source of nitrogen, piss is ok, but for anything long term, the advice given by HempKat is spot on.

Long term try companion-planting alongside legumes which fix nitrates into soil :D

Human urine is a great source of auxin, in fact one of the most potent auxins can be found in human urine; indol-3-acetic acid or IAA. Among many things auxin is known to stimulate flower growth, promote ethylene production, and stimulate root growth.

Advantages of Urine Fertilizer
One advantage in using urine, as a fertilizer is that much of the urine is available in ideal chemical forms: nitrogen is in the form of urea (ammonia/ammonium which is present at concentrations of approximately 3.5 g/l), phosphorus as superphosphate and potassium as an ion. Urine is almost free from heavy metals - for example, cadmium - because even if we ingest them, they will tend to bind to the liver and kidneys, making the urine much lower in such contaminants than commercial fertilizers.
