Heavy, this post has caught my attention because I have had pretty much identical issues in the past.

Only very few of my seedlings will show these symptoms when I grow some but there is alwasy bound to be one. They always grow out of it after about 2 weeks and the problems dissapear for good.
(like in your case)

Now I've never been too worried about the odd seedling doing this but since your plants did exactly the same thing, maybe we can figure out what is causing this.

One suspicion of mine is that because I recycle my soil, there might be salt build-ups left from my last grow.

Do you recycle your soil too?

Well the soil I am using now is fresh out of the bag Fox Farm Ocean Forest with 25% perlite. To tell you the truth I really think it has something to do with the water or pH. I don't have a pH meter to check but in the bathroom we have lots of hardwater buildups and iron rust buildups around the shower head. I think this might have something to play in this part but who knows thats just me guessing?

Get some cheap ph test strips with the range 4 to 7 from the petstore in the aquarium section to at least give you an idea of what is going on till you get a meter.

Thanks for all the help stitch !

My young plants are back to normal and thriving. They grew 2 new sets of leaves withing 24 hours after I cleansed the soil from all the superthrive, let the soil dry out for a few days to encourage those roots to start growing and then gave them a dose of FloraNova GROW at 300ppm total and 6.5pH in regular tap water (150ppm). I haven't watered them since, they really only need water like once to twice a week thus far. I will continue to feed them FloraNova Grow at increased strengths, slowly.

Any other suggestions? When I start seeing more vegetative growth, probably in a week or two, I will start giving them small doses of Botanicare SWEET. And I'll definately stay away from superthrive unless I see a need for it. I have never had problems giving past plants 1 drop per gallon or less every watering, guess these plants are more susesptable to nute lockout.

Toodles,

WMB
