Great stuff. It's funny, before I really looked at the rooted cut picture, just glanced it, I was like is he dipping his roots in kief? Haha, dumby! You rooting cutting for sexing? Or you doing some studding around there?

Thought the same thing

i lost most of my CTOG stash to a series of small fires :smoke:

Damn nice thread, Heady! Just ordered my Blumat setup with the superflex 8mm hose. Can't wait till it comes in. Any advice on setting them up? How often do u have run aways?

oh yea i'm full of advice with the blumats!

as long as you follow the directions they should work flawlessly. proper head pressure, consistent pressure, proper cone placement, and proper drip placement are the keys to success.

are you planning to use a reservoir? how much feed line will you be laying out? how much head pressure (vertical distance between surface level in res and where the drip emerges)?

picture.php

one of the regular advisors on the blumat thread was warning against using the straight-from-the-tap pressure regulator with the superflex hose cause he had been getting some questionable bulges and whatnot from the higher pressure (i think it's 40 psi) vs. the minimum recommended pressure for a reservoir is 1 bar (14.5 psi) per meter of feed hose iirc.

get a big roll of the 3mm brown silicone drip line. it's expensive but having longer drip lines will save you a lot of headaches down the road. i use ~6' lengths so i can move my containers around if i need to.

then it's about using the proper number of emitters for the diameter (not volume) of your container. i dont' super trust the distributors, so i prefer to use one cone per drip point. in my ten gallon geopots i'm using two emitters each, but if they're not perfectly positioned i'll get run aways. i'd do better with three cones per container but i don't have that many yet. i'll buy more soon but in the mean time i just am super anal about placement.

picture.php

i use plastic forks to prop the drip end of the brown 3mm lines. that keeps them off the soil (roots and algae will grow into the lines from the soil and cause clogs/runaways if they rest on the surface). it also keeps that drip end placed exactly where i want it.

if your'e operating at the lower end of appropriate pressure using a reservoir, pressure fluctuation can cause runaways. if you've got overkill pressure you should be fine, but when you're right at the minimum head pressure and you let it drop even 6--12" it can fuck with the emitters and cause a flood.

to solve that problem i whipped up a constant level reservoir when i was in my closet days. i scaled it up for this grow and it works really great (five gallon bucket on top, 3/4" bulkhead for overflow, 35 gallon tote for base reservoir).

picture.php

feel free to ask more questions as you're setting them up! the guys on the blumat thread are super amazingly helpful too, but if you're in living soil i may have some unique insights to offer.

HTH!

May i ask what type of camera u use, and if u edit your pics at all before uploading? Everytime i take a frosty pic when i upload them the frost comes out kinda blurry...

thanks getmo!

the rectangle shots are taken using an olympus xz-1 point an shoot on program mode where i've set the white balance to match the gavitas. they lose a lot of sharpness when i upload them to icmag. i'd get better results if i resized them on photoshop first but i don't have a licensed copy anymore.

i take the square pictures with my iphone 5s and they're hosted by instagram. they save them at 1080x1080, and apparently at a higher resolution than icmag, cause they stay much crisper. only thing is the iphone totally sucks in the hps light, so i get the best shots under fluoro.

i almost never do any editing to the color or contrast, or use any filters or whatever. the one exception is taking pictures under hps with my phone---i found that if i go to the "temperature" adjustment in instagram and pull it all the way to the left (cool) it helps the color look more natural.

birm's thunderstruck trim rosin. so fucking delish.

the sssdh rosin. i'm finding more amber heads=darker rosin. i was really enjoying taking a shard of this one and wrapping it with the thunderstruck for a truly satisfying flavor explosion.

my dabpen upgrade. read too many stories about sad fools' mech mods blowing up in their faces. at the same time the price dropped for these regulated units. got this sweet sigelei 150w for $80. i got some titanium wire for temp control mode but i still need to make the coil. just using my old atomizer set up on wattage mode for the time being.

pictured with cbdb 1 trim rosin. the shatter consistency is a PITA imo, but it's SO TASTY and so potent. this rosin has everything i love about that herb and nothing that i dont. a perfect expression of the plant's best profile.

this picture of a bin full of worm shit caused quite the heated conversation. the concern was, "aren't you worried about bringing bugs in from outside?" i said "nah, ive got billions of bugs in my garden!" my goal is balance, not exclusion.

anyway between this, a 15 gallon tote also sifted, and a 20 gallon bin that's still rocking, we should have most of the winter months covered as far as EWC needs.

popped more seeds! i can't help myself! doin some OG hunting, some CBD OGs, and after losing my beauty haze dom sssdh i had to drop this pack to look for a replacement.

Killin it Heady. Lovely garden and great info on the blumats. I cant wait to get my own place and give them a try. I cannot risk a flood at this location but man I like the idea of them.

The worm poo is something I cant wait to get on as well. Shit is expensive, no pun intended. I think I will be putting a worm bin in the yard this spring. Im guessing they wont winter too well, but I do have a temperate climate.

Plants are looking great as always.

bmac---

i used the blumats in small rental apartment spaces until i got this garden. you can guarentee yourself a measure of security if your drip trays---or tent liner or whatever your flood containment solution is---is larger capacity than your reservoir.

it's not the most convenient thing ever to have a tiny res and large pans or a kiddie pool or whatever under your pots, but the convenience lost is returned after you've got the system functioning properly and what used to be your watering time is suddenly your free time.

here's how i had it working for me in my old closet in cali. my sweetheart's clothes were under there. she said "you fuck up my clothes, i fuck up your face!" lol. i'm lucky to have her support!

sourdank---

the gums smell great! i only have 5 phenos so i hope i'm not making a false correlation here, but it seems like the plants with spear shaped colas have a fruitier top note with a sour skunky bottom end, and the blunt shaped ones are more skunky funky with a bit of sweetness and pepper and earth.

the smaller 4 and 5 are super resinous and have the most dead on bazooka joe thing. 1 is the biggest by far but her smell is more generic tootie-fruity than 4 and 5.

here's the same pic again.

#5 is at 9 o'clock (tiny)
#4 is like 6:30
#3 has 3 o'clock
#2 is pointing directly at 12
#1 is the monster in the middle pointing to 11

frank---

i always love when you come by for a visit! :huggg:
