Haze males from old GHS lines

Upon rethinking it was actually 2006 I brought the cheese (original big Buddha Afghan backcross was 2005 and they provided the seeds to gh for feminising)
2007 I visited again and bought rhino, Hawaiian snow and ssh.

They still sold a few varieties as regular then - nevils haze, rhino and ssh I think (I got reg rhino)

Great you've got the packs and info!

About '30 times cannabis cup winners' on the GHS site here
if you count up from the bottom / earliest, then 30 would be
'1998 HTCC 2 nd for "El Niño"'
but there's more for 1998, so why would they put this, rather than a total of 36 after 1998?
Maybe 30 just a round number?
If it's just 'first place' for cups then it would be
'2006 Spannabis Barcelona 2006 1 st place for "Best Stand"'
not just HTCC.

I think GHS started selling fem seeds in 2008.

Hope this helps in some way.
It does, thanks! I doubt they would put seed in packaging that says 30 wins when they had 36.

Something else suggests they are 98 packaging… Mine have no price on them. This was not allowed after 16 February 1998 when EU adopted the Price indication directive.
Any packs already sold to retailers would still have been available but GHS would have been required to put prices on them after Feb 98.
Like these..

Old packs like mine could have had a price sticker put on them to bring them into compliance and avoid massive fines so mine having nothing again suggests they came from GHS in 98 and stayed in the retailers fridge till I bought them. They are 5 packs which work out more expensive and less popular than 10 packs. That might have contributed.

Chasing The Present
Ultimately, I don’t now how old the seeds are because the shop didn’t know when they were bought in from GHS. It remains a mystery but the 2 obvious phenos looks F1 and so does the vigour.

Maybe we can work out when these are from by the packs? No date but they are 5 packs incase that narrows it IDK.
The other thing is it says 30 times cannabis cup winners. When does could that have been their cup tally?
Also, the cannabinoid numbers… did they change any from what on mine?

All I can say for sure is that’s the exact packaging they used mid 2000’s, how long it was in use by that point I haven’t a clue - PS - I don’t recall ever seeing any pricing on packs, perhaps as they were sent to states? But I know ones I got then didn’t have it on them

The thing with any seed, any species is names are just that; we all should pay respect to provenance & try & keep it true best we can but ultimately names are just that, a name and especially in the seedy tall tale cannabis genetics space.

Ultimately there’s only one true way to know what we hold, grow the plants out the best we can, get them to express the best we can & then cure them flowers properly, only then can we truly know what we hold AND how it works within our parameters.

But breeding, chucking is an exercise in statistics & steps we can take along the ways to improve our chances & understanding is prudent & can be huge time saver & expedite achieving our goal(s)

There’s one thing for certain; making new seed & the joy of popping the unknown never gets old, at least for me and I’ve made millions of seeds, have a spreadsheet over a thousand rows long with different X’s & parents on it and I never get tired of adding to it & the unknowns & grails that lurk within….

Smoke weed > Grow weed > make own seed > breed own plants > :giggle:

A natural progression for any cannabis aficionado with passion

The EU is harsh on rule breakers, loves to inspect shipments from Amsterdam based companies in the cannabis trade and made price on packaging a legal requirement in the EU from Feb 98. It didn’t apply to outside the EU hence no priced packs in US until they ran out of old packs. I can’t see GHS ignoring something that could have cost the tens of thousands in fines over it. They are too big for illegal practices. Arjan is astute if nothing else.

@Spaventa (or anyone) :) … what’s the history of the original super silver haze as you know it ? (late 1990s) who developed it ? who originally released it ? was it bred out of “silver haze“ …

Wasn't sensi silver haze haze 19 x (nl5 x haze)

ssh is nl5 x haze x skunkhaze or something

Never tried ssh, sh was very very nice though if you got ones without the nl influence. I smell similar terps between silver haze and seedsman oh.

Silver Haze was NL5 x Haze C, IIRC
Super Silver added more Skunk.

Edit - yes that’s right Silver Pearl AND NL x Haze. I was thinking that and doubted myself lol

I thought it was a haze x haze x nl. It did have a somewhat toffee flavour to the nl leaning one i tried which was a dull dull smoke.

The hazy one, however, was straight fire, stank of pine and pear drops and had a really great day brightening laughter inducing high.

I think Fritillary seeds or was it so7omon seeds offered some ssh f2 in early 2000 as freebies from sb but like old nhaze, old ssh wasn't seemingly available from 2000 onwards.

I don’t know if they are legit but several clone nurseries have a SSH cut.
I kept a 80s Silver Haze cut from Holland called S5 for a few years. Loved it. Shared it plenty so shout if you have her. Cheesegez still on here?
The gh ssh (2007ish) feminised grew exactly like the one in the old greenhouse grow video- tall Xmas tree shape and beautiful smell/taste that I struggle to compare with anything else. Took around 12/13 weeks 12/12 to flower.

I crossed it with the rhino male from previous year but it lost the taste ☹️

I looked up S5. A few sources say it was SSH x SLH but the member from Holland who gave it to (maybe he’ll chime in) told me it’s older than SSH and SLH. He said it was from a big selection grow and not a cross, just a Silver Haze from Sensi seedbank in the 80s.

I’m looking forward to the Hawaiian Snow pack now I’ve worked out these are old original lines. It will be the original O Haze x Hawaiian x Neville’s Haze :)

Very strong weed the Hawaiian snow … really does creep up and blast you when fully ripe…Taken early it’s far too rushy for me and gave me eye ribbon-floaters.
Seriously recommend tying and topping as she’s a stretcher

23.7% was pretty high THC in those days :)
how many weeks do they flower in your experience?

Also, how does she respond to training? Scrog and topping in flower? The Neville’s is quite happy and bounced back quickly when I topped them a month into 12/12.
