Have you ever identified a grow house because the resident was careless?

i kinda think the same way. I live in an upstairs apartment and rock 3K. I carry stuff up, my neighbors might think i'm weird and the stuff is weird, but weird is OK. I just have to make a lot of small trips. The hardest part was getting the trays and plywood up. I just did it at night, when everyone's asleep.

Unless they already know, or are a sympathizer, they won't know what it takes to grow pot.

I suspect that a duplex a few houses down grows. They once made the whole street smell like SKUNK in the dead of winter. They also had the dankest, lushest of tomatoes and peppers growing in pots and buckets on their front porch. These young gangsta punks' tomato plants were blowing everyone else in the neighborhood's gardens away. Lol, I'd never approach them, but of course I'm curious of their setup and what strains they got...

Sometimes I do stuff in daylight just so the people around me don't start getting too nosy. If they only see you empty out big stuff from your car late at night you can bring more heat then doing it in broad daylight with minor concealment.

There's a house a few blocks from me that has halides on at night visible in an upstairs window. I just assume they're legal and don't care if someone figures it out. My neighbors can hear my fans go off and on and can probably smell stuff at certain times.( my wife says it smells like a skunk sprayed in a christmas tree lot) I'm legal also though so whatever. Supposedly 1 out of every 10 houses is growing in my city.

Hmm, that's a good point, and it would definitely hold if the only thing I saw were the reservoirs...but the list of "mistakes" is lengthy, and it seems to me that an intelligent non-grower might be able to put two and two together. I also know for a fact that this house has caught the attention of the neighbors, because it was mentioned at a neighborhood security watch meeting some while back--nobody mentioned marijuana specifically, but it was considered suspicious.

I dropped a letter in the mail yesterday. I'd want to know if I were attracting the wrong kind of attention, and these guys are about to find out that that's exactly what they're doing. We'll see if they at least clean up all the crap lying around outside their place. If it saves them from a burglary or home invasion (more likely to happen in Oakland than getting popped by the cops), then I did a good thing.

I'm in Berkeley right now, and I don't even like smoking outside because I'm afraid some gang-banger POS will smell it and decide to kick in my door to 'jack' me. These guys don't mess around up here, they'll rob you and rape any women in the house, that's the standard MO in this area You did them a HUGE favor by letting them know, maybe saved their lives.

AriesXX, thanks for the props. That's my thinking too. Whether or not they're legal (they probably are because med cards are the cheapest insurance you can buy) isn't really relevant. Much more likely they'd be crime targets. Burglaries have skyrocketed in my neighborhood ever since the OPD's numbers got cut, and home invasions are entirely commonplace. People are prowling around here every night, looking for an opportunity.

pretty much my situation atm... moving plans have been set in motion... going somewhere nobody knows me to raise my kids in a safer enviroment.. you quite possibly did save their lives... and they will never thank you... oh the fame and glory

Around here homeowners are mostly armed so won't get "jacked" without a fight. How can you stand living in Oakland? I couldn't stand it 30 yrs ago. I can imagine what it must be like now.

There is a grow going on across from my fathers house. There is never anyone home, they come only at night and are always bringing stuff in and out with garbage bags. This tipped me off only because I know what to look for. Others probably don't notice. The only reason I see them late at night all the time is because I always have insomnia and am up all night bored.

So with that little info, I went over during the day and walked around the property. If I got seen I was going to say I was looking for my cat lol. Anyways, on my walk I noticed all the lights were out, but the hydro meter was spinning like crazy. Also, I could here a fan being exhausted into an old furnace pipe that leads to the roof.

Really, other that that they are doing a fairly well job of keeping it concield. A few glitches, but not too bad. They do the same I do when growing in a basement, leave a window cracked in winter just a few inches, then place closed blinds over the window and build an exhaust box and cover that with b&w plastic. That way the blinds just look closed and they don't move about from the fan sucking cold air in.

I doubt anyone would know other than a seasoned grower. Still, things could be better. I guess they don't need a note sent.

I have a Buddy that works for a Railroad Co. and in his 200 miles of traveling He says You would not believe how many Backyard grows He spots. Last he counted was something around 30-40 Outdoor Grows.

Dude, it's good of you that you let them know, but I wouldn't have done that. If I knew someone knew, but didn't know who, I'd have to either find out or tear down. I couldn't just live knowing that.
