In the early days the vaccine was very effective at preventing infection. Many who refused it did regret it in ICU. Many died who otherwise might not have.
The vaccine is still somewhat effective at reducing severity. It is still safer than getting actual covid although you'd never know it reading this thread.
The world has moved on. Take the vaccine or don't. I don't care at this stage. It is only rabid anti vaxxers who are still suffering some self imposed outrage, fuelled by misinformation and outright lies. I am only in these threads because misinformation is still out here. Roms blaming every single random death on the vaccine is laughable.
It's amazing that a large proportion of the population distrusts science to such an extent that they hitch to every batshit crazy theory, or worse still the grifters that are fuelling this to increase their audience. Distrust the science, but trust some influencer with zero understanding of the science or issue.
It's real Darwinism playing out. We have made our world so idiot proof that there aren't many opportunities for evolution to take its natural course. If dinosaurs were around when people were, they would have eaten the ancestors of these dummies.
Covid Delta came very close to killing me. I could see the refer trailers behind the hospital too.

i've been trying to understand what it must be like to be an anti-vaxxer in a family and take a disease home to parents, grandparents etc and have them die from it ? even if YOU survived, how could you look at yourself in the mirror without wanting to eat a pistol ? what do you do? do you express regrets, or would you say to yourself "old SOB should have been dead years ago, good riddance...i think i'll sell his house and move to Florida. "
I was close to that. My wife got it working in the hospital and brought it home. I ended up in another hospital thinking I would never see her again because of the isolation rules. Later on she worked at the hospital I was in and they told her how bad I was and how I just made it. Man did she feel like crap about the whole thing, 3 weeks in two different hospitals.
While in there, I spent allot of time thinking about how the numbers pyramid and how some individuals could have singularly responsible for thousands of deaths. Especially when you think about Chumpers, no masks and anti vax, these people could have been responsible for many deaths.
