Breeder vs. Broker
Breeder vs. Broker
I have been following this thead and the one over on CW.
A couple of points I would like to offer.
I believe, even if you buy the seeds, the recognition of the strain belongs to the originator of the strain. All other breeders developing strains based on the original strain, should show some Debt of Gratitude to the Originator of the Original strain. Not much different than copyright laws.
The technology, when made readliy avaliable to the general botanical community; micro-cloning; will benefit the botanical community at large. It is only than that these technologies will be readily available and cost effective to the public-at-large; i.e. MJ community.
In other words, when the seed industry as an entity embraces this technology, it will happen, until than it will be talked about like cold fussion is talked about. Possible, but just always out of reach.
It seems the bigger question to me, Is why would a seed breeder change into a seed/clone broker?
I noticed immediately, how Steve; Spice of Life; became in receipt of many one off 'elite' clone cuts from various unknown sources. Seems to me a person could develop some new strains with all those genetics on hand.
I wonder why the amount of elite clone only sytle genetics he is in receipt of does not bother other seed breeders?
How many other seed breeders have that access right now?
Perhaps strategies of genetic development between breeders and in collaboratioon with group breeders is the easiest way to circumvent any one entity holding "All the Aces" so to speak.
I worked sales and marketing before. I can smell with my nose and see with my eyes.
Just some thoughts about this whole thing.
Good Luck!
