actually, it was a joke, but since you bring it up, read up on the history of thanksgiving yourself. about three years after the original thanksgiving celebration, indians attacked and killed a fairly decent amount of settlers in the same area, some of them members of the original thanksgiving day feast. the settlement where thanksgiving was originally held was abandoned for over ten years afterward due to the high casualties from the attack. of course after that the tribe who had attacked the invading settlers was slaughtered. it's a holiday celebrating the invasion of another people's land and the eventual destruction of their fascinating society.
