And the rest.

They have been flowering for say 18 days. They all looked very nice when i started flowering.

They mostly look good, almost all of them have a slight defic. tho.

The two terrible looking ones are iced grapefruit and vanilla kush.

Although i have 2 IG and 2 VK and two of each look terrible and two of each look great????

Really weird...

been using GHE @ 6ml soft water micro, 9ml bloom.
My RO water comes out @6.3ph, nute's added my mix is 5.6/ph add tap until 5.9/6.0ph.One other bonus is no ph up or down needs to be used, when it come time to add a little pk(very small amount)just dont add the tap to the mix and jobs a gooden . Been using this ratio for nearly 5 years with no probs what so ever.

blank85. It looks like they are over fed What is your runoff ph?

I read that testing the runoff from coco isnt accurate? Can they be overfed? The tap water is 100 ppm and 3+3/10 in 3 litres of water is like 600 ppm.

blank85, the 6/9 is just the ratio and it should be 3.785L
=1 us gallon, as i have 5L bottles i do 7.5ml M, 11mlB.
For smaller plants or lower wattage applications -20/30% of 7.5/11,per5L, giving you the same ratio at a lower concentration. As far as i am aware coco can quite easily accumulate salts.
The burnt tips suggest ph is outta whack leading to a lockout. If you got testing equipment test your runoff.
Good luck mate.

I still wonder why people so afraid to use tap water. I used 6/8 with .5ml drip clean with RO got same defs as everyone else. switch to using my 500ppm tap water. No problems. Water once or twice a day with a lil runoff. PH is 5.5 going in never check it going out. Whats the point its DTW.

In flower add your fav bloom booster depending on how your strain likes to eat.

My tap comes out at 0.6 EC and 8.2 ph alkalinity galore, don't even drink the shit, so ro is a must for me.
Your right you don't need to test runoff when things are going right but if deficiency's start to show testing will give you an early indication of whats going wrong, that or a well trained eye.

Hello all..new to the coco train here and had a few questions..has any1 ever had issues with root bound trees in coco. I have some ww beans in some rw ready to sprout soon and was gonna move em to a 3g hempy style pot. Should I work my way up to the 3g? Has any1 ever had a root bound issue? Thanks! I think I'm gonna love coco from the sounds of it!

Awesome thread ,just read the whole thing . I too am switching to coco from promix after more than a decade . Just transplanted 8 seedlings to coco from promix two days ago , they where kind of lagging in the promix bu they insantly took off after 24 hrs in coco .

Thanks H3ad ,much respect :tiphat:

It was fun and enriching to read this thread, Thank you H3ad for sharing.
I use GHE, I understand that the dosage is different from the GH Lucas Formula.
Your thread gave me a lot of confidence to perform tests of what is right for me.
I think I'm beginning to understand the plant.
With your help and with others.
I like your way of saying that the best thing is to listen and see what the plant wants.
I can tell you it is very difficult for a beginner to distinguish the various deficiencies, I can tell others that once you begin to understand how to dial, the story is over and things start to flow.
For example:
I use the same dose of Bloom and micro for veg With the addition of Epsom. I'm preparing quantities per liter - 1.5ml bloom 1.5ml micro + Epsom /RO (arjan haze3 seedling) Looks great. From here I can change the doses, See what the plant has to say.

I made a Excel file According to data from the GHE site, I'll try to upload it.
When I was sure I understand what I do, I'll open thread

Here is an example of a decision to start with fertilizer
On the first day you can see the dark color. The seedling is in coco Fed only with RO:

picture.php

On the third day, the color became brighter Which indicated to me a certain hunger. So I decided to fertilize and begin with a low dose, It seems that the plant flow With - Did not show signs of distress

picture.php

Seventeenth day, things look great, at least for me

picture.php

It seems possible to play one way or another with doses, The only thing visible when working with (GHE/RO In my case) Is the lack of calcium and magnesium.
Sometimes lack of magnesium, Light green color plant is expressed in general than the familiar signs.
Lack of calcium is always expressed in brown spots on leaves.

seedling in soil... for now

seedling in soil... for now

Hi everyone. Virgin-grower here. It's my first attempt! I got new seedling (Northern Lights, Nirvana) in Fox Farm Ocean Forest and it's about week old now. First true leaves appeared. I intended to grow in soil but then I came across this thread and boy... that's a lot of reading to digest! I've red about great results with coco but all the info newbie needs was scattered all over the web so it seemed too confusing. After struggling through first 40+ pages here it started to clear out a bit and I decided to go coco.

Anyway, here's my question: FFOF ph is 6.3 - 6.8 and recommended water ph for coco is around 5.5. Is it OK to safely transfer plant from soil to coco (ph-wise)? How long should I keep it in soil before transfer? I'm assuming I should allow proper root development first to minimize potential shock to the plant...

Plenty more questions but I'll keep reading this thread first...

Last but not list - much thanx to H3ad for starting this thread and all of you guys! Your experience and knowledge you share here is priceless.

I made a trip to local grow store and got GH Flora Bloom and Flora Micro + GH CocoTek brick...

Ill try to get rid as much of soil as i can before i put it into coco.

As far as coco pH, i have been very happy with 6.0.

Thanks Tdawg.

I have soaked one CocoTek brick in a water. It filled 12quaters/11.4 L container almost full. I run tap water (Ph 7.18) thru a sample of coco and got runoff at Ph 7.02. I guess that indicate that CocoTek fiber was pre-washed...
