Ouf... wait till that lady stretch his legs... will become a monster!

Curious, where does the screen come from? I like that approach...

Thank you repuk - I'm hoping it will be large and yield me plenty of smoke!

Yes it is garden fence or field fence 5 ft x 50 ft roll. Has that green semi-flexible coating on it. I can cut the fence with tin snips and modify it for each plant.
I have another Guawi that is untrained and fills the cage beautifully.

My Guawi #1 & #2

Guawi #1 is topped for 4 mains and #2 is left natural with no training.
They are both my most hassle free easy growing plants. Pests don't like them. They have incredible smells, real winners. I wish I had a grow area inside so I could keep mothers. They are still vegging away and will be my last plants to flower I'm sure.

Thought this place could do with some life. Guawi Fem, plant was about 40 cm when flipped into 11/13 for 14 weeks.

Observations, jesus christ does this lady grow fast. Accidentally topped when moving which worked out perfect as she would have easily gone 200cm high. Probably not the best plant for indoor. Very light feeding schedule. Few nanners developed during late flower (no seeds found) and mainly on the lower branches as you may see in pics attached. Flushed for 4 weeks as expected flowering to finish at 12 week mark not 14. New growth continued on top of older buds even at harvest. Majority of trichs clearly milky... No amber trichomes apart from maybe damaged ones. Fluffy, airy and hay smelling buds hopefully that will improve, tastes better than it smells after 3 weeks in jar. Smoke a joint and you will be flying, for quite some time. Real power. Love it. Good yield with very sub-optimal conditions.
A pleasure.

Hi Herbage,

Looks like you got a taller, lankier and longer flowering NL/Haze expression from first Tikal generations instead of the more tamed structures and shorter flowering time from latest Tikal generations.
Therefore more difficult to keep her under control indoors. These expressions really need high light intensity to produce shorter structures and denser buds.

Anyway, glad you are satisfied with the yield and with the effect of the finished product ;)

I'm kinda surprised to hear Guawi is a fast grower. I grew 2 last year and now 1 this year and both years the pace has been average compared to other Ace sativas I have growing. I do really like the aroma and effect though. Will post a photo of this years plant soon.

Thanks for the positive feedback musigny23 :)

Glad both times your Guawi were fast flowering sativas and that you enjoyed with her effects and terpenes ;) It will be a pleasure to see pics of your experience.

Lovely ColaCalyx :)

Guawi should do very well at your latitude and climate.
Really interesting to be able to compare their growth topped vs untopped :) Both are very beautiful sativas with great branching and vigor.
They should start to flower about mid August.
Thanks for the updates!

Its currently my go to smoke dubi, flavour and aroma improving as the cure goes on, for me its probably the most euphoric effect out of everything i have. Im surprised it isnt more popular because i think i love it more than i loved panama!

I found with mine that it requires a longer cure than say Thai-Chi, otherwise smoke is too "strong".

Effect also changes, when not cured enough potency goes entirely to "short-circuit" your brain (confusion, etc). I'd say minimum 3 months.

Once cured it changes, effects focuses, and burnt-landing vanishes, though mine at least is night-smoke only for me.

Terpene-wise is a bomb... Guawi definitely requires longer curing to bring out all her potential, two to three months I'd say.

Excellent Herbage :)

Very happy to hear it, i thought you was a bit disappointed first with your Guawi, glad she is improving in every sense with the cure and becoming a new favorite ;)

Hi Repuk,

Guess your Guawi was leaning more towards the fierce Malawi side of the hybrid regarding effect, and not so much towards the more friendly Tikal side.

I agree, it's important to provide to Malawi, its hybrids and overall to all the strains with very complex profiles like Guawi, at least 3 months of curing.

I'm curious Dubi, how do you cure it?

A link if you have already written about it would be equally perfect :tiphat:

Repuk was your humidity on point for cure? Did you use boveda packs or anything for cure? 2 months to bring smells out sounds like cure method issues or a bad pheno that had no smell.

Guawi outdoor progress

The two Guawis are stretching and filling out. The flower clusters are just beginning to form, and I expect porcupine tops any day now from either plant.
Guawi#3 (topped) has stronger aromas, and a more delicate structure with shorter internodes. The leaves are skinnier, darker, and smaller. I keep training her middle open, only to find she fills it back up....good problems, right?
Guawi#2 (untopped) has a strong structure, with big leaves. Fragrant, just not so much as her sister.

Both plants are branchy with lots of sites for flowers. Almost no issue with pests on these two plants.

No, she already reeked green!

The two months+ is for curing the smoke to be smoooth and effect to be sharp.

I hang the whole plant or by whole branches on a dark, constant temp room, when it's around 65% it goes into jars and is burped after it stabilizes on <=65%.

For those plants with denser buds (like Guawi, Violeta) I usually use oven plastic bags as middle step between hang and jar, as they kind of "modulate" the drying at a slower rate around the 70-60% RH optimal point.

Wow ColaCalyx,

What a couple of nice Guawi bushes :D Both have an 'Old Malawi Killer' look and growth, but even lusher and more vigorous. Anticipating a bountiful yield!

:bigeye: ColaCalyx, you're going to need to seriously invest on stakes!

I'm envious of your place! Looks lovely, full of really nice vegetation around!!

I think I would get quickly used to the climate! seems similar to mine...

Howzit Dubi - that is great news, I have read about the "Old Killer" and her strength - I hope to experience it in these plants. Assuming the dry and cure goes as expected I'll have Ace flowers for the rest of the year easy - dreams can come true:headbange
Your strains are uniquely interesting, and I can't hear enough about them. If you are inclined to share, I am curious about Guawi and different phenos you find with her in this newest version, I plan to make some crosses next season and I think Guawi would be interesting to work with. :tiphat:

Hi repuk - yeah I can't have enough stakes! I agree with you that the view back here is nice to see and hang out in....is your climate also Mediterranean and filled with weed? We have it rough haha - You might not be so envious of my hands come trim day - I will be serving an extended sentence in trim jail!:help:
I clicked on your cob curing flowchart - nice work! I plan on doing cobs with all these fine strains I'm growing...that might save me from some trimming yeah? Irie vibes!

I have one Guawi this year. Not a large soil hole so the size was limited by that. Very sunny spot. Going into flowering now.

Come on! That's gonna be epic! give her time :bigeye:

Definitely, this lady is no joke and requires a good cure, I witness. It is exactly today when what was harshness, become original buds aroma translated into smoke.

what was dumbness, translated into… higher space. feeling supersonic…

Give her time. Really.

At least I managed to keep one third of her crop up to here :shucks:
