hey community i want your ideas on oscilating fans in a xxl tent.....right now have a oscilating fan thats a lil too powerfull and need some ideas
This dark room is 7'10 X 7'10 X 6'7
Some of the middle brackets cracked, and its not een close to light proof, but i like how its working with me...
hey commuinty wanted to get your thoughts and ideas....my setup when it is day time my girls are in darkness.. so yes there is some light in the room but none in the tent....i could use some mroe airflow i have plent of negative pressure...being that its light in the room and ideas as far as opening one of my vents of the tent to get more air inside but still keep it dark...what could i do to cover the vent?

I have trouble keeping my temps and humidity down with a 400 in somethin like that.how the hell are you cooling a 1000 with no inline fan???..a ac unit in the same room as tent??
it's funny you ask, because i've been wondering the same thing. to combat the temp swings in my garage, i have lights on at night. this way in the winter, the tent stays warm at night from the lights and in the daytime the garage heats up a little from sunlight during lights out. my veg cab runs 24/0 to keep temps up, too.
in the summer - we'll see - but i still flower at night in hopes to not heat up the garage too much during the day. we had a couple days over 100* so far and during lights out it was just under 100* in the tent - plants seemed just fine and really happy actually. i just reconfigured my exhaust so that it is a more straight-piped system and the air movement seems to have substantially increased due to less turns/shorter ducts. i also directed my canopy fan toward the light to help cool it off and keep heat from collecting in the metal housing - i need to get another canopy fan as it's been on the list. i've also added a fan up in my rafters to help exhaust more of the hot air accumulated in the daytime and help cool the garage faster when the sun goes down. i think this addition will make the most difference.
i have not yet figured out a way to easily air cool my reflector because of it's size vs the size of the tent. if i had a 4x4 tent, it would be no problem, but the 3x3 is a little close to the walls to have ducting on either side. i've got a small fan lying somewhere in a box and i'm gonna try to cool the light independent of the scrubber exhaust fan with outside air (intake fresh air from outside tent=>fan=>light=>exit tent). if it gets really bad, which i expect it to do, i've got a cheap window a/c unit that i might try to convert into a portable one to help cool the garage off. if my battles are all uphill with these methods, i'll scratch growing indoors during the summer and stick with outdoor plants or just move the tent into my computer room.
i've also got the current summer tent grow going in milk crates and rubbermaid storage totes. strains are GDP, HK-S, and Cherry Pie. i am hoping that an increased root mass/soil volume will help keep plants from getting heat stressed when it gets really hot. the grow should also be done at the end of july, hopefully finishing right before the "real" heat becomes a factor. then when those are done, out go the late-season minis in the veggie garden.
oh yeah...yield from the last grow in the tent was right around 15oz combined from 3 different strains in 9, 3-gal pots. the quality of the bud is out of this world. my old 400w could NEVER do what the 1kwt did this time. i think that's pretty good for a first round in the tent and first time using a 1kwt. it was all organic with a recycled soil/coco blend, ferted with fish emulsion, EJ meta-K, high P guano, a little EJ bloom(till the bottle ran dry), humic and fulvic acids, blackstrap molasses, EJ catalyst, EJ microblast, and a few compost teas(which i plan on doing a lot more of). i definitely have more of a grasp on the strains and know i can let them get a lot taller because i had plenty of height to raise the light up. this round, i've vegged a tad longer, so we'll see. also gonna be pumping nutes a little bit later in flower as well as added some bone+blood meal to the bottom 1/3 of the soil.
PS - my ballast and electrical is mounted OUTSIDE of the tent. it really makes a big difference.
Might as well invest in one since summer is coming up. They're not really more expensive than normal ones if you search around.so i went with a 4x4 tent and got the 600w... will i still need to aircool the bulb??? im sure im going to need a exhaust fan tho...
