I think the people who work at the grow shops have more to be worried about then you. Pretty obvious what you do if you do work at one.

Yes, obvious to everyone. Over the years i've read many an instance where a grostore worker gets busted for growing and ends up testifying against multiple customers to save his ass. You're not even safe in medical states if you're not careful.

I went into a new grow shop in Moorhead MN, spoke to the owner and his asst at length, both of them seemed almost anxious to breach etiquette talking about cannabis.

they danced around any direct questions of my particular interest but eventually the sales pitch (they were after all trying to sell me shit) came around to cloning materials (powders, gels, cubes, coco, rooting plugs, etc...) and I declined all. I told the owner "I can't clone these plants" (I never mentioned cannabis) and faster than immediately his asst said "LowRyders huh?" as he hit the nail right on the head.

That gave me an uneasy feeling but probably shouldn't have, after some considerable thought I'd almost have to guess a cop, even a good narc wouldn't be so familiar w/strains as to be able pop that guess or answer right off the top of his head, idk.

I bought my organic nutes w/cash and got back into the taxi that brought me there, 3 minutes later I was dropped off @ the McDonald's I was picked up from, ate a meal and walked across the street to my car and left town. w/tip the taxi was less than $20, it bought some peace of mind, I take a taxi in n' out of my twin cities hydro shop as well.

that's smart, see I could throw a dealer plate on my car if need be but then they could still trace i back to the business..

as a grower that has been busted I can say there is no such thing as too much paranoia. we always think that its not me its that guys till it happens to us...

I tried to use "entrapment" defense.
It almost never works, unless you had no predilection to use drugs ever in the past, and were lured into a one time act by agents who were both providing and "buying" the illicit product.

I just got back from the grow shop actually. I used to be way more worried about it. Wouldn't park in their lot, would wear shades or a hoodie, lots of covering up my tracks. .

Nothing says "nothing going on over here officer" like walking into a grow shop with a parking lot - from a different parking lot. While attempting to conceal your identity unabomber style. ; )

i know of gangs in citys in my country who put tracking devices under cars who frequent growshops to find out where they are living and rob them! no rumours its for real.. messed up world we live in gotta be careful!

Its funny that I am about to start growing again soon and just down the street a hydro shop just opened. I was wondering if any of you guys ever step foot in one of these stores or are you paranoid just like me?

Actually the police sitting outside watching a shop is not entrapment. To be entrapment the cops must entice you to commit a crime you wouldn't otherwise commit. Like if you had never smoked weed or done drugs and they convinced you to smoke a joint in public and then busted you for it, that would be entrapment.

Them watching a store to see who is buying stuff there to gather leads on who to investigate later is just detective work.

Man u guys in the USA are paranoid when it comes to grow shops...

That's because for the most part few people use them to grow things that are legal, plus when you look at how things are packaged and marketed it's pretty clear that it's not intended for legal grows. No granny is going in to one and buying something like this for her indoor tomato plants.
