Grow Room Build

G

Guest

I have been requested to build grow rooms for two individuals that had seen photos of my set up, the first one is fully stocked with all of the mechanical/electrical/structural/hoods/ballasts/Can Fans and etc., needed to put it on line.

Started construction today on the first one and will post before and after photos. I love working for someone that has the dream and the money to make it happen, and was lucky to have two clients that are in that category.

Those clients are super lucky to have someone as helpful/experienced as yourself to help them make their dream a reality. Your setup is my dream room with the 6 600's and dialed ventilation system  Are these growrooms going to be similar?

Same principal as mine with 4/600's in the flower room and 1/600 and 1/t5 6 tube for the baby & veg areas. The first client has a 10 x 19 foot room with 2 small closets that will be used for ballasts, control systems and possibly the deep laundry sink.

The laundry sink with water and drain will be run/installed as well to avoid having to lug water up and down the stairs. 10" round rigid ducting for the manifolds along with 6 inch damper controlled elbows and flex duct as before. Just installed two 20A in wall circuits with 4plex receptacles in the ballast closet and a 3rd 4plex in wall in the flower room, with 1 additional 20A dedicated circuit already in place, for a total full rated 80A's available. Both are new homes and have the Main Panel to carry the load as calculated with room to spare.

In addition to the existing A/C a back up A/C has been included to handle summer temps SHOULD the need arise.

Both clients are state law compliant Patient/Caregivers. They are paying for the materials and I am providing the labor free of charge and enjoying every minute of it. Hope this gives you all an idea of the goings on.

Thank you for your compliments. You 2 will have it, just start out with the right stuff and add to it as the $$$ become available.

i build mine grow without power tools. They did this way for thousands years, and still built nice things.

The power is in your arms.

I can't wait to see your project TY.

Frankenblunt420: Pick up a DIY framing guide/pamphlet at Lowe's, Home Depot or any large home improvement store. It will help you with basic techniques. Use 2 x 2's instead of larger dimensional lumber and frame it at 4'0" to each side. You can use 1/2" drywall cut to 7' and installed in the vertical position with 1 3/8" drywall screws and top it off with a 4' x 4' sheet of 5/8" plywood. This will provide a full surface for you to attach what ever equipment you desire.

Install the drywall and plywood with the finish side facing inward so it will accept white paint.

In lieu of nails use 3" deck screws and PRE DRILL pilot holes to avoid splitting the wood at the ends. Don't forget intermediate framing (wall studs). Frame the door opening with 2 x 4's and install a prehung 1 3/8" economy grade hollow core door with a passage lock set, weather stripping and door sweep to block light intrusion. You will see other details that need to be taken care of that are pretty much self explanatory.

I sure hope this is what you wanted, if not it will serve others that might want to build one. It will be a rigid structure that can be dismantled with the same screw gun you assembled it with and very cost effective to build.

If you are building a conventional closet the same framing principals will apply.

Good luck,

TyStik

Frankenblunt420 - Are you building a closet (a permanent structure attached to your interior walls) or a cabinet (a free-standing box)?

ty i have never had to deal with low ceilings like my buddys. i did a scrog on my last grow but with a different strain than what i gave him. to sog should i cut out the veg time completly? i was thinkin of puttin em under the 600s and pottin in 2galls, let em bake @ 20/4 for about 4 days then hittin 12/12. should i go with one galls? i have plenty of cuts available and it is a low stretch, heavy yeilding indi. gotta go run the aircool for the hoods tonight, i got my camera charged and will snap a few pics. peace TY!

gdawg - Your wiring looks real nice, except for the way you have the Romex sheathing stripped too far back. In the future, if you put your romex cable into the box, tighten the connector and then strip the outside sheathing, you won't have those problems.
