Lorax You are right on! When switching setups, there are always a lot of 'OH SHITs', lots of trial and error, and lots of figuring things out for yourself. Many many trips to the hardware/hydro store and lots invested.... but once I get an idea in my mind I don't rest until I have defeated it! The Pot of Gold is truely a beauty, I will be growing this strain for years to come. I am even thinking of buying a pack of beans to get some more phenos hehe!! Huge yeilds of kushy, musky, sugar coated sticky dankness! wow... I wish you could all smell this jar!! The duct silencer was purchased from DH(~$70 with ship, 8"), I will never grow without silencers again. Very awesome equipment....

Sbaegis I'm liking your grow too brother, keep it growing!!

Mampi I have a coupple concerns about coco:

1) You say you don't need to cut the bottom layer off, becuase it "drains well." Well, how does it drain? Can you explain? Are there pre-made holes in the coco slabs for solution to drain through? With the RW slabs, there are no holes, you have to cut the bottom layer of plastic casing away, or else puncture many many big holes in the plastic... much easier to strip it all off... leaving only the side walls and top plastic on.

2) the rockwool slabs I am using are 1 foot wide, and 3 feet long... huge area for root growth. The coco slabs look to be smallish tube-like cylinders. I wonder If i will be able to get the same rootmass in those smaller coco-slabs?? What are your thoughts on this?

Steady Smokin Stick around brother, the buds are coming!!

OK, here we are at DAY 17 BLOOM... and everything is looking just fine! The right side table is a little bit out of whack becuase I decided to put some Pot of Gold, SweetTooth, and Bubbleberry on that table for an experiment, bad idea... lol POG is huge!! The "GDP" that is on the table is shorter and more squad, but the POG just streches and launches branches everywhere. Even my hackjob of a prune was not enough to slow it down... so the light is raised pretty high up on that side, hopefully there is enough intensity for the smaller "GDP" plants.

So learn from this... if growing on a table... Pick One Strain, Grow It only.

Here's the Both Tables shot:

Left side, which is all "GDP"

right side, which is all "GDP" Except the foreground with my experimental varieties..you cansee how they tower over the others.

Pot of Gold would be excellent under 1000w lamps, in a bush style grow 5gallon buckets, DWC, KFB etc. Its just such a fast grower.. These are big plants for 16 days veg, very big..

Here are some better shots of the "GDP" at 17 days:

And here's those organic goodies... they just got hit up with a shot of Pureblend Bloom, Liquid Karma, and Hygrozyme..

pot of gold

bubbleberry

hashplant, supposed to be a 45 day strain. I'm not liking what I see so far.... very sticklike... but we are early yet.

Check it out eh? For all you suckas who think Hydroponics grows bigger plants faster, I would vote 100% for soil at this point! The soil plants are running a close race with the hydro, and I daresay are in the lead! I have pruned them both equally. Hydro is just easier to water, setup, and maintain... lol *edit* bluntitup tells me this isn't *real* hydro, lol.. he is probably right. Rockwool does not breath as well as DWC/Aero/Bio... true true. Thanks for raining on my parade!!! hehehe

But I suppose One could just as easily setup a reservoir for organic gardening and use drippers. If that was the case, I'm pretty sure it would be a toss up for growth rates, ease, and yeilds. The only thing though, is soil grown doja tastes so damn good, and the highs are somehow more satisfying :woohoo:

Congratulations. Yer gonna love 'em.

Did you get the 5 gal or 20 gal size? Tell me 20 and I'll get real jealous. LOL

Are these canvas all the way, or are they made of nylon?

I wish you a great time in your hash-making efforts. Don't forget to post the pictures and results. :yummy:

I vegged both tables for 15 days, while I was in Germany for the World Cup. They survived a 15 day leave of absense with zero maintainence..!! amazing. We are now on DAY 11 BLOOM.

fucking shit........if i had read this earlier.........you won't have a prob at all....

next time to Germany........pm me

7...nice.. ive only used the 3, and i beat it too long so it came out a little green... was still out of this world though.. so i can only imagine 7..

i have found that if you flip the felt sack they come in upside down, and roll the edges up a little, it makes a great hat

I did a small tester batch, just to get the proccess down. I'll do a real batch tomorrow. but here are the results from 40g of very high quality leaf trim, and mixed popcorn buds. Beaters to blend for 15 minutes, 30 minutes to settle before harvest...

Let the pictures do the talking...

This is the finest concentrate I have ever seen. (the 120 and 160 are probably trash... but I will do a smoke test.)

Hi Neptune,

Gaius Marius, whats up my man! I love your coco widow grows, and the power plant too of course :) I would love to switch to coco simply for the fact that it's biodegradable and organic. Rockwool is a bummer to throw away... you know its just sitting in a bigass dump somewhere, filling up the land. Booo! I'm not sure what to buy to get this going on coco, any help you can throw my way? Perhaps I should just re-read your grows? I'd like to do a slab, and a cube on top of that if possible.. Thing is, I cut the entire bottom layer of plastic off of these slabs so that the hydroponic solution can drain through the slabs and leave the table. If I did that with coco, I fear a mess and clogged lines! How do you go about drainage for your coco slabs/cubes?

thank's for the kind words, i'm glad if you had fun with my coco threads. i must say you yourself are a fine grower, i have also enjoyed following your threads.

one thing that's cool is that coco slabs and RW slabs can be treated in much the same way. ie up to 7 waterings a day each time till run off and still you have enough air for the roots. to get a good drainage on the coco slabs i have a slight slant to my table toward the drain end of course. the slabs them selves have two rows of holes punched in the bottom of them. this allows plenty of run off. it's really up to each grower how he wants to use the coco. you can run the slabs with 3 waterings a day or 7 with lots or run off or hardly any. just how ever you start that's how to go on. the plants will make the right kind of roots for the conditions you give them. i like to run my slabs soaking wet, at least 4 waterings in the light phase each time till quite some run off has come back to the tank. i recirculate my nutrient mix from a 350 litter tank. one can also run to waste, in fact it makes things a bit easier but wastes a lot of water which is why i recirculate and give the whole thing a flush once in a while when i refill the tank. the clogged lines are avoided by following certain rules. first you should have a ladies nylon stocking to filter your returning water of coco bits. also you need a decent particle filter for after the pump so no shit can get to the drippers and clog them. by cleaning the filter every 2 weeks you can keep your drippers in tip top shape. the next thing is that in between each run when the table is empty you run the pump and hand check each dripper to see that it's still running as fast as it should be. any blocked or slow ones get replaced. my last dripper control revealed not one to be replaced. but it can happen so always check in-between runs or if a plant suddenly looks different then check the dripper on it. if you do all that you will have no problems with drippers.

peace out

Just finished catching up...

congrats on the bubble bags, 40 g's is not bad at all. is that a 20 gallon set?

the thing you mentioned about the root mass is interesting. for some reason i don't need a big root mass in my coco to achieve very decent results. i preveg them in cubes till roots show at the bottom of the cubes, then i plant them on the slabs, give them anything from 2 to 4 days of veg more in the slabs and then i switch to 12/12. in that short time they don't make much roots at all. but still i get the results i'm after so i no longer care about root mass. but there is nothing to stop you treating it like you do your RW, just with coco specific nutes. you can fill those slabs with roots if you want to, they will do it if you give them the time. i have just found that my yield gets no better and my trimming gets worse when i veg more. maybe try it on one side first and see how you like it. the fact that you can re use it quite a few time is also very cool.

mind you, you have a very well dialed in set up, it's not like you need to do better. changing things will mean some risk till you have the new setup dialed in. mind you a grower like you will have no problems with coco slabs, they practically grow them selves. in fact one has to learn to leave them alone to do their thing lol

Ahh, another bubblehash convert.

The 73 looks particularily fine. As it dries it will lose much of the green, and will become eye candy as well as lung candy.

A suggestion if I may. Next time, stir the initial batch with a wooden spoon for 5 minutes. Yep, that's all. No mixer either, a real wooden spoon. Your quality will go up. That's where the real fine FMCD bubble is.

Congratulations. Bubble on...

Congrats on those bags Neptune! And that's awesome lookin' hash too! I have yet to make bubble with fresh trim, I hear that's the way to go, but I donno. I'd love to be able to make real good bubble. But anyhow, congrats again man, I hope you enjoy those bags! :woohoo:

Hey brother, thanks for the lowdown on the coco. I would like to give them a try in 2007, but I have been flip-flopping so many grow styles now since I started, trying to find something that works for me, and this is the best so far. You are right on about learning curves, and performance always suffers when you move to a new technique, but if COCO is basically like an organic and tastier rockwool... i'm all for it. I will definatly run 1 table with coco, and the proper filters, this winter. I like to rotate styles in slowly, and fortunaly I can with the setup I have. I am also thinking of running the "perfect pots" with Hydroton cocoballs.. they are perfect 8"x8" pots that fit nicely into tables... the growth rate is supposed to be phenominal... see SoQuick's thread.

Bubblebags are SO AWESOME!! I am so glad I got these, I am away from my site now but I just can't wait to do another run of bubble on Monday.... I'm going to run about 6-8 oz. of popcorn this time, whereas last time i ran only 1oz or leaf trim. The yeild last time was about 3g, or about 10% from that 1oz. What can you say about how to mix the icebubbletrim pile? I used an electric beater last time, I have heard people say "WOODEN SPOON OR BUST!" and some folk swearing by Sonicare toothbrushes... so what's the deal?? But yeah man, these bags rae amazing.. I am still drying the product and can't wait to burn some. It feels and smells so delicious!!! lol I'm just glad I can work these large shopping bags of trim into small goodness.. becuase trim counts as weight, and I have too much of it :/

sbaegis
Thanks for the kind words man! The bubble is a treat for sure... definatly headstash personal private medicine.. I don't see this being shared too liberally lol!!!

Updates soon! Room is looking great!!

Neptune - ROFL - Yer like a kid in a candy store. That's great. You'll get to love them more and more as time goes on. I've never said it, but I will now - "WOODEN SPOON OR BUST!". Yep, I agree 100%. Yes, I tried the sonicare (may my wife someday forgive me) and found it less than great. I could have done as well by just stirring it with the plastic spool I had glued onto it. But it deserves another trial some day.

However, remember - "WOODEN SPOONZ RULZ". There, I said it.

Got a little too much trim, eh? Well, you just send me like 100 lbs or so. I think that would be such a nice gesture. ROFL

I don't want to hog yer thread, but if I can be of any help on bubble stuff, please feel free to pm me, or whatever. I don't know it all, but I learned something in the last 3 years.

Happy bubbling.

sorry I did'nt get back to you sooner Neptune... Look's like GM tha coco whizz beat me to it anyways... his explanations and experience with coco far surpasses mine (actually got put onto the slabs by GM) so I 'd go with what he has to say on the subject.

I started off 'DTW' so just continued this way as it was only a small (1200W) grow not using so much water. Anyways good luck getting it together!

Damn I'm jealous if those bags bro. I only have a 2-set from Milla (Ice-o-lator).... Your 45 & 73U's look like very nice stuff.... here's a lil pic of my 73U (I think) sour diesel 2.5 bubble. I made it using one of them mini washing machine bubblator thingyma-jigs....

Going back to your grow pics.... I have suffered the mulitple strain headache when sogging.... can be a headfuck at times but usually turns out better than its looks to the eye.... this is usually because there is so much going on that it gets confusing trying to work out what you have :D

The organic ladies are looking lush.... nice update mate.

Ciao!

Oh u got a link for that soquick thread?

Mampi - thats some nice looking product there. Congratulations.

mini washing machine bubblator thingyma-jigs....
ROFL - great name for it.

I too have a bubbleator - but I use it with the bubblebags for more variety. Even so, you can, and did, get some good hash out of the bubbleator bags.

Enjoy
