Not mixing 800 gallons of soil every cycle is exactly what I'm talking about. Seems so crazy to me and I've done it for years now. if you and your misses are into veggies you're going to have a primo garden with that kind of dirt being used. Some people are going to be jealous of Mnt Pure when harvest comes! And before you drop 6 large on a mixer man run a couple pots recycled, I'd kick myself and I've done it before where I buy thousands of dollars worth of equipment only to put it on a shelf and let it collect dust as I found a more efficient way to do things.

The economizer would still let you use co2 as I'm assuming your return for the unit is not in the flower room, otherwise you'd be losing co2 regardless. It's just a duct that goes from outside to inside and has a damper on both ends so it is sealed when not in use and cnnects to your supply ducting. Ask your tech about it, maybe not for this one but always good to have tricks in the back pocket.

I like co2 and if I was in a permanent spot like you are and had the option of completely building from ground up I'd def be running it. At the same time I've hit two a light without co2 and since then I don't value it as much as I used to. If your garden and environment are dialed, it is the icing on top and helps push you over the edge but too many growers out there think it is a magic elixir. Not calling you one of them but hopefully you know what I'm saying.

Ranting this morning a little bit, apologies. Glad to hear you're not going to let the ac defeat you, sounds like you got a proper team on it and that always helps when it comes to troubleshooting. As far as the shit eating goes, hope it's a snack vs a five course meal. :blowbubbles:

great thread gents

very very clean room

one quick question.

Did you start with smaller smart pots and work up to 20g for your system?

I have seen very very large outdoor plants that spend quite a long time in 20s and still haven't totally filled them out. these are obviously two different worlds but how big were the rootballs on those mammas?

I hope you don't find the question insulting.

I am an avid smart pot fan by the way.

EL Bandito- No problem you are welcome. As long as they are sexually mature when you flip them to flower there won't be much difference if any. Sour bubble takes a long ass time sex.

somoz- Yes I am hoping for alot of fresh veggies to give to friends and family. I jsut hope I can tame my OCD and not go to nuts to do it inexpensively. The most overwhelming part is trying to read about all the plants I want to grow, managing their start and harvest dates, and trying to plant the best way possible. I will keep the economizer in mind. My return to the ac is in the flower room, my flower room actually acts as the lung room, the whole space is sealed and co2 supplmented to include clones veg moms. I ahven't touched 2 a light yet but I am on my way there once I dial in some new strains in the big room. Thanks :)

BugJar- No I do not find your question insulting, any question is fine by me. I start in 3/4 gallon, then I transplant after 14 days +/- once I got a nice fat rootball right into the 20 gallon. I use extreme gardening mycos in my transplant hole. I have found my root balls to be good when finishing, they hold together no probelm when you take them out. A little room for improvement, maybe. With sour bubble you really want to oversize your pot to increase your yield. Other plants it doesn't matter so much. Since I can only grow 24 plants each rotation I am going to stick to the 20 it is the biggest possible pot I want to carry.

AC should be back up and going anyday and I will get some updates in. Katsus are just out of control in a good way, colas will be everywhere, so will bamboo.

I liked you comment in regards to Somoz suggestion of using old/spent soil in a lil side garden as I am thinking of doing the same thing as soon as the soil thaws myself. Let me know what you decide to plant, I am researching the same topic myself right now and am trying to see if there are any local/farmers market outlets that might be interested in fresh produce :) A Friend of mine that used to be in the restaurant industry as a chef/sous chef commented that he knew alot of chefs that LOVE the opportunity to purchase oranically grown fresh veggies...

Sorry if this was off topic but I saw that lil blurb and it caught my eye. Great grow man, keep up the good work.

I should have been more specific. I figured you were transplanting up to the 20 but I was wondering If you had given a shot flowering in less than 20gallon.

Then I considered the old saying "if it isn't broke don't fix it"

GamesEarlJones- Yeah learning all these new plants is going to be a daunting task but a good skill to have.

BugJar- Why yes I have flowered in every size pot under 20 gallons, I use 10 gallon in my flip flop and 20 gallon in my big room currently. With 2.4 plants per light 20 gallon pots are the way to go for me. If I was running 6 per light or more I would step down for sure and shorten the veg.

I have a update on the OG/Chem room. Tonight was day 46. Everything is doing great everyone seems happy as hell in the mix minus a little tea burn and light burn. Everything smells good as hell and I am sure I will be torn picking my favorites. I am throwing another round in flower tomorrow that I got a better veg on. So both flip flop rooms will currently be these plants. When this room comes down Sour Bubble is replacing it, I can't let my patients sour bubble supply dry up.

First up is the Chem 91. I am familiar with the smoke and I like it alot. Now that I am growing it it seems so much just like a mini Chem D. I have smoked Chem D dom plants before and I know I can smoke the hell out a bag of it. I had a 1/2 of Che 91 not to long ago and it got smoked rather quickly lol.

The Ghost has me most intrigued, I like her smell and looks. I have had a small sample and I liked it alot. Her structure sucks but I don't mind having her for head stash. We shall see when it all comes down.

King Louie also has a nasty structure, but very tempting fruits. She looks to yield a liittle better.

This here is a SFV x Chem D found from seed by Idoreallytry. This is my first time growing this as well. So far it seems very Chem D dom. She reeks, is very sticky, a decently solid structure, and seems really happy. I am looking forward to a sack of this.

Here is the SFV. She is a lanky girl but a stanky girl. Again, lookng forward to getting better aquainted with this lady. I have another one in flower that has been getting sprayed for reversal for like 4 weeks. I plan to pollenate my sour bubble keeper with it and if I harvest enough pollen it will chucked aorund a bit. Probabaly chcuk some on katsu bubba kush at least.

What makes you think his mix is too hot? I dont see any tips burned and his yield is fantastic. Why change something when its not broken?

Infinitesimal- Seriously, I can see me having a problem doing that.

Idoreallytry- Right on bro thanks, your girl is the stickiest in there. Even my patient noticed that after inspecting each one, yours has a nice sticky to it. I think what you are seeing is the tea burn on your girl, I made some super tea that was way to potent lol First time I ever did that.

Ilovecoconuts- Thanks

Sneaky g- I hear that, I think IDO is just speculating from seeing the picture of his girl which got a little tea burn (SFV x Chem D). The burn is from additives not the mix.

Well IC, the AC is FIXED! Lets hope that is the end of that! Phew.....

Also tommorrow marks the one year anniversary of the first day I finished this build and moved plants in. I flowered out a rough 6K of a bunch of moms to get things going so really a full production year won't be until May-ish but it has been a good fucking year!

Congrats on the one year mark. Hopefully I'll be able to say the same come next spring. Hope to flip my first run in the barn on April 1st.

Here's wishing you another year filled with green goodness.

Looks like things are back on track over here. The structure on your SFV x Chem D appears way better than the cut we have......the one we have is a real pita to grow. Weak stems and picky little thing too boot......but it's what the people like.

@veggies : look into Comfrey & Aloe man if you're planting things this year. Comfrey is one of the oldest natural fertilizes around and produces AMAZING results in botanical teas and as a top dressing. Aloe juice contains high levels of saponins, like yucca extract which our particular plant loves. Increases immune defense and uptake plus a long list of other benefits. I wasn't a believer till I hit a garden with 2 oz/gal foliar. Every single plant assumed the prayer position. Results from the simplest of things is what I enjoy.

http://rareseeds.com/ for those heirloom varietals that'll make for some great summer feasting.

https://www.horizonherbs.com/ for Comfey & Aloe-- you want the bocking 14 cultivar for Comfrey. An amazing plant.
