How about stapling / nailing a strip of thin particle board on the inside of the door instead of the cardboard flaps taped on the outside? (Or any other thin material, possibly combined with weather strips to make a tight seal.) This would require you to close one door before another, but I would think it would be effective in blocking the light leak. Not to mention looking a lot more attractive.

Shall we arrange for a meeting at our secret exchange spot to collect the 8 raisins and 2 carrots? :gaga:

Jay, the temps are ridiculous. I put a thermometer in the right most light box (above the glass, which should be the hottest spot in the whole rig). Granted it's getting cold outside, but it never got above 79. Below the glass it's running about 74.

Problems?

-You'll notice the mesh in front of the intake for each exhaust fan... enough said I think.

-I also bought a dimmer for the exhaust fan as it's much too loud and unnecessarily powerful (the temp reading above was after the dimmer was installed and set at 1/2 power).

-Um and if you use a staple gun and staple through the cardboard back and then start monkeying around behind there, expect to get cut like a motherfucker all over the place from the ends of the staples that poke through.

-Always measure where your studs are (I had to angle my ducts and fans to miss them).

-And don't cut plastic with a diamond coated dremel disc (it melts and shoots out in hot little bits).

-Needed to add flaps of plastic above the intake vents that rested on the bags to keep extra light from spilling back into my main flowering room

-Oh, I ordered 8 inch desk fans for each cab. I'll mount them on the wall of each cab down about 5 inches off the ground and angle em up to get some movement in these cabs as the stems are in need of a little firming if they're going to hold up the monster buds I'm planning on growing.

-I was gifted some shitty bulbs and some of them are duds. And they aren't consistent duds, they'll light sometimes and not others. I'm getting 3 Agrosun Gold 400's to replace them.

I got more but that's the big ones...

Clowntown, there is another strip just like that on the inside... good call but no carrots or raisins.

Cheers, SC

wook , damn fine job brotha. Lovin the engineering. I have something i noticed your gonna want to keep an eye on. The plant labeled schrom in the cab... Trouble , trouble... She gonna grow out of control. Easily engulfing the entire cab. At least in my experience it stretches quite a bit in its first 3 weeks of 12/12. But hey man maybe you know this and are LSTing the hell of her. Keep up the awseome work. Peace

I hear you brother, training will def be required for these bushy ladies.

I've found that my amateurish staple gunning skills are paying dividends as I can hook wire through the protruding staples and pull down any high fliers.

The plants are about 2' tall and I've got another foot to work before the glass so vigilence will be required. But they're already on Day 3 of flower so I should be able to control the situation.

Cheers, SC

Heya Wook, great cabs, I love DIY stuff, and making use of the 'leftover' lights strikes near and dear to my heart.

Just a coupla things. I got my ballasts sans cord too, and was going to do the exact thing you did, until I passed the appliance aisle in Lowes and noticed the 10ft appliance cord for ten bucks. 3 wire nuts later and I was done, with a grounded plug :D

Also, if ya can wire the cords, you can remote the ballast. Just crack open the box (you'll see lots of confusing shit, but fear not!), look for the back/bottom of the outlet. You'll see two or three wires. Black, white, and possibly green. Just cut 'em, pull out the socket, and splice whatever length of wire you want back in.

Can't wait to see them girls all trained and topping out with massive colas an inch from the glass!

BTW, were the plastic Fantechs significantly cheaper than the metal ones? Or was it just a few bucks?
