Took another round of cuttings today (2 weeks since the last batch). Getting in as many reps as I possibly can with the space & plants I’ve got to work with. This time I took 5 Doughzer, 5 Hylife Trix, and 5 Forum Cookies. The Doughzer clones that were taken 14 days ago are just now starting to push out some roots - I’ll give them another couple days to better develop before I put them in soil. Definitely going to be focusing on shaving down that rooting time on the Doughzer as well as maintaining her overall clone health throughout the process. Hylife x Trix on the other hand… roots in 8 days like clockwork!

How we doing? Took another round of clones and got the previous (rooted) batch into soil. All the seed plants had 2 or more clones cut from them. I decided to flower out the cuts as opposed to the seed starts. Better genetic representation, plus I can better control my canopy that way. One thing about me is that the plan is forever changing, I adapt as I go lol.

Flower tent needs another week or so to fill out then I’ll lay the trellis and flip.

Day 3 of flower & we are looking A Okay. I set the first layer of trellis, cleaned the tent and tray - only hiccup was snapping a Hylife x Trix top when I lowered the trellis net down SMH. I acted very quickly and got it splinted with some scotch tape, fingers crossed for a full recovery!

This top was almost snapped all the way through. That’s what I get for moving too quickly! The tape job looks crude, but should do the trick. Only time will tell …

Day 9 - did some defoliation and set the 2nd trellis. Ready for blast off! Gonna do my best to keep the left side (Hylife x Trix) under control so it doesn’t over overtake the right (Doughzer). Stay tuned to see how that goes. Side note: Ideally I would’ve vegged a bit longer but decided to pull the trigger and flip so I can finish up before the hot weather.

Hey Grims, this is some beautiful cared for plants you have here, putting the love into this, you can see the plants respond so well.
You defoliate a lot, for great quality flowers, in your opinion- do you think yield takes a small hit?
I know you mentioned before that yield is the last prerequisite as your looking for new genetics, maybe vegging a week longer would increase weight just a little but you still getting the quality 😊

P.s first time I’ve seen that type of roach/filter on your joints, want to try that for sure.

Whats up Green81 - thanks for stopping by and dropping some kind words. I love working with this plant!

As for the defoliation technique - In my experience it’s actually helped with overall yield, bag appeal, and uniformity. I’ve seen some people go way more aggressive and I’ve seen people go way less. I think it’s just situational. Room specs, strains, overall goal.

Vegging longer - this is would DEFINITELY help out in the yield department. I’ve grown a few different styles in this 3 x 3 but have only had it really maxed out when I did 4 plants in 7 gallons and vegged for a LONG time. THIS run I’m on I should’ve let go another 8-10 days before I flipped them…but…
Two runs ago we had a heat wave in my area and my flowers got pretty much ruined - terps were torched. Pissed me off so bad, and being that I have limited temp control I told myself I’d never flower plants out here during the warm/hot weather again. So when I was mentally mapping this current run out - I wanted to keep it as cold as possible. Long story short - I prematurely pulled the trigger just to get the run going so I can finish it out stress-free. Yield will probably be pitiful, I’ve accepted that.

Cheers, GRIMS
