Hello and welcome friend. You could build a windbreak for those plants.
Cp,Unfortunately my piece of land is on a mountainous slope and we have 2 strong prevailing winds here and they blow from opposite sides, the strongest one blows up the slope, but that thought is under investigation for a long term solution like a hedge windbreak.

Do you have guys have Alnus (genus) in South Africa? , the best for windbreaks, upright fast growing trees, non invasive root system

LndRclvr, I try only allow indigenous plants, proteas and fynbos to grow on my property as that is what grows wild here. I have made some exceptions like my olive trees, mini citrus orchard but I'm quite stricked as I want all the indigenous animals to stay on my property and they will move if I start planting alien trees, but thanks for the thought.

Good shout you deffo don't want Alnus then as they spread like hell from seed
