That’s the one, I’ve only grown a few and stressed them out load’s trying to stop them outgrowing the space but the effects are incredible, one small spliff first thing and I’m out in the freezing wet and cold with a big grin on my face loving it.
It was taking hours of smoking and cafetières of coffee to feel well enough to venture out before finding it.
I got two female Chiangmai from Ace to the finish line last week. They are curing in grove bags now. I am excited to see how they smoke. Someone here posted back in 2021 I think this is the link

https://www.icmag.com/threads/thai-from-chiang-mai.317260/page-4#post-17800304

According to Phylos the Chiang Mai that Ace has is practically the same thing as Thai stick.

If the link is off the quote is not; I copied and pasted that from the thread here. I had already purchased the Chiangmai seed at that time and was very excited to read this. I think the original thread also had terpene profile printouts for the Ace Chiangmai as well.

I agree on the effects of good Thai. It’s always been my favorite but it’s been decades since I even smelled anything like the Thai from SoCal in 1977 era😠

I also have the RSCO Burmese ready for a long cure; 2 green phenotypes and 3 purple.

There is hope……

It’d be great to see more lab tests, the mountain gold and especially the new Oaxaca x Oaxaca I’d be very interested in seeing the results.
I’d be testing everything I grow if we had access to labs here.
What did the so cal Thai smell/smoke like?

That is a very important post.. that's what I've been searching for in a cool northerly outdoor environment, has been difficult enough. For Mountain Gold - was two plants out of five last year, and maybe 3 out of 8 this year not sure yet - No.5 was a bit of an anti social day ruiner yesterday (densest flowers, largest tricome), but No.1 & No. 8 were very easy going & smile inducing today. Found 1 out of 4 Purple Satellie suitable too. You finding every plant to your liking within that ACE Thai @H e d g e ?

Have drysifted PS and MG @FTL, both very suitable, exquisite flavour hash. A friend agreed the MG hash was probably the best smoke he's every had. Hand rubbed a PS near harvest - noteworthy how much came off, I figured that was the Nepalese genetics at play. Dynavap'd it there at the plot, was some flight cycle home that night!

Have some of those new Oaxacan Fems on the way, I hear mention they are potentially a stoney selection? Is there much variance between stoney/active&clear within that release @vermontman

Cheers!
Thanks for the info On the hash effects @bonghopper. I see you have done a few seasons with the mountain gold and purple sat at 50north no less!!!

Had a bit of a chuckle about your “flight cycle home” very cool you can ride to your plots mate.

How were the effects of the other 3/4 purple Sat for you?
I do like the sound of the 1/4 PS being an effect like @H e d g e described, motivating, positive and day brightening.

Also how did you find mold resistance in the mountain gold compared to purple sat?

Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the new Oaxaca :).

Effects varied a bit with the Thai but I like them all. One very clear focused motivating happy, strong lime smell, favourite so far. Another similar lime more trippy less happy but not at all dysphoric. Almost liberty cap.
Third floral pine harder to describe more complex smell, very bright happy contented feeling but not as sharp as the other two.
Keeping cuts of everything, not found anything I can easily part with yet.

Don’t wanna pollute this great thread with Ace references lol

The Ace Chiangmai thread here on Icmag had terpene tests posted

Here ya go

As for SoCal Thai, I’m terrible at describing smells. It was consistent is all I know, stick or bud at that time all smelled the same (1977)

I learned recently via Snowhighs Instagram that the Laguna Beach area was where the Brotherhood of Eternal Love moved their community to after they had to leave the canyon where they would go to take acid and meditate and commune with nature. I forget the name of the canyon. It was known by some other group of locals as well. Google BOEL

I also read Ronnie Bevans book recently and it was a quick read and inspiring.

I’m pretty sure the BOEL had even had to leave Laguna Beach by the time I arrived there in 1977. I just know a fellow marine was a local from that area and he consistently got me almost anything I wanted including excellent Thai sticks. I just figured the community in Laguna beach that stayed were well connected to the BOEL in terms of access to anything the BOEL still trafficked in. The smell of a shopping bag with Thai weed in it would fill the car immediately. I’d know it if I smelled it but cannot describe it. Steady climb with a creep to it and excellent creative energy. It’s all I’m looking for anyway.

I found this in my notes from Angus blog on RSCO

“Strong aromas such as musk, tobacco, dark chocolate, and overripe fruit are typical of this type of Central Lao cannabis”

“Resin levels in 70s ‘Thai Stick’ – produced in Central Laos and the neighbouring ethnically Lao region of north Isan – were high enough that US smugglers would test batches by squashing buds against a guesthouse wall”

Finally I must say this discussion of dreams and health is great stuff (tho I didn’t get any of the Purple Satellite😠) I’m looking forward to running the Mountain Gold, Oaxaca, and Zacatecas from VM and GMS.

I think the Kumaoni from RSCO is a good fit for my locale and is very nice. I think it’s a charas type landrace tho I’ve never tried doing that.

NASC are top notch as well

@Hedge, I know you were asking about Mountain Gold test results - can't find mine, grrr - but here's a Purple Satellite I grew a few years back that I thought you/others might like to see. (AKA - Med Man Mike)

Hello @Nannymouse!
No she has been my baby for decades I still keep the Green line and her sister Purple line for breeding, and of course the backbone to all my seed lines.
You made a reference a while back I believe to the possibility that the two lines might be related.
Your original and the new Oaxacan. Going back a bunch of generations.

Anymore information come out of that?

Hello @moose/MI!
No that was just my estimation because how similar they are in growth habit flowering time, fragrance and and overall structure.

Thanks for posting it, do you remember if the mg had cbd or does that come from the Nepalese? Please do tag me if you find the results.
Shame they don’t look for thcp, I guess it gets grouped together with thca or delta 9. I’m wondering if it’s that I’m finding helps.
