better to have weed and no money, because we could always sell a bit of weed to get by and of course we always needed to get high!
____
will get you through times with no money better than money will get you through times with no _____

Yes @vermontman that was something I heard often.

Reciprocation was a huge part of getting high in my life and experience.

My funny story is a bit winded but true

I recently reconnected with a high school classmate that often invited me to share his herb and vice versa. My sister moved back East and is staying with a friend temporarily and this classmate of mine was there doing some work. I texted my sister “ask him if he remembers that day we went to clean that pool after school and they had that wacky weed”

It was the first really powerful herb I can recall smoking. It seemed normal until it expanded in my lungs more than I’d experienced and without warning; I couldn’t hold it. I was no lightweight at the time (1974?)

Soon I had a brief problem catching my breath and my eyes teared up but then I started to recover and it had a very nice creep. Shortly I was really into the way the sunlight refracted in the water…….i don’t remember anything else that day.

He said “of course I remember, it was from Oaxaca and we got it from RA’s uncle who was from Mexico……..”

Just wanted to say I also enjoy the vibe here and am hoping everyone in the great state of Vermont is getting the help they need.

A word that was played out perhaps in my day but here I’ll use “righteous” to describe the humility and quiet strength of the comments here in support of @vermontman, his neighbors, and customers. I thought it was fitting to get some Oaxaca, Mountain Gold, and some of the Zacatecas tribute.

And I was gonna take a break and maybe travel a bit……

Hello @Airloom!
I love stories about the good old days! The seventies right on through were some amazing times of course inspired by by earlier artists, but we had the best music weed was more than just a commodity and friendships were based on trust and sharing times with clean cannabis landrace cannabis from all the sweet spots around the world. Like those beautiful gold Buddha in your avatar pic. I have thrived to keep these special one of a kind varieties through breeding at the latitude I am in, in the kinds of cannabis varieties that would reflect those days the best I can.
Being bowled over by all the modern day hybrids flooding the markets have left me a bit wary about the future for my work with my strains, so to see people appreciate them means to world to me like seeing one less animal go extinct at least for a while longer.
So thank you for your sharing of memories. If you are in the States Happy Thanks Giving to you and all and certainly great vibes to every one!

I lose more memories/stories every year but I never forget the trust and sharing of time that I’ve had the privilege to enjoy.

Every year I hope to grow some plants that will put a smile on someone’s face and inspire them to hang on to living.

Its like the myth of Sisyphus or Gandhi saying everything you do in life will be insignificant; but it’s important that you do it.

I try not to think of all the time I’ve wasted and just keep moving toward the horizon hoping there really is no end…..

Wow this thread got big since my last visit! Just popped a pack of zac and hoping someone can tell me if it’s any good for sleeping? I don’t mean falling asleep, I mean does it stop rem? I’ve got some great daytime smoke but it’s not helping with dreaming much so was hoping the zac might, there were some good smoke reports earlier but I don’t remember anyone mentioning it’s effect on dreams. Anyone?

The zac tribute I grew is ok, but not what is reached for when wanting to smoke- it grew beautifully and had a strong scent of lime to it, but it doesn't mix well with my chemistry. For me, it would not be the one for sleep, I would choose a more indica leaning strain.
Not to say that there is anything wrong with the strain, it's just the way it is with me.

@vermontman I’ve been following this thread for almost two years now and It’s the main reason I finally made an account after years of lurking.

I bought a couple packs of PS a couple weeks back to support your awesome work, respect.

Curious to hear if any one else does or doesn’t dream when they’ve smoked?

I find if I’m smoking heavily/regularly I don’t remeber my dreams at all no matter which strain I partake of.

Same here until I started smoking pure Thai, I don’t need nearly as much of it to relieve my other issues as other varieties I’ve smoked so could be it’d stop rem if I smoked more of it.
I think it was the mountain gold someone reviewed earlier and said it wasn’t good for stopping excessive rem but I can’t find it now.

I don’t want a sedative so much as something stimulating with heightened awareness which is good for pain and stress, that gets me functional during the day and also stops me dreaming at night so I don’t wake up so exhausted.

Yes, exactly what I’m after too.
Something that’s also kind to the mind over time if you know what I mean

I suspect my first ever smoke was mex brick and spent years after looking for anything similar. The ace Thai has been a game changer, much clearer effects than anything I found over there or anywhere else. I’m hopeful about mountain gold after reading the reviews but I’ll need an additional alternative if it doesn’t help with rem.
Have you found any that come close to what we require?

I don't spend much time on ICM, but I do drop in.
I am a lucky dude, as I get to try the goods grown by the master himself.
I have grown many Mulanje, GMG, Oaxaca, and a bunch of the precursors as well.

This year the OD grown GMG is the best version so far. The bud I purchased was Stinky of Grape.
Stunk up my car on the way home. Classic chunky sativa buds. I had been smoking Indica heavy Hybrids
and was no longer able to get really high as my resistance grew. The GMG blew thru that fog. Very Potent.
Really Up and Rushy Grapey POI no negatives at all. I always want to keep smoking more, it has that spirit.
Excellent morning high and there is no Let Down afterwards. Excellent euphoric effects. Normal forgetfulness.

I also got some of the Mountain Gold as well
Almost as potent as the GMG but the POI is more serious of a High. It has euphoria with an edge, like a Haze.
I went right for the headphones and played Hawkwind's Levitation album.
A good daytime herb in that there is no burnout, but im not smoking this and going to work in the kitchen. Too spacy.

A new version of Oaxaca was also available.
I do not know if seeds were made available yet, but it is also very potent, and more leaning towards the stoney effects. I have just started smoking it. So report not there.

A few years ago there was a standout Mulanje and these rival that memorable plant of "Pineapple Mulanje"
if i remember correctly.

Searching thru the Mulanje is a worthwhile venture. Its unusual that I don't have any growing at the moment.
Its been in my grow for many cycles. It can survive a summer in South Florida outdoors sans any Hurricanes.

I’m from the Southern Hemisphere and started partaking in the early 90s.

So Mexican brick was never a thing Here, the Thai imports had finished up. It was all home grown.

I used to get old home grown outdoors mid 90s. It was real day brightner stuff. You’d smoke it then run all the way home to take a bite out of a lettuce from the fridge grab ya surfboard and hit the waves for few hours with a big grin on ya dial. It was all seeded hermy stuff and the best ones smelt like mint or oranges, but tbh I have no idea what was in it. I suspect it was old Thai stick seed mixed in with local strains.

Modern strains: I find Jack works really well for me just that right amount of pick up and relaxation at the same time. Brightens my day and takes my mind of any pain and no paranoia.

How about yourself apart from Thai and mexi brick?

Exactly this! I ran/flew all the way home and then spent years being endlessly disappointed by hash.

Then more wasted years growing skunk hybrids with little medicinal use, high tolerance and unpleasant side effects. I actually began to prefer the weaker ones because the side effects were less pronounced (probably containing cbd) but the medicinal properties were near nonexistent and tolerance worse, I was easily getting through an oz a week and still struggling with my symptoms.

I liked the charas that sometimes arrived from India and the Lebanese hash but nothing came close to my first smoke or the Chiang mai I’m currently smoking.
I’m hoping the mountain gold is similar in effect to the Thai or first love ?mex brick? for a bit of variety (not popped mine yet) but dreaming remains an issue so the hunt continues.

The only hash I’ve ever seen down here is home made. But I enjoyed it.

I can relate 100%.
The Dutch hybrid buzz just all became same same for me 2010s onwards . Tolerance and amount consumed grew in tandem. Changing up strains worked for a bit until it didn’t as all the highs seemed to be very similar and flat. Had a few tolerance breaks mixed in there for good measure too.

Plants getting chosen for production > quality of effect Unfortunately, as happens in a black market.

I’m really keen to try @vermontmans Mexican crosses and other Mexican NLD strains, they sound right up my alley.
Also very interested in HimalayaS for hash making and relaxing buzz.

Was that the Chang mai from Ace?

That’s the one, I’ve only grown a few and stressed them out load’s trying to stop them outgrowing the space but the effects are incredible, one small spliff first thing and I’m out in the freezing wet and cold with a big grin on my face loving it.
It was taking hours of smoking and cafetières of coffee to feel well enough to venture out before finding it.
