i got a tri-pod to try out tonight...if i can't get a good focused shot then i don't know what..:smokey:

the tripod will help !!! it helped me get clearer & decent close ups ! & you really should try to get pics without the lights on . the orange glow distorts the pics alot .i go in 10 minutes before lights on , so i'm not effecting the lights out period to much .

I have an expensive Sony camera from over 10 years ago, and the problem is the autofocus sensor picks the wrong spot to focus on. Between that and HPS lighting, all my growing pictures have sucked.

fwiw, links to hps lens filters. I have tried NONE of these so use your own judgement:

cell phone: Vivagrow, $25

SLR: Method Seven filter, $129

and, while looking for filters, I found a reasonably helpful guide to HPS photography , for those like me who are way back on the learning curve

I remember back in the day, I took a lense from a pair of sunglasses and taped it over the lens of my camera, and was able to get good shots under hps lighting, you wouldn't have known filtered the hps red right out.

Finding the right PAS makes a huge difference in pic quality. My Canon SX710 PAS cant take pics as good as my Nikon s8200. All of my pics are with my Nikon. Both of these pas are in the same price range when new. The Canon is newer but I dont use it much.

My nikon 3200slr is pretty sweet. My Samsung s6 with upgrade is bad ass for a cam phone. 16mp, full light spectrum adjustability. I use it more than my nikon.
