'Goldfinger' - Malawi Gold X Flo

Thanks folks - much appreciated. This last Goldfinger was definitely the tastiest yet, though the previous pheno was probably slightly higher-yielding. Still, the best things often come in smaller packages, so I'm not too distraught about that.

I retrieved about 15 seeds from that plant - I did pollinate a bud, but only found two on that actual bud - the rest were 'around' about it, and could be pollen that fell off - it wasn't very viable stuff, so I can't be 100% certain that's where they're from, sadly, but they could be the F2s that I need.

Would rather have a thousand though, so I'm still planning a new Goldfinger grow for a new male as soon as my latest seedlings are out of the way.

I had to chop my Goldfinger at 11 weeks, she needed 12. However, at 11 she tasted divine, very sweet and lavender with some berry notes, not as berry tasting as she smelt while growing, no earthiness at all, just a very soft lavender taste, very nice indeed. Yield is well, about average I guess, not big, not tiny, I got slightly more than 20g from mine. She likes to grow lots and lots of small chunky fotailed buds all over a big plant with large calyxes that take on some purple tints, this would be the ideal strain for a SCROG, fil lthe screen 50% then flip to flower and the large elongation she has will fill the rest of the screen then the way she likes to grow lots of small buds everywhere will give you a shag pile carpet of little pink/purple foxtails and I imagine this would give a very nice yield too with a high node density of at least 2 budsites in each of the 2 inch sq grids of the mesh.

I kept a cut and was vegging it out ready to do as a single plant SCROG in a 2x2 area under a 250 (I got a 2x2 tent free) but sadly had to cancel that and throw the cut away.

I got about 20 seeds off mine after a Oaxacan in the room hermied and pollinated her, if ya want em, I'll save em for ya, I have em in a lil baggie labelled just in case.

I would like to see an outcross of this Goldfinger pheno to a Grape Krush male, preferably of the intensely Berry smelling/tasting pheno, that female GK I grew was the best smelling plant I have had for a while and tasted divine and in terms of structure was almost the polar opposite of this Goldfinger, the Goldfinger grows immensely tall and wide with branches everywhere and little buds everywhere, the GK grew as a tiny squat indica budstick with minimal branching and no stretch when flowered, this cross sounds so good to me I demand you get it done! lol

I'll see what I can do on that! I still got a few GK seeds left. But got these Blue Satellites to wrestle with too - won't be able to keep any males of this run, as I've got a MoFlo male just about to start dropping in the isolation chamber, and can't afford any confusion, so all males will get binned, sadly, unless, y'know...

As for the Goldfinger, I've got a fairly large plant that I'll be able to reclone soon - it's not the highest-yielding pheno out of the four so far, but definitely the best-tasting, although the original bluebell/honey pheno from batch 2 was a close one. But it's clear there's some divine smells and flavours in this cross, and as the high's also so pleasant, I can live with a slightly lower yield, at least for this generation.

One other thing - my 'Project X' cross (Goldfinger X MoFlo) is almost done, and looks really, really interesting - vastly more resinous than the Goldfinger, or any MoFlo - that 2nd-gen MoFlo male I used last year has really amped up the resin content on the offspring I've seen so far. More on that when I chop it in a week or two...

Mr Elevator... this has to be one of the nicest plants i've seen in a long time. the finished buds are beautiful and by the sounds of it, the smell is divine.

Curious.. How tall are the goldfinger averaging at harvest?

That's the one I would want to keep :kos: Although this strain overall seems very low yielding, it's still worth it eh :D

I hate to say it but a friend stumbled upon a sativa that was still vegging outdoors. He stole the entire plant and brought it over to his friends house. I kept telling him to leave it outdoors, as were in Houston TX, almost as close to perfect as it gets for the continental U.S. for sativas... Anyways, he ended up leaving at his inexperienced and completely ignorant friends house. Anyways, the plants ended up looking exactly like the Malawai pictures you posted..identical. I couldn't say anything about the bud, because someone was drunk and tried to actually steal bud off this dudes plants...I swear there weren't even buds, maybe like small calyxes etc... The plant went into shock and ended up dead. I swear to God, this pissed me off more than anything ever. This plant, even if it wasn't the Malawi, had to be a landrace sativa... it would have been so amazing if he just kept it outdoors.... :|

I ended up naming the strain/plant "Bad Karma". My friend stole it from some most likely cool dude, some drunk douche tried to steal it
while it was still growing, and then it died. He stumbles upon his dream plant, steals it, someone tries to steal it, it dies. He should have just taken a couple cuts off of it and left it there, which is still stealing, but as long as he didn't kill the plant in the process...

Bad Karma :D

swishaman - Heh - that's what happens! Shame about that though, all the same. Some people.

newsisnoise - my cabinet is very small, and so I'm having to tie my Goldfinger into a ball practically to keep it to size, but I'd say about a metre comfortably, if you flower it at about 12"-16" in a large pot. This pheno is slightly more Flo-dominant than the last one, so wouldn't make the long colas, but it's only F1 still, and that can be remedied. Also I'll be putting some MoFlo pollen on it next week, which will give me three batches of Goldfinger X MoFlo to play with!

Here's the current Goldfinger squashed into the left-hand corner of the cabinet, and a close-up - it's about five weeks:

It is a lovely smoke, and on this pheno at least, so few leaves it's barely credible - takes about ten minutes to trim. I might get some pollen on it tomorrow actually, and give them a good six weeks on the plant, just to be sure.

oh you should!!! you know how i feel about that.....I want to have my dirty paws all over them. It gives me the shivers thinking about having these bad girls in my garden.

one day we'll smoke one together. Then you can give me some tips on your growing style.

beautiful, just beautiful! I've got a few sativa that're stretching like crazy. i was a little slow puting them under 12hr light. two are about about 2 feet now and one is about 3 1/2 feet. i wish i knew what strain they were. i'm definately gonna have to tie them down.

:)

At last! That's really good news Raco - glad you enjoyed it - I wondered whether you'd managed to try some! :)

My latest pheno (the berry/lavender pictured previously) is almost finished its second test run - it's good enough to use for breeding definitely, so I'm starting a few more seeds soon for the 'ultimate male'. Can't wait to read the smoke report...:)

Well I chopped my latest plant of the berry/lavender pheno last week, which was grown with minimal CO2 and bat guano supplementation - it's scarily potent, even after a week drying. I don't know why, but it is definitely stronger than the previous grow of the same pheno, and tastes wonderful.

It's almost a little too strong actually, as you want another smoke way before you should, as it's so delicious, but the slower onset and lack of ceiling could really catch out the unwary. The duration is literally many hours. My tolerance is very high, and I almost got rattled today - as each hit overlaps and adds to the last, you end up in very psychedelic state indeed. One to keep, I think...:)

wow, can't believe i missed this post till today, EM your skills are amazing as always, and the choice of genetics is spot on! One day when cannabis prohibition is relaxed even more, I will be askin' for some seeds of this one!
