Hi Ojd,

No pics sorry,...did have some but have removed them from my pc due to the below.....

Quick update for you all from AMAZING THAILAND,..... i have been stopped 7-8 times in the street and on my motorbike in the last 2-3 weeks by the POLICE,......About once every 2 -3 days.

Therfore i have desided to remove all evidence of "use" or "cultivation" for the moment.

there is no real government here at the moment,..so the police can do what they like, and do..
Its the same for everyone even the 60+ lady from France who lives in my block keeps getting accussed she is using ganja/Yabaa, or done something she shouldn't have,....and of course one then gets asked for money......lol
I think i have been to the police station for nothing 3 times in the last 3 weeks, just because they think i will crumble and give them money.

But the plants were quite nice and stocky in appearance considering they are pretty much 100% sativa. I managed to keep most of my plants under 1.25m and 1 or 2 colas.
Although there was alot of difference between phenos in the best varitey i had found, and this also hermied a bit, but it was vey nice and had the most pleasant smell,.....kinda like Kali Mist.

If you search for tropical growing on the forums you will find many examples of tropical Sativa. Look for Chaman, Raco, PAz, for very good examples of equatorial sativas including "Thais".
Look for Chamans Destoyer he grew its huge and a massive yeild. This plant is a mix of south American/thai, etc and it came from Breeders in Spain, but i was grown/flowered in An Equatorial Zone which is where the original genetics came from (mostly).

Peace and keep it safe always.

Oh and for the Boys In brown,....look at my F**King Avatar u MOFOS

Wow, those are some nice pictures.

Thai Flowers, I heard that the president there resigned or got kicked out or something. What happened?

I'm assuming the cops there are like Mexican Policia: they can pretty much do anything they want and civil rights are a concept which eludes them. Oh yeah, and they seem to also be aable to demand bribes do they don't keep screwing with you.

So, how do you end up in the police station 3 times? Do they come to your place at random and say, "You're coming with us", or do they grab you off the street?

This is such a weird concept to me. As much as I fear my police and government, I have never experienced anything close to that here in America.

Good luck!

As Thai Flowers said, I felt a clear change in attitude towards Cannabis during my last trip to Thailand. Whether you want to pin it on ex prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra or not, or even the political turmoil Thailand's going through at the moment is up to you. I personally see the US (read DEA) involvement in Asia as the primary reason for the change, since you have a similar evolution in neighbouring countries like Cambodia and Laos, in fact all over Asia. It's the same story that repeats itself; political and economical blackmail is used by the US to impose changes in drug legislation, then the DEA cavalry arrives and stages their war on drugs operations (it's great to be a CIA or DEA agent abroad, because you can get away with a lot of things you can't get away with at home, and even if you're hampered by your ignorance and arrogance of other cultures, lack of democratic game rules is always a great help in getting the job done). Thailand was so eager to get off the US blacklist of drug exporting countries that they signed up for the super detox treatment. With one foot already in the industrial world, they had no other choice than to go along in order to look respectable in the eyes of the western world. It didn't really matter that many of the northern provinces were economically dependant of their drug crops (mainly opium), and that those crops could have been recycled into pharmaceutical products. Nope, full scale war, imprisonment and the destruction of lives and livings was the way to go. Total eradication, without regards to consequences. In Cambodia and Laos, the DEA effect is even worse than in Thailand since they lack Thailand's economical boom. Decades ago, Cambodian and Laotian mothers used Cannabis as an herb for cooking, it grew all over in backyards and abandoned fields and there was no real market for it. Nowadays, it's all under the table. Drug cartels and mafia syndicates have taken control over the production and distribution. The price of high grade bud in Cambodia will soon catch up with the rest of the world. Afghanistan is probably the worst example of US involvement. The Talibans did a much better job at supressing opium agriculture, since they were integrated in the Afghan society on a grassroot level. The US administration simply thought they could wipe out millenium old traditions with 15 000 US troops, and slapping local warlords on the fingers saying "naughty naughty, you're not supposed to make good money on drugs anymore." Illegal Afghan drug exports now amount to close to 4000 tons yearly (while close to zero during the Taliban regime). With all the taxpayer's money wasted on DEA bullshit operations, it's nice to see the people getting it back just for once. Way to go Afghanistan!

Very true Rosy Cheeks,

i think the saying goes "you hit the nail on the head".

SUper Detox treatment,....thats it, it did cost many lives here. The police were taking people from public buses, etc and finding "stuff" and shooting on the spot,...yeh fooking putting a .45 to the "Offenders" head and pulling the trigger.
Revenge or hits were common also with police "planting" and shooting on the spot and getting paid for it by a 3rd party.
The talk around town was that 3000-5000 "dealers" were taken out to stop them talking basically. The reason being is that these dealers mainly have to deal with Army/Police "mafia" to operate which in turn deal with the people in charge of the country.
Order was given and approved and hey presto Army/Police turn and hunt down there workers,....type thing.
Thus more aid money comes in, Blah, Blah, Blah.

Krustytheclown,
i get stopped on the street or or whilst on my bike, they normally say you have done something wrong and demand money, if you dont have enough they kindly take you to the ATM or home to provide them with there "bonus"

Laughable isnt it..... im off for a bong or 3

Peace

I lived and worked in Thailand for quite a while, and have also travelled there and in Laos fairly extensively

I can recommend the following places, purely from a safe tourist smoking perspective:

any of the many cafes in Vengvieng, Laos (near Vientienne, the capital)

The Rasta Cafe, in Chang Mai (often have good Thai stick)

Siam Cookies ("Cookies"), on Koh Tao - 99.9% safe

Siam Cookies, on Koh Pan Ngang (same family) - 99.9% safe

I would advise that you only smoke in establishments which have a conspicuous smoking and selling policy, such as The Rasta Cafe, meaning that they have payed their bribes - buy there and smoke what you have there, unless you are 1010% certain that your guesthouse is totally OK with you smoking there

Don't smoke in public and don't buy in quantity unless you are clinically insane or incredibly rich lol

If you are buying and smoking in small quantities your main worry is not jail, you worry is getting asked to pay a heavy bribe possibly in the order of several thousand quid

if you end up at the station it will either be through incredible bad luck or through total stupidity/arrogance

my advice if you are totally totally fucked and cannot pay the bribe - make a huge scene, go hysterical, and start crying - keep it out in the street and as public and intense as possible... there is nothing Thai police will hate more than a scene and for loads of people to be gorping, they will back down and fuck off pretty likely

bear in mind that most Thais don't like the police - they are looked upon with total contempt and it is seen as a job for idiots (they also have a pitiful salary)

[edit - reason for this strategy is in my experience of Asian cultures esp. Chinese and Japanese, and Thai (SE Asia) also, to a lesser degree, people cannot stand socially awkward situations esp. embarassment... I met a group of insane Brits who got busted with serious amounts in Banglhampu in BKK and got away using this tactic, the girl claiming she was pregnant with the guys baby etc. - long story]

that said, your worry is that unscrupulous and/or broke Thais will be willing to a deal with the filth in exchange for a cut of your money

also, don't attempt to buy from strangers, taxi drivers, or anyone else, unless you are back at their place and you are 110% sure they are cool - if you follow those general points, esp. in Bangkok, then you should be fine

my two cents,

Namkha

old-timer ex-pats up in Chiang Mai may be your best bet if you are looking to get hold of high quality Thai stick, or to get to good growing villages up in the hills

p.s. on my last visit (02/06) the going tourist rate was about 500baht for 10 - 15 g on Koh Tao, about 500 - 700 baht for 10g in Chiang Mai

I've not been up to Chiang Mai in many years now, but once upon a time The Moon Garden was a good hook up. Located on Moonmuang road, if that's how it's spelt.

Laos has got to be the best bet these daze, just steer clear of the tuk-tuk drivers offering you weed outside guesthouses, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
Get on down to the talat sao, or morning market and hunt out the mamas selling tobbaco from huge sacks. They'll see you before you see them, and will know exactly wat you're doing mouching road the market. If you feel like trying a bit of the lingo hit them with " saa, me baw?" basically translates as "Do you have any weed", and something to note is that although they're not out to rip you, be careful how much kip you hand over. Those notes are worth next to nothing, so best work out $5 worth and just hand it over, I'm sure you won't be disappointed :joint:

Yeh sorry I meant to make clear that all the advice above was intended to apply to Thailand, Laos is by comparison very safe

One friend of mine did manage to get busted in Laos, in Muang Xing (near the Chinese border, if I have got the name right)

We were traveling together, but he was out late, past twelve, way after all the lights were out - there was him and two other backpackers sat outside making a fair amount of noise, drinking, and smoking weed

Soon enough a bunch of Laos guys came along, with some cops, and I think a rifle or two, if memory serves. They took them to the station (we are talking about a one street town here) showed them a lump of ganja and said: "The man who have this - we cut off his hand", then demanded money lol

So my mate payed up about a 100 quid or so, I think, and then headed out early the next day

He wasn't exactly surprised, by his own admission he was asking for it

Getting busted in asia is never fun, but given the choice I'd much prefer to deal with the Laotian cowboys than those Bangkok boys in brown.
I got my collar felt in Bangkok a few years ago, and even though I managed to sort it before being taken down the road it was still a rather unpleasant expeirience! I had to move apartment, and everytime I got spotted comin & goin to work the rotten bastard took great pleasure in searching my bag :cuss:

It's a dam shame the local constabulary in BKK aren't as easily satisfied as the traffic cops. After years of riding bikes around I found the easiest way to deal with them was to start speaking broken German, they soon sent me on my way rubbing their aching heads

Nice input namka. 110% cool taxi drivers? That will be hard to find, In my extensive travels around the world, I've found that one thing all cultures have in common is that the local cabbie will try to pull one on you. It may only be for small change, but still. I spent almost a week in Pai (up north) and didn't see a single cop in the whole time. The weed I got here came from Chinese merchants, don't ask me how it works. It's reputation as a hippie hangout will soon come to an end though, since massive tourism is moving in on this beautiful place. Soccer bars and 4 star hotels are under construction, and with the money up for grabs, police and other racketeers will try to get their piece of the cake, just like down south. I was sitting on the back of a big, docile elephant when I started panicking from the Sativa weed. I mean, you can actually hurt yourself bad if you fall off, and the only thing to hold on to are the ears... She threw me off while crossing a river and I landed unharmed in the drink. I first figured she got tired of having a spaced out white boy on her back, but it turned out she'd been trained to do that, because the driver had his camera up and ready just when it happened and took that perfect picture of me sailing through the air. Just another dishonest elephant cabbie...

hehe

I hear plenty of the yabba is coming from China these days too - read a story about fires starting in home amphetamine production etc. that's all

were they selling Chinese hash - the "Uighur" stuff, or weed?

just curious, never made it to Pai myself, but they do have Chinese hash in Laos, and it's the same in Taiwan I think

(busy listening to this Fela album - Gentleman - amazing)

Cheers

It was weed, heady stuff, not as potent as what I got in Cambodia, but enough to get the jitters on top of an elephant. I'm not sure if the weed was Chinese, just distributed by Chinese. It seems like Chinese crime syndiates are taking over the traffic in this part of Asia since the Golden Triangle was closed down, basically the only result from US actions. Pai's just a muddy little village in the middle of nowhere, but the landscape around it is magnificent. Camp fire evenings drinking beer to acoustic Bob Marley and Cat Steven tunes, think away the beaches and the heat and it's just like down south.

hiya, as far as my understanding goes the Chinese have had a large hand in drug production in the Golden Triangle area inc. other parts of Northern Thailand since sections of the KMT (Kuomintang / Guomindang) settled there after taking a drubbing from Mao

(this is the same KMT as also in part fled to Taiwan of course)

in the larger scope of things "the Chinese" (Hakka etc.) are the most powerful economic group in SE Asia anyway, even in Thailand, not to mention Malaysia etc etc.

i.e. if there is a pie, there will be plenty of Chinese fingers in it, for sure, especially if it is one of those dodgy meat "Moon Cakes" they do at Lunar New Year lol

Pai sounds alright - I saw it there on the map, and heard plenty of reports that it was worth a visit

yeh rural Thailand is great that way with cops - but re. playing it safe you still have to watch yourself - gossip travels fast as fuck in Thailand IME... so for anyone thinking of scoring a larger than usual stash of weed don't be decieved, the village/town cop could know before you've finished your Chang as it were

they are also into roadblocks these days, and any excuse they could stop you... though I have to say, I was lucky, rural Lopburi Koh Samrong, and up round Chiang Mai they seemed only interested in stopping Thais and just ignored me... mostly we are talking traffic cops looking for drop suspension road bikes etc. they are only interested in drugs in roads coming from borders IME eg Chang Kong from Laos where they often pull over buses and bring on dogs etc.

(the dogs are useless I reckon lol but don't bank on it)

Just as an update, the Rasta Cafe in CM is no longer in service and has changed owner and name. However the area is still a good place to get things sorted, although a bit expensive. But I would not recommend toking up in the area as it is now frequently patrolled.

Does anyone have any information for scoring in Chiang Rai?
