Good choices, and also good to hear you got a good germ rate.

It does sound like you may have started them a little early. Here at 52N plants can be put outdoors around mid-May. You should be OK if you can keep them indoors near a sunny window till then hopefully (if you are not much further north than we are here) - it should give them a good head start, but you might find that once outdoors they will get very big (8+ feet is easily possible depending on strain), so depending on how well you can conceal them, you might find that you need to use techniques to limit their height. I would "layer" them personally (see the link to my 2009 outdoor grow in my sig for more info), but you could top them or tie them down to keep them low down.

Also, you might find that they start to flower in late spring since the day length is still very short, but they should revert back to veg mode around May time.

Keep us updated :)

hello neongreen :tiphat:

i decided to start them erly so i maybe can be lucky to sex them before they get outside,
and this way i can take some cuts from each other before they get out and let them root then they are gona go out later.
im keeping them under fluorescent right now coz they are young, then they are gona get throwen under the mh with all the tomato and chilli plants.

your garden looks nice, there are some great info in your threads.:dance013:
pic's will come when i throw them under the mh with in the next 14 day's

i think we are gona have a long summer in dk this year:tiphat:

Ahhh, got you now. Yes, that makes sense. That is pretty much what I did last year (with some plants - not all), but I struggle to grow indoors so for me it was a race to get them out before they started to go too much downhill! I will start some at the end of this month this year too, just to get a bit of an indoor head start.

Thanks. I've actually moved since 2009 and have a garden with a lot more space/privacy now so this year will be growing more outdoors than at any time in the past :)

If you do try layering (there are many benefits to layering besides keeping your plant profile more discrete!), then it's actually a good thing to keep them a bit away from the lights so that they stretch and become spindly before they go out. That makes them easier to layer, and less chance of accidentally snapping the main stems. The trick (I have found) is to layer as soon as possible. If you leave it too late (less than 1.5-2 months before they are due to flower IME) the layer will probably not root!

:tiphat:

i think im gona flip a small mix together today and get the soil out in the beeds prety soon
i have not tryed layering before :) i plan on just letting them do their thing and just place some support sticks and netting when needed.

i have seen some pic's of it done with the danish gold
i might try it on one if she is real stretchy before she goes out

well i was gona go buy some more pots for the transplant but thanks to the ( DIY Smart Pots Tutorial. Thread) i decided to give it a shot and make them my self (my mom did the machine stitches) im a total retard when it comes to the stitching part of things hehe ^^''

here is a pic of 1 pot out of the 30 pots we made (it took only 35 min) it would have taken longer for me to go buy them at the shop in town :D

That plant is already a perfect candidate for layering. Give it a try and I'm sure you'll like what you see. If you start putting some bends in the stem early on (now) it'll make things a little easier later on - try for something like an "S" shape that starts about 1/3 of the way up the plant.

Looks like you're off to a good start anyway :)

hello neongreen :)

im gona give it a try and see how it goes, there are plenty of time before they are gona go out so i have some time to play with her:laughing:

the plants are getting to big for the cups and i need to get my ass of the couch prety soon and get the final veg's room rdy to rock (they all need a transplant)

i am trying to get in contact with a local former gardner (i want to rent her old greenhouses) she is to old to use it eany more so i might rent it of her and get a greenhouse going to,
im crossing my fingers and hoping for the best,
they are the biggest green house's i have ever seen:dance013:

Well, don't leave it too long. It's better to start when the main stem is sill very flexible - later on it'll be more prone to snap. Start off slow/gingerly till you have a feeling for how much the stem will take before it snaps, and higher up the plant so that if it does snap, at least most of the plant will remain :)

That would be great if you can get a greenhouse. I'm hoping for a poly tunnel this year as well ;)

N

newtothiscoco

ye i guess its the same as supercropping :)

yes the greenhouse would be good coz then im sure im gona produce what my mom need for a year, and there might be enouth for a bit to me to

nice are you gona build it your self or buy one finish :)

Yeah, exactly like supercropping, except that you'll get a better yield than supercropping alone :)

I've already got all the parts for the poly tunnel (from a company that makes them) and have already leveled the site. Just need to put it up once the weather is better and we can get someone to help who has some experience. Don't want to make any mistakes as it cost quite a bit!

sounds great how big is the tunnel :woohoo:
the weather sucks today its snowing with the sun in the skyes.:skiiing:

The weather here is sucking (or perhaps "blowing" might be a better term!) too. Hopefully it'll have calmed down in 2 or 3 months time enough to resume the project.

The tunnel is approximately 25 x 80 feet, but most of the beds will be fruit/veg, at least for the moment ;)

I know what you mean!

Just 2 females? How many did you want? There is still time to germ a few more (exactly what I'm doing right now!) :)

Be careful of surprise/late frosts. Be ready to bring plants indoors overnight or cover them with fleece if you can't bring them in.

Here at 52N I won't be putting anything out for at least a month, and even then there may still be possibility of surprise frosts.
