yea that was fun.... but it did take a year to plan and get everything organised...... that dive alone took 2 boats 10 people and 12 hours in the water all so i could see what it was like at 330 for 28 minutes..... you have to plan for the mental stresses as well, The euphoria... its like being drunk bad decisions are easy to make past 120 feet..... you literally only breathe enough oxygen to survive on.... oxygen is toxic as hell at depth so it really gets tricky with all the different gas blends you have to have set up for different depths....HeliOxi and triblends..... Joe they literally had to hoist me and my gear out of the water..... exhaustion took me at about 60 feet on the way up and all i could do was go limp and breathe at that point my dive was in very trusted hands but not my own...I couldn't switch gear or regulators on my own and had to breathe two more gas blends before getting out of the water.....but even that was planned for...... It took a week to get past the exhaustion.... Most divers about 98% of them never see and depth past 120 feet...... you have to want to go deep...Really want it..... My Girl Krista is going to 330 next month that's my primary dive partner.... we plan one deep dive a year through our shop...... In the world of Diving..... you earn your own chops..... ya know.... Want that king of respect from your peers and other divers... you have to earn it......
ehhh gads 300 ft ? I don't go higher than a gg4 plant and no lower than potatoes and a dive is a really bad bar , :tiphat::tiphat:

Willie and Waylon and Hank jr, and Kriss OUTLAW'S RULE

I'm not a country fan. i grew up in Oklahoma. One of the main radio stations was KEBC: Keepin' EveryBody Country. It was everywhere and I grew to hate most of it. All the faux cowpokes with their big buckles and pressed hats and their fancy boots that would never see a stirrup. Posers all.

There were a few singers though that I did respect. Johnny Cash of course, Merle Haggert, Hoyt Axton, some others. I miss some of the really great songs from back then, like Hoyt's "Boney Fingers":

Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?

not sure why I can never get the youtube insert thing to work

I understand that. But, the risk/reward equation... Is their respect worth you dying? Same for mountaineers, race drivers, football players, boxers and other risky pursuits. It's worth it until the never event occurs.

I guess one could make the same discussion about illegal growing: is the reward (money, respect, etc.) worth the risk of large parts of your life spent in prison. It is until it isn't.

Ok then, on that upbeat note, have a happy May Day every one!!

12 Years ago i was told i would never walk again.... after a car wreck..... every day from that day till today at every opportunity I have pushed myself.... If you haven't noticed i set the bar very high for myself...... I have very high standards of performance for very personal reasons..... Friendship and respect comes easily..... when you work hard to reach those goals.....

The thing about the risk is simple.... Very few people ever really live..... As Hunter Thompson said.... The only people that know where that line is are the one who have crossed over it from time to time.... Many people simply dont understand that people that are driven.... are that way for a reason..... Being paralyzed..... from the sternum down for 5 months that did it for me.... I was active before..... Now i just never stop....... you have to want to take that first step so badly..... The first movement i had after months of trying...was a slight kick of the foot... First i learned to walk again.... then i devoted my self to diving because its hydro therapy at it very best.. Ive gone as far up that ladder as i care to go.... Im growing now..... and im the rookie in the room again...... but not for long i think... maybe in 3 years or so..... ill have some good experience in growing and be killing it two....

yup,i see that with the local mountain bikers...a lot of people go riding with us once, but not many show up for a second ride...90% of them are content to ride the same loop on the trails over and over...very few will venture out in to the back country...or think its nuts to hike a bike for hours pushing a bike someplace you wont even be able to ride back down!...wait,that is nutty!

I know risk pretty well. We engage each other daily. Most of what I do is about reducing risk, for those I'm working with and for myself. That risk averse mentality is why I asked that question of value. Looking at what it would mean to go further in diving, I'm glad you've found your edge and can look to other pursuits for similar rewards

Unc, is there any biking equivalent of the ultra-runners Rim to Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon? Is biking even allowed there?

. Many people simply dont understand that people that are driven.... ..
I have had people tell me I couldnt do something. I told them they dont set my limits and I went and did what they said I could not do.

Once I was told I could not roof a 60 unit apartment building alone. It took 10 days.

Most people fail before they even start. Most people are not driven because they have beat themselves up so much mentally they dont know what they can do anymore.

I have no interest in diving I will leave that to you. I am glad that you dont impose someone else limits on your self. Unc he is just crazy with his bike carrying all over the desert. Unc the have s seat so you can ride them you know?

You just have to get out there and test your self... Life is to short to sit Back and wait for new discoveries to come to you.... You will never know what your limits are.... Unless you test them and push them some... My goals are different with growing... Quality is truly what I'm after... The two pound mark was me seeing if I could do it...... Nothing more.... I fell short... But it's just killer bud... Even failure is an opportunity to learn and expand your knowledge... I have no interest in becoming a warehouse grower.... Just enough enjoy the experience..... But I'm after the highest quality attainable..... I'll get there in time

They are very rare in warm waters like we have here.... Bull sharks domanite the waters here.... It's common to see sharks but I have never been diving with a Great White.... I want to go to southern Australia to do just that one day though..
