i was gonna say that.

v+b & epsom isnt alot of work, risk, drama, or complication... plus you know it already.

nuts to change a thing.

It's expensive... Not locally available..and has a few other issues . But i fear the cost of a learning curve would cost way more... For the moment... And once I promiced Dan I wouldn't expermit with plants I cant afford to loose... Keeping that promice... I just have to ya know...:tiphat:

You got nothing but time. Knock down a few harvest and then when you're sitting on a nice stack, and not depending on crops, you can try new things. I am going to finish the Dan's Buds memorial grow with V&B. Then probably going to switch to Mills nutrients, or maybe General Organics, or Vegmatrix. Not sure, maybe a side by side comparison. My garden is so small, I can experiment without spending a small fortune.

Hope everything goes well for you.

i checked the price. had the small tub of v&b. loved it for foliar applications. ive moved on to amended coco/promix & floranova & the general organics line. but i dont think v&b is expensive for what it does... considering all you need with it is epsom. its not bad for the price per gallon. in my local hydro store, they have it on the shelf. i can see an issue if procurement is problematic. however, once you get great results with something across multiple strains... me... i wouldnt change a single thing. people spend more $ every month at starbux or with netflix or whatever. long as you keep the strains dan gave you alive & pass them around or whatever your plans might be, i dont think you need to grow like anybody else. long as you get bomb results, do your thing your way... its not an iota disrespectful to dan's legacy. loosing those his cuts though. ouch. no bueno.

Last flower run... For me this was flower run number 3...

Last flower run... For me this was flower run number 3...

I didn't share much of that last grow here on IC... Here is what the room looked like... I'm gonna nail it down... Perfect the shit out of my current feeding line up... Base feeds from a res and spoon feed the rest of what they need when they need it.... Who knows about spoon feeding? I got that from Harley Smith... Ill explain if needed....

Beautiful grow Aspen!

If interested in trying something new maybe take a look at Botanicare nutrients.

Botanicare Pure Blend Pro
Botanicare Cal/mag

Then whatever additives you like.

I have had great success with just the pure blend pro and Cal mag.

Jacks 5-12-26 @ 880 grams/gallon
Calcium nitrate @ 580 grams/gallon

Use 10 ml each and PH to 5.8 Half that on very small clones
Use 15 ml each and add 1/4 teaspoon epson salts per gallon PHed to 5.8 for LEDs

This is for coco.

:peek: Killer setup :good:. Were you running straight perlite or was that just top layering? +Rep for Harley Smith :watchplant:, learned a ton from him over the last few years on nutrient science and plant physiology as well as slownickel and jidoka.

+Rep for Jacks as well as a simple 2 part, works great if people use it as directed 1 part 5-12-26 to .67 cal trate. Mixing stock solution is smart for maintaining consistency, it avoids discrepancies with the moisture content of the powders from opening/closing/storing the containers over time.

Here are the solution elemental (actual) ppms from jacks/caltrate at 1 to .67 ratio (no epsom salt added):

NPK about 3-1-4
Total ~845ppm

Nitrogen 150ppm (~1% or less from ammonium)
Phosphorus 52ppm
Potassium 215ppm
Calcium 116ppm
Magnesium 63ppm
Sulfur 82ppm
Iron 3ppm
Manganese 0.5ppm
Zinc 0.15ppm
Copper 0.15ppm
Boron 0.5ppm
Molybdenum 0.1ppm (from ammonium molybdate, the ammonium source)

Obviously its not perfect either, plagued by the same trend as many other premade nutrients...*cough* calcium and potassium levels *cough*. Its easy to over do it with magnesium as well (in reference to spoon feeding), im all for discussing nutrient science :friends:.

I vary from this but dont want to get to complicated. But basically I use Phosphoric acid for PH down, 1 ml drip clean and Pretek at 1 ml per gallon for both drip clean and protek. I up the calcium nitrate slightly at well to 644 grams in the stock solution. And in flower I use MKP several times after stretch.

The Jacks and Calcium nitrate cost 2 or 3 cents per gallon to mix. My whole mix cost about 9 to 10 cents per gallon. That is because the drip clean cost about a nickle itself per gallon.

But the base mix of Jacks and Calcium Nitrate is good enough by itself. I just like the drip clean because it reduces the number of days of the flush and still gives a smooth smoke. The Protek gives the stems a little stiffening and makes the plant more drought and pest tolerant. It also gives a smother burn.

I’m on the Botanicare train too. Been using PBP and Calmag for atleast a decade. It’s easy to use, super forgiving, and mostly organic. Pretty much fool proof. It’s a liquid though, so probably not gonna be quite as cheap as Jacks or Maxi. :tiphat:
