I gather that the containers that the ferts were stored in were producing toxic odors.....

off gassing..... something like the new car smell...or new carpeting smell.....

Its why you might decide to use food grade containers....or not....

Dan.... frankly you have scared the shit out of me..... I have no intention of giving up clones....

what I intend to do is go much farther to make sure they are ok before the go with my other plants...

I have a spare 600.... I intend to isolate the plants for several weeks.... treat them multiple times with different agents while they are small....

I intend to use captain jack.... forbid 4h and floramite..... Im not sure this is all....but at least 2 treatements of each.......I expect this will take at least a month or 5 weeks......

of course this is only how I treat them prior to going into my veg room.....not all clones......

it just doesn't even make sense to me that a gas could form from bad plastic in nute containers could kill a crop ...sounds pretty far fetched

Just went to my local hydro store yesterday and picked up my (4) 4x4 OD flood tables for my 6'x20' grow space. I know it's gonna be a little tight but I'm sure I can figure it out.Plus today I went into wine country of the finger lakes and scored me (2) 55 gal. food grade blue plastic barrels. I'm starting to reorganize my room a bit too with stuff I learned from you guys here. This next Monday a freight shipment should be delivered so I can really get my package set up to be automated. And when I can afford to I wanna get a good digital camera and not break the bank so I can show you guys what I'm up to. Here' to lookin up my old address.

The toxic chemicals are taken up by the leaves like co2... Co2 drives every single chemical reaction in the plants.... No chemical reactions and the plant dies.... Basicly the pores that uptake co2 get damaged..... Then the end is close at hand.... That's the simple version star.... :tiphat:

i got lazy with preventive maintenance is all ..... if i had quarenteened everything & sprayed them instead of trusting they were fine , this may have never happened . still don't know where the russets would have come from though ....... thats got me baffled !

Well I guess thats better than if you said you were totally vigilant and you still got bugs....

Its a lesson to be learned by everyone.....:tiphat:

Doesn't it scare you guys to use all these poisions on a plant that you intend to consume? I know bugs are a challenge but it's your health that matters most.i have thrown a few pounds of some pretty bomb bud in the trash because I didn't feel it was safe to use this stuff. I have customers who have serious health conditions, I would rather lose a crop than hurt someone who put their trust in me. Not trying to be judgemental, just putting it out their. This is medicine.

I shut down and moved to a new place, started everything new from seed to ensure that it was no longer a problem.

this is veg only Packer ! none of this shit goes anywhere near flower ! organics only if you need to kill them in flower ! i have greencleener for that ! & if budset has begun .... i might just use water to knock them down untill they're harvested & then disinfect the room with ISO .
the longest any of these chems last in a plants life cycle is 45 days .... & thats the most harsh ones like Avid .

Oberon 2 SC is formulated as a liquid suspension with 23.1% spiromesifen. The label
recommends use on field corn, cotton, strawberry, cucurbit, fruiting, leafy, brassica, tuber, and
corm vegetables. It can be applied by air, ground equipment or through chemigation. Thorough
coverage of all plant parts is required and timing must be based on careful scouting and local
thresholds. The label recommends application of 5.7 to 8.5 fluid ounces per acre on field corn
with a preharvest interval (PHI) of 5 days. The rate of application on vegetable crops (cucurbit,
fruiting, leafy, and brassica) is 7.0 to 8.5 fluid ounces per acre with a PHI of 7 days. Oberon 2
SC use on cotton is recommended at 6.0 fluid ounces per acre for early season applications.
Mid-late season application is recommended at 8.0 to 16.0 fluid ounces per acre. The PHI for
cotton is 30 days. The recommended rate of application on strawberry is 12.0 to 16.0 fluid
ounces per acre with a three day PHI.

This is the active ingredient in forbid 4f....notice the last statement....

FLORAMITE®
240 SC
MAPP 13686
Contains 240 g/L (22.65 % w/w) bifenazate
Floramite is a suspension concentrate for use as a selective acaricide on
protected strawberries for control of the two-spotted spider mites
(Tetranychus urticae and T. cinnabarinus).

Susceptibility of Western flower thrips to insecticide on strawberries

Western flower thrips, Frankliniella occidentalis, are important insect pests of strawberries in California. They use their mouthparts to pierce plant cells and suck out their contents, resulting in decreased yield and quality. Control of this pest has been heavily dependent upon chemical insecticides. Spinosad has been the most effective insecticide class in management of the thrips on strawberries.

The 3 agents I plan to use are all approved for use on strawberries.....

As dans points out....their use during veg seems reasonable....

as far as avid goes....I consider that solution only under a nuclear threat like dan has.....

One other good thing they are all relatively harmless to plants.....

Mites are part of some states programs for controlling noxious weeds. Trinity county in California uses it against star thistle.

went out for a spin on the bike this afternoon - wonderful late summer day
hit the interstate for a couple exits , and dumped the throttle, look down im at 90 in 4th going into a gentle right , dump 5th and hit 100something for a couple seconds of wind in the snout
not bad for a vt750 cruiser.
