I could tell you stories about other places that would make you decide to stay put for at least another 5 years.
Long story short, has one of your neighbors come over with a gun recently and stood on your property, with massively dilated pupils, and try to pick a fight with another neighbor, who is the brother of the late previous owner ?
OK that's just one feud I watch. Maybe I should create a web page and advertise tours ? I could explain the feuds and everything.
That feud is like War and Peace 2.
If your current place is safe and you are managing to save/ invest some $$ every month ... why move ?
I have been wondering about how to turn this epic feud into a video game. I have some decent 3D skills and have taken Flash and Advanced Flash/Actionscript classes.
So what I was going to say is ... if you live in a place where your neighbors are primarily concerned about ==>
a/ Getting Laid
b/ Making Money at something that doesn't involve predatory activities
c/ actually working on their Mental "A" Game
d/ finding some good weed, or smoking the killer weed they just harvested
you live in a good place.
I believe the SF Bay Area generally falls into this category of place.
As far as health care, I do not have access to minimal health care, because I fired the last 2 doctors because they each tried to extort $3000 or more from me for expensive diagnostic procedures, etc.
Last time I needed minimal health care, I drove to another country. This involved more than one tank of gas.
It is a very fascinating subject, the devolution of health care in America.
Also, you can drive 4 hours, 3 the way some folks drive, and be amidst fantastic skiing. That has got to count for something.
I have been trying to figure out how to get there from Humboldt, where I am actually planning to move to.
As one person in Crescent City put it, you can't go anywhere without driving 2 hours on windy roads ... a description of Norcal coastal.
But I like Humboldt anyway.
Anyway, yes, getting back to that thing about the Bay Area.
The combination of lifestyle, smart interesting neighborhoods, & Cannabis freedom I think is possibly matched in the San Diego area.
The neighbors are usually much more conformist & less questioning of authority in San Diego.
Typical comment overheard at North County Coastal gym, "I'm working to diversify my cardio routine." I thought it was funny, heard some guy say it to a woman, I think it was basically a line.
But anyway, the fact that you can Go to the Beach most days of the year, that is a health related thing that I think makes quality of life in San Diego comparable & possibly better than the SF Bay area.
