I suspect you do not understand what a GMO plant is? When you say "made by nature since the dawn of time?" I am sure you do not. A more specifically defined type of GMO is a "transgenic organism." This is an organism whose genetic makeup has been altered by the addition of genetic material from an unrelated organism. When people say GMO this is what they are referring to. This does not happen in nature except viruses can add genes to an organism. But that is not what GMO's are, they are very different in most cases. Genetic modification of crops using classical breeding is not GMO, I think that is what you have confused, classical breeding does modify the genes through selection, not by inserting genes from other species. GMO does add new genes mostly from other species.
