Not much new to report - I opted to use 'Beasty Bloomz' and just passed right on by the 'ChaChing'. There was probably a valid reason in my head for this at the time, but in retrospect...have you seen how big Godzilla's pepper is on the label? That guy is packing one hell of a piece of produce - I'm going to have to trust the angry lizard on this one.

At that, I'm going at about half strength of what their suggestion for supplementation is - I may investigate plant gluttony in the upcoming weeks, but it'll have to be another gradual creep things up until the haze says "Bad Touch, I need an adult" type of regimens.

Just passing the 5th week of 12/12, so this grow has been drug kicking and screaming past the likely halfway point.

There hasn't been much to report - I've got to assume this is a good thing. The hazes are still stretching - they've grown not only up to the 600 in the middle, but....over it. Another top is brushing a ceiling vent, but still getting decent side light. It's possible she didn't take kindly to my pep talks - either that, or I just need higher ceilings - but the buds are progressing as expected. Lots of little cotton balls that take until week 7 to even start filling in.

The haze leaves (upper left) up above the bulb are getting the piss knocked out of them by the fan, but there's really not anywhere else to put them. Wherever else I could possible wedge a branch, there's already haze - they're getting decent side light from the 400s there, let's see what happens.

Bucket 7, AK - I have named this bud Lumpy. Poor little bugger is confused as hell which direction the light is coming from, so half is growing like normal, the other half growing in perpendicular. Other than looking like half a retard, its got potential - so far, it's the chunkiest bud in the clusterfuck. Kinda unexpected as prior runs (and the bucket right next to it with the exact same cut) showed lots of little buds, but nothing of any size. Maybe this is what the plant needs for large buds - absolute confusion.

the other AK bucket w/ the same cut for comparisons sake. The reflector blocked half the flash, so this shot has the advantage of looking both artsy and fartsy.

all i can say at this point is what the plan is - reality may disagree with me, and force new plans at a later date - but from here on, the intention is to let this res ride until the flush, and just do addbacks.

I've had a 300gph or so pump in the res for recirculating the nute-juice about, and somehow it got pointed such that it was spraying up towards the lid - over night and unnoticed. End result: trickle of drips from the around the lid led to 3/4ths of the res dumped out on the floor.

I'm not sure that counts as a res swap by the strictest definition, but whatever you'd call it, they got mostly new nutes, and my RO filter got a workout. They look to have weathered this torture fairly well, however - they had at least a couple of hours of being SWC plants in a DWC setup, and lived to tell the tale at least.

Oh yah, and the floor drain by the res works too. I'd meant to test that, apparently I just did.

oh yah, things for the upcoming weeks

1) i have 1 res, 8 plants
a) 6 are 9 week strains, 2 are 10 week strains
b) i want 2 weeks flush on everybody

this means snatching the haze girls up out of their buckets, putting straight-thru connectors on the drain lines in place of those buckets, and replacing them with standalone buckets that aren't plumbed into the res at all.

this is a long rambling way of going about saying 'Holy balls christmas, the next incarnation of this idiocy will involve some freaking valves'.

this weekend, i'm also planning on changing one of the 400w hps for a 400w MH.

why? because.

i think i'm just tossing everything i haven't tried yet into one grow and seeing if it melts or works, so there is that curiosity, but....there's also the 'why the hell not' factor.

as far as personal gardening ethos go, it's worked so far.

The leaves are definitely sativa-ish, but the bud structure looks much tighter on that than any sativa-dominant pheno ive grown, and ive grown a few (and they usually sucked: light, airy buds that took forever to finish and the high was nothing special).

sounds like a perfect enough description of the other seeds from the same pack this plant came from. I ran one to 22 weeks, yielded about half an ounce, tasted like smoking lawn clippings - the buzz it had was almost all psychedelic tho, but not very strong in that direction. it reminded me of that 30 minutes after dosing feeling - not at all tripping, but on the cusp of it. it never accumulated more of a buzz than that, tho - that was the ceiling whether you took a few puffs or sucked down consecutive joints.

I can't really say how much of a freak the plant I'm still running is within the range of Ohaze, as all I can definitely say is 'she's 1 in 10' - I ran 10 seeds, and found this one oddity. Compared to what I've seen of other people's experiences w/ the line, I do kinda feel like I've won the seed lottery with her, tho.

probably better to leave off to the end of this clusterfuck before any 'conclusions', but I can tell you a couple of things I wouldn't do again, tho

the high volume cfm air movement thru the center pointed at the vert bulb has been a life saver - it's kept the area around the bulb from getting too hot, and it has in a fashion kept plants from growing into that area.

The thing is, I'd had that fan sitting on the largest carbon filter I had in the room. It took me weeks to notice just how stupid I was in doing so - carbon scrubbing air just to pump it past 8 plants of stinkiness. Not exactly my finest moment in the 'It made sense at the time' realm.

Also, while the bowl of buds thing has been entertaining, the marionette-fu approach at keeping plants where I want them is a colossal pain in the ass. A screen/trellis or some kind of series of sturdy posts to use as a framework would have made things a lot easier.

alrighty, on to recent doings (AKA "As The Clusterfuck Rolls")

This weekend, everything was drained and the number 5 and 6 buckets were detached from the plumbing. Doing so involved pulling the haze lids up and plunking them in different buckets - this sounds simple enough, but basically the house of cards that was holding up all those haze spears fell apart when I did it. Being in standalone buckets, it allowed me to pull them back a bit from the 600 and open up the tops that are pulling in lumens from the 400 above it - and most importantly, it allows me to keep feeding them for another week. Everything else started the flush on day 49 of 12/12, day 34 of clusterfuckulation.

While pissing about and tearing christ off the cross in there, the fan/filter arrangement was changed around a bit - seems to have cut down on the nasal funk dramatically.

You can see a lot more plant matter is depending on the ceiling to stay upright, as well the hazey corner of things spread out a lot more.

I think I've scratched the 400w MH idea for now. I don't have a conversion bulb, it would entail swapping out ballast/reflector and all...and just looking at what would be involved (like dancing around the 15 strings between where the reflector would connect and the ceiling) it just seems like less and less of a good idea every time I think about doing it.
