Whazzup, please excuse my lazy ass question a few posts above. Did my reading and got my answer. Just got a lil shell shocked at the first few pages where you got into a discussion about mass calculations of photons and such with spurr. This thread is very informative. Thx.

Height/umol

Height/umol

Hi Whazzup,
Read through the whole thread, and have a couple of questions if you please.
1. Let's consider a 10m sq room with an 8.5m sq canopy centered with in. There are 4x0.75m halls within the canopy. Walls painted white. Enough Gavita 1000de's to give 1000umol at 3' above canopy. Now because I keep reading about overlap being the "best" light, I assume taking my lights higher would give me better light. Heck, it might sound stupid, but why not hang the lamps over the halls so that the canopies are all under overlap light. Now since there is no loss of ppf or ppfd, why not take them 6' above the canopy? I may have missed it, but is there a calc that takes into account how far away the lamp is from the canopy? My gut feeling is I would need more lamps if I took them higher to achieve the same umol. Your answer would help determine how many lamps I would need to have better overlap.

Damn, stepped away for a sec :joint: and forgot my other question.
Oh well, next time. Hope your having great holidays!

Hey Whazzup, I have my own build I can finally ask questions about! I am looking into purchasing a couple Gavita-Pro 1000w (US). But I have no idea how many I was originally think 4 per room but figured it would be best to ask you before purchasing. And how would I go about requesting something light placement plans of each light?

The Room:
L11' 6.5" x W13' 5" x H8' 4.5"

Grow Area:
L3.5179m x W2.7432m x H2.5527m

Also, I am planning on running 4 12 bucket systems in the grow area if this has any bearing.

Is there a way to get a 1000W Gavita in a TENT?
Cant really find any higher that 200cm.
Considering the 35cm hight of the light fixture ja 90cm recommended distance to the plants you're left with 75cm grow space. Going hydro you need lets say 30cm hight for REZ, 15cm for rootspace(rDWC) and your left with 30cm for the plant it self. That doesn't sound like a lot, does it?

Don't wanna go the "600W mag's in cooltubes"-way

I think as far as tents go the Gorilla would be tall enough. But yeah a 200cm tent wouldn't be good for 1000de

Can you get it in EU?

I don't know. I am in Canada.
My local shop had one set up.

They are 6'11" (211cm) high, and come with an extension kit to make it 7'11" (241cm). You can purchase a second extension kit to make it 8'11" (272cm). I imagine it would cost quite a bit to have one shipped overseas.

I will have to get back on the btu,but we use the pro 1000 here with co2 and an opticlimate in a closed room, in a 5 lamp setup without any problems. The link to the topic on wietforum was posted already somewhere in this topic I think

@whazzup

Hi mate, I've been looking at these opticlimate units for a while and reading a couple of older threads on weitforum where users have ran them successfully.

Opticlimate have updated their models since most of the threads where posted (on weitforum) that I read anyway... Do you have any idea how the newer units perform? Do you have any links to threads where they've been used?

Cheers

Hi guys. I have been extremely busy last few months and still am, but I will try to be here a bit more often. If you need support from Gavita, please visit the support system on the website.

About the lamp: Philips still makes them but as from March 2014 they are no lonmger sold in the Hydroponics market, just in the professional greenhouse market. Philips has distanced itself from the cannabis market for legal reasons.

So, indeed the DE lamp from Philips is no longer available on this market (other than old stock). Fortunately we are a Philips business partner and have seen this coming for a long while. Gavita introduced their Gavita Pro 1000W 400V DE lamp already more than a year ago and recently (just a month before the Philips ban) the Gavita Pro Plus 1000W 400V DE lamp. This lamp has the same output as the Philips lamp (2100 umol s-1) and no, it is not a philips OEM lamp ;), and it is uniquely built for Gavita in Europe.

I am not sure what the other suppliers are going to do, but I know there is an Ushio 1950 umol lamp, there are various Chinese 1850 umol lamps (highly NOT recommended), Osram and GE probably will follow the same policy as Philips does (the GE lamp isn't that good anyway).

What's the ave time that your replacing your bulbs? I bought spare bulbs for both the Gavita/E-P lights. 1 is the Philips Master Green Power Plus. The other is the Ushio pro plus. Both new bulbs where bought awhile ago.
Here are the specs for the Ushio Pro Plus. I think I have the 2100?. Is Gavita contracting to have the bulbs made through Philips or GE?. If you go to Monster gardens bulbs you have to click on GE Philips to get to the Gavita bulb. This makes it very confusion who makes the bulbs.

S5002442 - AHS-DE1000W/Pro-Plus = 2100 micromol/s Product Features:

• Made in Germany and engineered in a ISO9001 certified facility
• High red and blue spectral ratios for good photosynthesis efficiency
• Great lumen output for high PAR values (1950 and 2100 micromol/s)
• Robust plants through high blue light output
• High red light ratio for healthy plant growth
• Economic (long average life, high lumen output, low energy consumption)
• Tubular low profile design for compact fixtures

If I follow this chart after 13.5 Months the bulb would be at about 92% efficiency. I wish the chart went passed 10,000 hr's

I've been a lurker here for a while and decided to buy Gavita after seeing this thread. Unfortunately the shop was sold out of 600's so I grabbed a 1000w, which is more than a challenge in a 2m tall by 1.2m tent but i'll be building a new groom soon so thorough I'd try it out anyway.

I pulled 1057 grams with 4 plant grown in an amazon system and i vegged for just over 3 weeks (plus 5 days in the aero prop after showing roots).. heres some pictures and sorry if its in the wrong place.

Must have had a pretty good flow of air using a 1000w in a 1.2m2 tent. Excellent pull chap :)

I think he used a 1k SE Gavita, OR 1k DE set on 600 or he was running sog/scrog with very short plants. I have to keep mine at least 20" from the canopy in a 12 x 10 room.

20" is close for gavitas!I had to keep 36-42'' in an 8' tall room with the 1ks.Soon i will try one of the e-series 750's but to be honest if you dont have 10' or higher ceilings the 600's are the way to go,Ive seen 2 p's per 600 in a couple rooms and read reports of peeps switching standard 1k's for 600's in vert rooms and seeing no loss of yield.
