Hello all,

I am a new member and first let me say what an inspiration these forums have been to me for the past couple of years. Although I wasn't a member at the time have gained so much knowledge from reading others forums such as the Tom Hill, Butte and many other great farmers amongst us. So thanks all for the inspiration.

This will be my second outdoor season as a greenhorn gardener followed by last season's disastrous 1st attempt to grow my own medicine. (10/45 gal smartpots and clones put out late june, overwatered, and infested with the F'ing terminater of mites aka hemp russet mite. Well for a noob to growing this beautiful flower I must say. I was hooked. And still came out with enough smoke to last me the year to share with friends and family. Bought a couple of T5,s and a magnum XXL from my uncle. Bought some beans from online. Made a bunch of Bho. Did one indoor run that came out Ok. Made more bho. I got a lot to learn folks. Bought vac chamber from ebay. Vac from harbor freight. Made better bho. Shoot im still running material from last outdoor. So here we are now I got my beans sowed and ready for another interesting season. Strains are as follows:

Sour Diesel (Got some seeds from clone grown last season "OUTDOOR")
Jack Herer ( same as above except initial plant was from seed. Vision Seeds)
Plum "Crazy" Purps ( same as above got some seeds from clones.
Pyramid Seeds Tutankhamon (Feminized)
Pyramid Seeds Shark (Fem)
Delicious Seeds Critical sense star (Fem)
Dr. Underground Melon Gum.
Durban Poison? ( From friend)
And a bunch up unknown gifted seeds with from friends and family. Her is how they are lookin these days. Hope you all enjoy and happy gardening.

Man these were a pain in the ass. Well. Luckily my buddy who has been growing for the past ten years know something was up. He cant smoke anymore but still grows the crap to flame. I mistaken them to be deficiencies of some sort but he told me to get a scope in which I did. We used all kinds of organic sprays, need oil, mix of alcohol and soap but were really only able to hold them at bay. That is why I'm strictly doing seeds now. I moved to a new place and anything related to last year's outdoor was left behind or tossed. Minus seeds that I got which i sterilized in 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water. No sigh I of them yet. My question is do you think those mites hang around all winter on my plot. Would suck to plug these early June to get these little buggers again. Another question is because these are all seeds I heard I can go out a bit earlier but my friend disagrees. Saying they will start flowering if put out too early. I'm thinking june 1st. If I do run into these mites I can't just throw everything away as these beans are all I got. It will be an all out war. Do those predatory mites do any damage?

Shoot the only thing I had issues with so far was my damn cat. He tore 10 of my seedlings outta their pots and was chewing leaves and crapping in their place lol little prick. So I had to sprout some more beans. blocked him off and cleaned his litter box daily he is a good boy now.

Sac here again, here are a few shots from last years grow. I pretty much relied on a friend for his clones. Split everything 50/50 even though my partner had a newborn and wasn't able to help out much come watering and feeding. Planted in kelloggs patio plus on June 21.

Noomin Norcal, Yeah they were topped early on by my buddy and topped again throughout the season by my partner. I didn't even know what the hell he was talking about at the time lol but as the season progressed I saw first hand what a good topping could do to the canopy. Its funny, my father in law love him to death but has been growing for quite some time didn't even know how to top his plants until my buddy shows up and asked him why he doesn't. Cause he was old school guess but this year he finally did and probably doubled his yield. Some shots of his garden 2012. More traditional christmas tree shape.

Its funny you mentioned fences. A couple years back my father in law ran into a few problems building a fence across the backside of his property. First building the fence right along his property that happens to butt up right against one of those f'in golf course private communities. The community complained that his fence blocked their view to his beautiful piece of property and made him tear it down. Not one to give up that easy he learned that if you build a fence so many feet away from your property that you can build it as tall as you wish. as long as the fence was made up of organic, non man-made material. a few weeks later and thousands of palm fronds, some chicken wire and there ya go. Not sure how tall it is. I'd guess 15'-20'ft. HAHA F you Nosy Neighbors.

Happy 4/20 everyone. Got a quick question on some of my girls as to what could be going on. I live in a small two story and have one veg area underneath my stairway and the other in my bedroom closet upstairs. The downstairs area stays around 75 degrees and 40/50% humidity. Upstairs has been warming up a bit and just last night reached 91 degrees and stays around 50% humidity.

First pic is downstairs. I'm getting downward curl on leaf edges. Looks almost like overwatering?
Second pic is upstairs. I'm getting upward leaf curl on edges. Complete opposite lol. Any advice is much appreciated.

Forgot to mention that seeds were started in FF Light Warrior then transplanted into FF Bushdoctor Coco Loco.

Thanks

Nice thread so far, sacramental. How high above the plants are your lights? If they're fairly close, you might try moving them a little higher and see how the plants respond.

Thanks hemphrey.

I try to keep the light upstairs fairly high. 1 or 2 ft maybe cause of the heat in the room. But downstairs the light is much closer. I might be topping a couple of these cause they seem to be stretching more than anything else I have goin. Sour d's and one of my tuts. I also have a recessed light in my closet that I was thinking of putting a little booster fan to exhaust some of the heat. Would this cool the room much?

Thanks

Best bet is to assume the mites are around and treat preventively with the organic stuff you used to keep last year's infestation at bay.

Heya Sac!

The plants don't look bad to me really...humidity might be a bit low, but as long as you got good airflow, you should be fine before you put them outside. I like to keep the humidity up a bit higher than 50% during veg myself, but if it falls to 50%, I'm not going to start worrying too much. Are you giving them regular foliars or no?

Putting an intake is a good idea...of course, it all depends on the room and the condition of the air you're pulling in from outside. One thing to remember is some rooms tend to go up in humidity during lights off...especially in the days after you water. That said, I'd rather have good airflow during lights off than worry about temps going down a little bit.

Wanna check for over watering? Lift up the pots and see how heavy they feel compared to when they're dry.

Oh, and assuming those all got started at the same time, chances are good that big one in the back might be a male. I could be wrong, but the tall ones from regular seed are usually males, strain dependent.

I like that fence your father inlaw put up! Looks kinda cool, actually.

HB.

Mapinguari, yeah my worst nitemare lol I've been checking the plants with scope and no signs yet but any little thing I see I automatically think get the scope out.

Hempfrey, you are right. I shouldn't worry too much like you said I guess they look ok. Pots feel like they still have some weight to them. The tall one is spittin white hairs though. Just a stretchy gal I guess.
