Yes following 101 Dalmatians....The other thing is predominantly white dog have a high percentage of blindness and deafness.

Supposedly happens with cats as well. I have a white cat that went blind around 4-5 years old. She's 12 now and gets along just fine.

the lip on the stairs suggests down, but the flat appearing area at the top of the photo looks like a solid floor, suggesting up.
