My original question is still un answered.
Where the hell did they come from. do they hibernate. could they be living in my bag of soil?
My whole grow is in the garage it's below Freezing.
I'm starting to think maybe I didn't completely get rid of them last time

Man they come out of nowhere. I have a sealed room that I bleached down, then got some clones and hosed them down and a month later I had mites. They prolly came off your clothes.

BTW...I use No Pest Strips and I never ever see them fuggers any more.

Shaggy,

Female mites can hibernate through the winter, they can hibernate if there is nothing to eat and/ or just because they feel like it. They dig in and are very hard to kill until they come out of hibernation.

Eggs last about six weeks before dying of old age. Eggs are impervious to poisons until they hatch. You need to repeatedly treat your grow during this period or new eggs hatch and it starts all over again.

Sprays, plain water or otherwise, can work with veging plants. Sprays can also cause mold when sprayed on developing buds.

Using two or more different toxins at the same time is best. That way if one doesn't work, the other one will. It stops the little monsters from developing immunity.

No pest strips are OKed by the FDA for use in milking barns, around nursing pigs, and grain storage. They will kill mites unless they are already immune. Double the amount of strips recommended for any given space. A couple of decades ago, one strip in a windy garage would kill everything in fifteen minutes. Try that with a modern strip. . . Change them every month.

Combine strips with flea and tick bombs. The bombs use synthetic Pyrethrums. This works differently to kill mites than no pest strips. It is considered safe to use pyrethrums to spray on vegetables a few days before harvest. It is considered safe for you and your pets to bomb your house as long as you aren’t there when the bomb goes off.

A one two punch works best. Pyrethrums are known for the ability to flush out hibernating females where they can be killed by the no pest strips and/or pyrethrum exposure. Pyrethrums do the same with spiders and silver fish.

Flea and tick bombs have the advantage of not getting buds wet as sprays would do. Do a bomb in your grow every two weeks while treating. Turn off lights and let the hot stuff cool before setting off the bomb.

To avoid future infestations. Put all new plants in quarantine. Change clothes and shoes if you have been cutting your yard, gardening or camping.

Good luck.

'They' say humans are one of the biggest vectors of bugs into the grow room.

I read about a guy in the mushroom business that had an entrance mat to his grow room soaked in bleach to kill whatever was on his shoes as he entered.

As long as the in and outs are hepa'ed that's stopping 99.9 % of the stuff there.

Dipping your scissors in boiling water helps on not transfering internal disease as well.

I second the strips only if you are in a serious battle with the mites. They were my last resort, but have worked far better than anything else. 10000 ppm of co2 didnt work for me, predators didnt, didnt try destroyers, neem is good but didnt do the job for me. anyhow, just seconding the strips.

Neem Oil is safe and effective BUT you need to be religious and apply at least every two weeks as a soil drench and light foliar spray and nothing will fuck with your plants. Neem oil busts up the reproductive cycle and is not a knock your ass down right now treatment and is cumulative but is the shit.

I triple up my No Pest Strips and replace every 60 days if not sooner.

Pyrethrum bombs will wipe out everything and are safe as a last resort.

Gnatrol saved my ass when I got lazy on a neem soil drench for a month or so and I got fucked by fungus gnats but the Gnatrol works withing 24 hours .... all dead.

Predatory nematods take a while to develop if you are infested and are best started early in the soil ... same with predatory insects .. they take time and your plants are getting raped and violated in the meantime ....

Here is another way to kill the bugs................Borg even. :bat: Even in heavy flower with no harm. You have to make sure the room is completley sealed. Get you a tank of CO2 and flood the room for at least 6 - 8 hours. Kills bugs dead, little to no oxygen. :woohoo:

I agree with Indica Jones. Avid is the only thing that completely wiped out the damn mites. I have tried everything from predatory insects to neem oil and they always came back. If you check ebay there was a guy selling smaller bottles of avid for $89. If anyone needs a little bit of avid, pm me I can send some out. You only need a couple tablespoons a gallon.

Thunderbolts is right, I mix neem oil in my waterings every few weeks or so, in 1 gallon of water mix 8 drops of neem oil, and a few drops of dishsoap, and some no pest strips and your good, just cant stop using the neem, or they'll be back
