does it help to throw a node or so into the root area or just stay between the nodes when peeling the green layer. I see you are leaving some ruffage on the top cut which seems to help throw roots .

Mr crane..... You have inspired another experiment.....
It will be clonex vs dip n' grow.....
My feeling my friend....is that dip n' grow is the deal for this purpose......
One way to find out....
great thread ich, i love all the explanations, not only your propagation technique but even how to use icmag instructions...
great job, i'll be watching along.
As many have al ready written... Nice thread Ichabod!
Very informative, I will soon try this propagation technique at home. You should post a little more often though, 3 times per day with pictures might not be enough for all.
"no nuclear power plant near by." Good for you but never far enough.
I am not sure it is needed. I have not done any testing on that yet so just a belief.
The way I strip the outer layer is with my thumb nail. It tends to split and fray when I do this. I just make sure that all the splits and frays are covered with Dip n Gro.
Ok thank's , how tight you pack the coco around the stem? My first failed I believe because it was too far along in flower. I will go back and reread how you do it also. I was speed reading through the first time LOL.
The bottles make it so much easier , without them I wouldnt do or even do another. I got my Plant count up so Im good , am basically just messing a round.
Yuppers this is the good stuff.
How fat is that stem?
Cmon Ich.... its been almost 36 hours!! Where's the updates dude???
Alright.... I'm still not getting the fast and furious results you are Ich, but I've had another successful air layer. It was a Fire Cookie from seed. This one took almost 3 weeks tho. But slow is better than never right? I noticed the roots were very well developed, but they were only on the back side of the bottle. No roots grew towards the HPS. Also, the plant was in flower for the last 6 days.
The branches I've been air layering are considerably smaller than that big ass branch you posted. My branches are nowhere near the thickness of a sharpie. Usually just a 6-8inch clone... This must have something to do with how fast yours are rooting.
But... the last 3 air layers I've set have taken, so thats a plus. I like this method alot and will continue to use it. Just have to plan a few weeks earlier.
This thread is turning into a classic, Ichabod.
I'm interested in how you prepare and keep mother plants. My moms can give fresh cuts every two weeks but I'm only taking titchy ones.
