Frisian Dew in the Big Greenhouse

B

Nice grow, chakra you certainly know what your doing, plants look healthy and set up to give a solid yeaild, but I have one question.

Why would you flower the cuts first for next years crop? I assume it is to get some seriour branching going on from early, am I correct?

now that is one hell of a number to make your selection from. thats gonna be one valuable clone when you find the best of the batch with the FD resilience and speed.

@ Gaius:

It isn't a large number , but we do put them to the test. And there are a lot of phenotypes to be found in the Frisian Dew. But it helps a lot when you already know what you are lookin' for. And that is very specific. We'll just have to wait and see. I guess we'll know after 4-6 weeks. Would also be a great UK-outdoor strain, no?

@ THC: kinda reminds me of someone... lol

@ BJgreen: Exactly true. When the plants go through the revegging phase, they will sprout new branches a lot more. They will shoot out everywhere. This proces takes time (and costs), but will increase biomass of the plant, allowing for better and more extensive scrog/LST.

yeah i'm thinking it will be a great outdoor strain for central europe.

so how many seedlings do you have in there to choose from? you say it's not a lot? seems like a lot of phenos to choose from from where i'm sitting :)

Well, we are seeing round 6-7 different pheno's already. We know there are about 10 to 12 to be found Henk told us.
I hope there will be some more distinct expressions.
I have one personal favorite plant. I'll make some pics of the leafs and buds tomorrow, so you guys can see. That reminds me! Time to take a nice fanleaf of every plant, dry them and mark the differences and finally frame them in. Good for the grand kids' stories later on in life.

For me, the more distinct pheno's the better. I've heared there would be one pheno that is high in CBD but is rarely found. We found it in Belgium once. The guys didn't like it because it didn't got you high.. So there'll always be a good pheno in this batch, I have no doubt. Very curious, but no doubt ;)

We'll have every distinct phenotype tested for potency and CBD/CBC/CBG-content, after harvest.

If you want, you can always drop on by and test the harvest for yaself Gaius? If we get that far that is.

ahh now i get you, lets hope you find the one you are looking for. makes it easier to know what phenos you can expect and which one you are looking for in particular.

as for testing.......maybe you can bring some to the ic 420 cup? should be perfectly cured by then, as long as you didnt smoke it all by that time, hehe....lol.

@ SirSkunk: thanks sir!

@ V n O: feathers? never heard of that I must say. Just bird feathers?

@ Gaius: was planning to do that already. We'll see how it gets. If we can get close to THC123's quality, it will be fine ;)

With control over the plants environment like this, it should produce some good improvements on yield with out getting to dense and causing problems with mold, but you have it pretty much dialed in i don't think you can improve much more than this veg stage!

Thx for the nice comments guys! Motivative words like that keep us pushin' on!
We'll see in a couple of weeks if the sweet purple pheno is in there. But we have good hopes!

Here a small update about the Frisians.

The biggest ones are now close to 3m in height. Next week we'll place a 3m high half-pipe scrog for the first 2 Frisians.
The rest of them are between 2m and 2,5m in height already.

Only 2 weeks left before they start flowering and make the strech. We must be ready!

Still nice and green plants, and still they get only water.
We treated them for spidermites yesterday with a very strong garlic-pepper spray. Let's chase those f%^*ers away from our plants!

You might notice we hung some green scrog nets in between several plants, and to the poles of the greenhouse. This way we join the plants (and their cages) together. Thatway when one should fall over due to its weigth and pulls the cage out, the others will prevent that. Also, this way we can increase our area that has buds.
We are trying different sorts of scrog at the same time, so expect an update next week concerning this.
We do not attach the plant to the net, we simply bend and train the plant through. Also the net is pretty heavy (thick iron garden fence - not a sloppy wire-like net) , so the weight keeps the plants in check.

picture time!

Hi VnO! Thanks mate! Gotta look in to it that feather meal. I knew 'bout blood and bone meal, not feather meal.

Tomorrow and Friday are going to be the hottest days of the year it would seem. Outside temperatures over 35 degrees Celcius. That means we'll be able to do a few experiments.

Tomorrow we'll note the following:

Morning temp with and without air circulation/ roof open or closed.

Maximum temperature inside the greenhouse (fully closed, fans off)

Speed of rise in air temp. (for example 20 degrees difference in 5 minutes)

Speed of drop in air temp.

All this will allow us to put together a good heating/cooling system for next year. We've already measured up to 60 degrees in the greenhouse.
From where we stand, with minimal or no air circulation, the plants will be able to grow in temperatures not exceeding 50 degrees. Above that, they'll suffer from heat damage. To kill a 4-5 ft plant, you'll need at least 6 days of a temp above 50 degrees and they should receive no watering.
We've even come across a few strains that could take 50+ degrees for 14 days without watering in a small pot of 0,2l. They were barely alive, but recovered just fine and are now strong and healthy plants.

How wonderfull and strong Cannabis is! Best plant on the planet iyam.

Cheers

Thanks for sharing!
