nameless and ~sprout, maybe y'all can help me out here.. I've been thinking about getting a modestly-equippable camera, but I'm like a deer in the headlights - no idea where to start. (The other fear is that I'll go all-in, be into it for a short time, and then just walk away and go "meh." .. As has been the case with my fantasy football crap.)..
Any suggestions for good books/places to start?

ok i dont play fantasy football but i cant see how there could be any comparison really. photography is magical. im not gonna lie i have had my highs and lows with it, but it really is incredible if you ask me. you know what they say about pictures and all...
anyway, there are plenty of better people to ask about entry level cameras im not a tech guru by any means, but i might could help...
you can get a decent digital point and shoot camera for cheap cheap cheap now. but for a decent one its 100$, and you can get a used dslr for about 300$... mine is a canon 350D or a RebelXT. its only 8mp but works fine for me.. you can pick one up with a short lens for about 300$...as far as books go, i dont know ive read a few, digital photography magazine is great if you can afford it. i taught myself alot back in the day at deviantArt. lots of good free info on the internet. i had more typed out but deleted it cause it was off point.

Meh - the fantasy football thing was more a rib on myself, .. But I do have this tendency to pick up a hobby, stick with it, aaaaaannnndddd... "Damn, where's that camera? It's been like a month since I used it.."
I think what's intimidating is the price of admission. That is, it's a little daunting to shell out hundreds of dollars if I'm doubting my level of adhesion to the hobby.. 
Also not helping things is the fact that I've got NO idea where to start. Maybe I'll start looking around at your camera/comparable ones, .. And go from there.

What's the deal with the cardboard box after the scrubber in the exhaust? Muffler gimmick?
Edit: Is the 600 W tent the all-Cheese tent? I love all-team-Cheese.
Can you elaborate a bit on your circulation in those tents? I could've sworn my PM issue was in part due to overcrowding on this last run (and subsequent poor airflow/circulation), but you've got those bimbos packed in there pretty tight.
