Before some days I had "Eisbein" it´s a typically Bavarian meal, Very rustic and fat. Always with Sauerkraut and potatoes.
Pic one is where the "Eisbein" is coming from.
Pic two is my "Eisbein" in a mediterian style, the Sauerkraut is pureed.
Pic three is like "Eisbein" looks at usual.

Talk about cooking "outside the box"

Not a common part of the pig, used for cooking!!!.

Ribs and pulled/chopped butt or shoulder rocks my boat!

My wife and I got holidays. We had a 7 Kilometer walk around a lake this morning and at 13.15 we arrived the Burg/Castle for lunch.

Yeah, half a liter alkoholfree Weizenbier against the thirst! We were sitting outside in the garden.

My wifes 1st plate, Salad, beetroot, matie (matjes) a rollmops (rolled pickled herring), matie and rollmops are typicaly for here.

Her mainmeal Labskaus, national dish of Hamburg, looks like puke, kids often dont like it. Its potatoes mashed with corned beef and onions, up on it a funny Spiegelei (fried egg).

My meal was a Fischerfrühstück (fishermans breakfast) again.
Little bit aspargus, salad, salmon, crabs, scrambled eggs and fried potatoes with bacon.

Herman, how is the non-alcoholic Franziskaner? I am intrigued. Looks like a tasty lunch.

Looks great Herman!

I had many wonderful meals when I was in Deutchland in the mid 70s.

Wonderful tall glasses of beers like Psycorr

Glasses of fruity sweet white wine to acompany meals along the Rhine river. I was just a kid, but I was allowed to drink with meals, unlike here in the US

Hello KSP,:tiphat:
it was my first time to drink non alcohol Weizenbier and now I am coviced that it´s good! Sometimes I had tried non alcoholic beer but I don´t like it but Weizen is different. It has its own Weizentaste and that makes it different.

Hello Dr.Purpur,:tiphat:
thats a classic, drinking wonderfull german wine and have some good german food out of the river rhineregion. I was there too with my parents in the 70s. Watched a lot of castles, makin a boat trip on the rhine.
Yes thats true in wine regions kids often are allowed to drink a little bit wine. It must look barbarian to the americans . Today it´s a little bit more stringend but in the past it was ordinary to drink beer and wine if you are 16. Nothing special in Germany and Europe. It´s always funny if an european exchange student or pupil comes to the states and isn´t allowed to drink beer if the person is under 21.

Just a silly picture from yesterday night, opened the fridge (stoned/little drunk) and found this crazy Bio-Kresse (cress) in a box.

Heheh. I was on the other end of that as a 16 year old exchange student from the US to the Rhineland. :friends:

Yesterdays lunch, a nice little restaurant and cheap! Only 7,50 Euro (10 Dollar?), for a good quality. At Mc Donalds you pay more for bad Quality.
It was a 160 Gramm Cheeseburger in mediterranean style, the beef was from a near Biofarm, the cheese was fresh goatcheese.

Hello Infinitesimal, :tiphat:
god thanks our McDonalds is always full of customers and I don´t like it to wait. That´s why Im not often there, but sometimes I really need a coke, a cheeseburger and a quaterpounder. By the way the quaterpounder is called Royal TS here, TS is for tomato and salad.
