Wonderfull foodpictures as usual, I like this thread!

Yesterday we were eating out in a old small castle! My wife had birthday.

For europeans maybe nothing special, the castle. The wall around is gone today. It was builded 1100 after christ birth.

We call it "fishermans breakfast", stupidly I made the pic without the chip potatoes, it is with scrambled eggs, salad, some aspargus, salmon and crabs.

Hello Hank,:tiphat:
yes I´m sure, in original they´re called "Krabben" and came from the nearby northsea. I think shrimps are big like a little finger, the crabs/Krabben are big like a filtertip from a cigarette.

In English, we just call them "baby shrimp." It's not exactly poetic or accurate but we get by. :)

I saw a TV program called Baltic Coast and they were catching those. Boiled then iced them on the boat. Just seems like if they called them crab my ears would have pricked up.

To the crabs. For my grandparents generation here, it was a poor people food. In the past you only can buy them in "armor" and you have to wind them. Today for a higher price you can buy them winded. But absolutley crazy is, the fishermen catch them here, 30 miles away in the northsea, put them on ice, than they go to Marocco!! (north africa), by plane, cheaply winded there by kids and women, than back to germany and a day later you can buy the crabs packed in the supermarket.

It´s crazy, globalisation.
