Of course the Ass signed it, it goes into effect July 1st, so watch your ass and stay under 24 plants or do 5 years minimum mandatory, no parole, no probation, no time off for good behavior, 5 solid years

pardon me if this question has been asked before.

But my Florida folks, with such a great climate, why so many indoor grows?
You have year round growing conditions, why are their not tons of outdoor grows on this wonderfull thread?

Hi Med
Its because it is extremely hard to grow outdoors due to Helicopters, Brush Fires(love to see months and months of work go up in smoke), and Drought. It is much easier to control the environment and bugs and such indoors. There are some who grow outdoors down here but it is tough.

there are many places it can be pulled off, but security is a real big issue down here, and like stated sometimes droughts are issues or just way to much rain specially now its hurricane season who knows what can happen :joint: :joint:

Growing outdoors isn't that tough for a small grower. I have posted my outdoor pics. There really aren't many choppers looking for pot, and they have to fly fast to cover a lot of territory. They can't see anything unless it is a huge grow, like thousands of plants in one patch. At least many hundreds of plants. For example, LouGrew here in Miami grows hundreds of plants at a time in his backyard. He has been doing it for many years, even decades, and has never been caught.

As far as brush fires, that is mostly out in the Everglades and other remote areas. There have been very few homes burned in the fires here. Of course big growers use the remote areas, so they are concerned about brush fires in the spring and hurricanes in the summer.

I grow in containers rather than directly in the ground, so I haven't had too many problems with pests. LouGrew does the same.

The bigger problem is having the plants ripped off by one of the many people who would go through a persons backyard and see the grow. The lawn crew, the pool boy, the roofer, the pressure cleaner, the house painter, the linesmen from the phone or electric companies, etc. Don't forget the roofers and tree trimmers for all the neighbors can see your backyard too.

Many of the outdoor people only grow in the winter and spring because the summer is so hot that it is uncomfortable. There are pluses and minuses to outdoor growing. It is mostly a matter of preference. Some people like to work outside in the sunshine, others like air conditioning.

Hey Tropical :)
Maybe in your area homes do not burn, but in Central Florida we lost 30 or more houses last month and I cannot count the acres burned, and this was not swampland :)
I just prefer a little more control of my plants than growing outdoors :)

Blaner, I'm sorry to hear about those 30 homes burned last month. Still, there must be around half a million homes in central Florida, so the risk of loss to fire sounds reasonably small even during one of the worst droughts in decades. I don't think the brush fires hit any homes in south Florida, where there are over a million homes.

I still think the main factors in deciding to grow outdoors is whether you have a location with privacy and whether you like to work outside in the sunshine. Indoor grows usually cost more to start-up. Lights, ventilation, circulation, a/c, running the electric service and perhaps plumbing. Also, you might need to build the light proof blooming room. A guerilla grow from bag seed can be very cheap.

Did somebody say outdoors? Heres my little outdoor garden, couple of ak47, and a hazexskunk thats planted in the ground. I live in the cocoa "area" and choppers fly around this bitch all day, but unless you're growing acres of weed, you really have nothing to worry about. I'm more worried about my neighbors but i move my potted plants around my yard on the weekends (when the neighbors arent at work).
Hey asher1, whats your juice bill like? And what size ac you using? Thats a nice room you got going there, very nice.
