hello all!!! Another stressful week here at HOG's place!
Dam.......I can't take these things anymore!! LOL!
Last hurricane we had power on in 45 hours. This time we have 4 lines down on my street alone. This storm was much worse then Frances. Much heavier winds and ALOT more rain. Everything flooded.......yards....streets ect...... Not alot of things blown down.....most came down with Frances. The ones with roof damage suffered more damage. No one had time to repair anything between the two storms. Everybody is on edge and just kinda in a state of shock. By far the worse storm I have seen and I think the worse that has come through Florida in 100 years. My Central A/C was ripped from my house outside and I have some leaks under kitchen sink.....bathroom.....and my closet. I think we had soooo much rain and flooding it just soaked under foundation.
Sunday morning we knew power would not be on due to the amazing light show the power wires put on during hurricane. Huge pops and huge ambers fling all over the street. All though it is the cause of no power......it was awesome to watch! I can definetly say I have been through the worse hurricanes in 100 years. At 5am when the eye wall was over us.....the winds outside were 120++......Totally awe striking to watch. Amazing how some things remained standing. I think the worse sound I heard was the day after..... I was standing outside in backyard looking at damage and the sounds of distress and panic from all the wild animals were just heart breaking. Birds were in a panic flying and squaking. I am sure 90% of them lost their homes.

So....in a mad dash to make sure we would not lose our plants......we had to get a couple generators. We were able to score a 6500 watt and a 4000 watt generator. Both take about 5 gallons of gas and run for about 10-12 hours. We had to move the Newlines table and the 3x3 with my testers and table in with the buckets. It is a 15 x 12 cement block workshop.....err grow room now..LOL!! I have just one 1000w on the Newlines and one on the 3x3 and one on the buckets....with a window a/c.
It is going to work out for the best I think......just alot of work and stress!!!! Very cranky and tired!! The other generator is running the two houses....fridge....TV....Satellite ect.....
The seedlings fared the worse.....I think I will lose a few.....but the rest look strong.....

Here some pics of the madness......

Wow!!

I was worried about you, HOG! But I knew you would pull through...

After this season, I'll bet more folk down there will be investing in the LP Type Generators... Permanent installation, like a central air unit, with automatic failover. Pretty slick, if you have never checked 'em out...

Heh! Skip Cali, and come to Missouri! All we have are tornadoes! Oh, and lottsa Bible Belt Baptists! LOL... Our mj laws are amongst the worst of the nation... :(

I won't even ask what they raked you for those generators! They're like Hen's Teeth right now, I would imagine...

Hog, how are you doing? I know what it's like to go through a hurricane. I went through the fiercest one of all, Hurricane Andrew. I know how it sucks to not have water, refrigeration, ice, and air conditioning in Miami in August. Argh!

Andrew came during our rainy season so our houses never had a chance to dry out. The mold and mildew was totally out of control. Mosquitoes were multiplying like crazy, and there was no escape. Even after the roads were cleared of hurricane debris, we were constantly getting flat tires from all the roofing nails on the road.

I carried buckets of dirty water from the swimming pool up four flights of stairs to be able to flush the toilet and rinse out the filth that blew in during the storm. I'm sooo glad I wasn't there at Melborne for this one.

So, what ever happened to your unknown monster?

You have the generator to run your lamps and refriderator, but is it enough to run your a/c too? How are you keeping your temps down?

hey tropical.....
All the above you just mentioned is going on here. Mosquitoes are out of control!!!! The one generator is 6500 watts and runs 3 lights a window a/c and the pumps and timers. The other powers the two houses for TV...PS2....a couple lamps and some floros and a fridge.
Hey buzzbob.....we were lucky enough to know some very cool people who let us borrow the generators. A good one runs from 800-1200.....if you can find one. All you hear in the nieghborhood is generators!!!

I still do not have power.....but my cable is working so I can use my cable modem and power the copm off the generator. They say by Friday..we should have power..

That's great news. I remember people had to wait a month or more after Andrew. I heard the wait this time could be even longer because the linemen are exhausted and want to go back home.

But... what finally happened to that unknown monster?

Yeah, if I had a monster like that and saw a Cat 3 hurricane coming my way, I would have chopped the sucker down and used it to make a lot of Cannabutter... which would have promptly spoiled from lack of refrigeration. Oh well. I tried using vegetable oil one time instead of butter because it has a longer shelf life, but I couldn't separate it out from the water.

I can already feel the shortages here.Even though I am broke.there is no good meds around and they said it was because of the hurricanes. I hate being sick with no meds. And I'm still in the veg stage:( If anyone could help me out Id apprecite it. I would be sure to return the favor:) thanks.
Anyway I am almost afraid to put anymore out this year because Im afraid I will loose them in a big storm again. And i would not be able to bring them inside before the storm due to their location.Cant have any plants where I live.(small inside grow at a different location then where I live).

Im glad to hear some of the Florida growers are coming back around.Hopefully some of the commercial growers get going, because It sucks being sick with no meds:( thanks guys,Mike

Well, this seems like as good a time as any to join the conversation. Been reading it for a while now.

Y'all have a fun September? :D

Now it seems like the month that never was... except for the missing trees, shingles, buildings, etc.

Twelve days without power made me glad I chopped everything right after Frances. It was too soon and everthing was too small. Thank goodness for my bubblebags.

I was bumming pretty bad, and I had too many other things to put back together before I could turn my attention to the garden...

BUT I still had a few of my Happy Thoughts. Five DP Blue Moonshine seeds, to be specific. I planted 'em Monday night, and the first three popped up this morning. (Yay!) I'll post pics of the babies when I got more time.

I've really enjoyed reading y'all's posts, and I'm happy to finally be joining in.

Peace

P.S. Oh yeah, I have nearly full packs of White Rhino and Northern Lights PI as well. They're for later. Gypsy, I turn and bow in your general direction.

I do that pretty frequently, actually...

For those of you just tuning in, my entire grow got done in by the evil twin sister hurricanes. This is an update on my new garden, which I am starting with Blue Moonshine from Dutch Passion.

One week old and looking good.

Two of the five seeds have not popped. Ten days after planting, I have sadly concluded that they are duds. Ah, well. C'est la vie, eh?

Does this look ready to smoke yet?

Have I mentioned that it REEEALLY SUCKS to be completely out of weed?

By my calculations, it will be:

1 (more) week in the germ chamber
4 weeks in the veg chamber
2 weeks in the clone box
4 more weeks in veg
8 weeks in the flower chamber (if there are any females,) and
1 week of drying, which equals

<gulp>

TWENTY WEEKS until I have anything to put in my pipe.

Holy shit, now I'm depressed. Wish I had a little weed to cheer me up.

DOH!

Where the fuck are all the Floridians?

Where the fuck are all the Floridians?

Jeez, I've gone and killed the entire thread with my self-pitying rant!

Anyway, I'm a little calmer than I was nine days ago... I recalculated my grow times, knowing that what I posted before was a bit on the conservative side.

I also decided to put these plants into flower as soon as I take cuttings, rather than waiting for the cuttings to be ready. So that shortens my wait by about 6 weeks. AND it has been a week and a half since then... so I'm down to like 12 weeks... 84 days...2016 hours...

Anyway, here are the girls at day 14, right before they went into 1-gallon pots and under 24-hour lights.

2976Day_14-med.jpg

Calling them girls all the time when I really don't know kind of reminds me of a song... anybody remember this?

I'm a boy, I'm a boy,
but my Ma won't admit it
I'm a boy, I'm a boy,
but if I say I am I get it...

Rock on brothers and sisters...

and you Florida growers POST something, f'chrissakes! If I can't smoke any Florida bud for a while, I at LEAST want to SEE a little.

:)
