Just mho, but in FL, with LEO the way they are, I NEVER run flowering lights at night. Kinda beacon coming into the 'cold' months.

Got any pics GD? Im kinda confused here. Are you actually growing in the attic? I have my giant 8in carbon scrubber in my flowering room on a 8in can fan exhausting into the attic. Not hot air at all, I have 6k all in cool tubes intaking direct a/c air, and exhausting into the attic as well, with central ac blowing into the room. So basically NONE of my air is ever hotter than 81deg. fly over Area 51 in 10ft of snow, and not shit would be melted off, lol.
Switch your 15 amp breaker to 20. And if you wanna really drop your electric, switch it to 240. IF you are using switchable digital ballasts,or ballasts that can switch. Running like I do, noise is no issue either. You cant hear anything in the living room, let alone outside. and thats with 2 full rooms going.
Maybe Im too stoned and reading into it too much.

Be back in an hour to try again, lol.

yea sorry, i thought i said it confusing when i was writing it.
only thing in attic is the vortex 8 and the filter its hooked too.
1. so if i just switch the breaker on the panel it will do 20 amps? that should be plenty.
2. i havent purchased ballasts yet, what does it take to switch to 240, sounds complicated.
i was very very concerned about running them at night. i did cover my whole rooms upper half with ir blocker, but still.3. so should i just do 6am-6pm? now im doing 24 but its summer and its just a 400w
the fan is the only thing, its just kinda loud, and its not even on full blast i hope i wont need it to be on more when i add the 2 600s
I really do not want to add ac in there, so i guess ill just keep my house 75 or less.

ill get some pics in a bit

1. yup. make sure its same brand. REAL easy to switch breakers to 240. Gonna have to buy some wire and a few breakers.
2. HTG Supply in Melbourne has Digital greenhouse ballasts, same I use and you dont have to do shit. They switch internally, just have to change cords coming out of the ballast, and they have both cords, I bought both cords so if I wanna just run one light, I still have a 120 cord.
3.for flowering definitely. I do 8-8. veg is 24hrs, only 2k, and veg lights dont really get hot, imho. Yes they are a hotter Kelvin 'temp' but I would say until your using a HUGE veg room, dont worry about 24hr. I use it.
Why not bring your carbon scrubber into the room and just exhasut the air out into the attic? or youexhausting OUT of the carbon scrubber? ick if so...

hope that helps?

thats the only way i can keep things cool, whats the general consensus on that?really a bad idea or just personal preference?i tried to run it during the day before because i didn't want any ir signature at night but during june to september its impossible,i see 100f with a window unit.

switching to 240 literally cuts your amps in HALF. So if your running a lot fo lights like me, thats SERIOUS! Even can help if you are running ONE light.

MUCH more efficient to put the scrubber in the flowering room, just have the 8in fan pulling the air through the carbon scrubber, scrubbing the air in the room, and just have ducting from the other side of your fan to the attic, thats what I did. I assume it makes for a lot less work for the fan.

Howdy good drown, welcome aboard.
I agree with 'whiskey, I use my flowering lights during the day.
Graham Purwatt, curious as to why you were seeing such high temps with a window unit. Do you mind giving a little more detail? How big was the room? How many lights? Air cooled? AC unit size, etc.
Oh, using flowering lights during the day is a personal choice, but it's a wise one. For the reason you already stated and a few others. I'd rather pay a higher juice bill using an AC than taking a chance on some maverick cop snooping around with IR.
This is the worst state for growers, and I've had first hand experience with a dirty cop and a prosecutor who pursued the bullshit all the way through 2 jury trials (first one was a mis-trial). Yes, I was acquitted, but I was facing 25 years if found guilty.
Anyway, let's here 'bout your set up and maybe we can help you cool it better.
Peace, Evl.
PS, Welcome, Graham Perwatt:D

thank you all for the welcome, i love it here!
what about the air that each reflector is sucking in? since there will be 2 reflectors sucking in just as much air, or more since the pressure is almost nothing compared to the filter, wont it not do that good of a job? also without the scrubber connected to the fan, its going to be louder.
i got the biggest filter i could, its like 4ft and almost 100lbs.

Same filter I got....you do connect the fan to it...then run the ducting into the attic.
Use one inline ducting with both hoods on it. I got one 6in pulling air through 3 1kw cool tubes, so yeah, it will be fine for 2 600s...lol

Here you go OGH. Another 2 weeks and she's finished.

This is a Schnazzleberry#2 that my stupid ass didn't clone, and it turns out to be the star (so far, a smoke report will seal the deal) outta the pack of seeds:wallbash: She reeks of some type of thick sweet motor oil. It's the only way I can describe it. Also, she is by far the stickiest most trich covered plant I've grown in a long time.

definitely nice buds! ok,i am running a 600 watt in a poly tent,5x5x7h inside of a 8x10x8h room that has no central a/c.the window unit is outside of the tent.i also run 250 watts of cfls in there for veg and mothers which contributes a little heat.everything is exhausted through the scrubber which is in the tent.scrubber to easy cool 6 hood to fan(170 cfm centrifugal)to a duct that runs straight outside.any fresh air is brought in under the door except when the a/c is on.i can run during the day most of the time but like i said, june to sept its impossible, temps shoot up to 84 in there with nothing on.i even shut the veg down from 12pm to 6pm just to keep the heat down, the i have to turn the a/c on 2 hours before the hps comes on to get the lights out temps down lower than lights on for a little while, otherwise its 84f and up lights out and 78f to 81f with the lights on.i would love to be able to run during the day again,i just don't think its possible with the crappy job they did building this room.i'm about ready to kool seal the roof to reflect some of the heat.any chance a bigger fan would do the job?it'd be great if i could lose the 650 watt window unit and replace it with a new 600 watt hps

nice nuggage evl & Boo

i run my lights at night i only run 800 watts tho vented into attic but the room is never over 82 and is in the hottest area of the house also my attic when its 70 outside is still 88 as for the 1 or 2 weeks it gets colder i have a spot where i tapped into my supply duct i just reroute my exuast to help heat the house :D there gonna hit on my comp be4 they hit on my room its more watts and closer to a outside wall :D

if i was runnin over 2k then it would havta b during the day tho i know for a FACT that in whiskeys area they fly with the ir ON every night they might not be looking specificly for u but if u light up like a beakin they will b at ur place at the end of the pilots shift for a knock and talk bout 8:15 am :Bolt:
