So that stem will re-veg and then you can take a clone from it? Never tried that myself but I have one pheno that I wish I had a mother of that hasn't been cut down yet, may have to try this.

CG just wanted to give you a little update. This is 1 of the plants that I am Re-vegging. I harvested the plant just over 3 weeks ago. It is already taking off. FYI I cracked the seeds for the 4 Amnesia x TT you see in the picture the same day.

Thank you very much, that's really cool and I'll be doing that next week. Surprised by now you haven't taken off the nug though since you already have a nice viable branch? Are you going to make this a mother, or take a cutting from this, trash it, and start a new mother / next round of flower with that clone?

I ask because a while back I had a plant have a light fall on it and all the branches were gone except 1, and it was 3-4 weeks into veg so it was pretty decent sized. I figured it would be screwed, but if anything, that one branch then had an entire 5 gallon bucket of roots to make use of and really took off quickly and flowered out at 80% of what the undamaged plants ended up yielding. So it seems that you don't have to take a clone and make a new mother, you could just make your re-veg plant your new mother, right?

CG...

I haven't decided yet as to whether to make it a mother or take clones and make a mother from them. It is going to depend a lot on how the Amnesia and WFA x TT crosses do. The re-vegged plant is just unknown bag seed. It's great smoke and everyone I have shared any with loves it but it has a tendency to hermie.

I just flipped some plants to flower. I am going to let everything grow as is until I find out if the Amnesia and WFA crosses are ready when this batch finishes. If the new genetics is ready I will take a few clones just to keep the genetics and destroy this one once they root. If the new stuff isn't ready the re-vegged plant will be big enough in a couple weeks to get as many clones as I need for another run.

As for the buds. The current new growth is coming out from the very base of the buds and the new branches are not very strong yet. I'm afraid if I try to take the buds now that I may also break off the new growth. So for now I'm just going to train it and let it make lots of branches. It will probably be a 1 time mother at most though.

Due to the way re-vegged plants branch though they are excellent for mothers.

How cold did it see? I know my peppers can take a few nights in the 40's, and even a night or two in the 30's (on the car port).

Also, dont trash it, water and keep fertilizing it, peppers can look complete dead, and they will come back life. So there is hope for it, and it should recover if if you want to spend the time on nit.

It was like 40F the last couple nights around here. After 1-2 nights it was ok then it got bad yesterday, looking dead. I wait to see what happens, as the high today is 70F I think. Thanks for the advice, I would have just harvested the peppers and trashed it.

Still healing. Twas a fookin helluva surgery that's really putting me through changes. Ill be around in a few weeks, after physical therapy is done bitch slapping me :cuss:
Be well AL, physical therapy sucks ass but its usually the best things you can do. I F'd up my shoulder at the gym big time. Took me almost a year to get back to 80%. Was so discouraged I saw an orthopedic surgeon for the Bucs/Rays/Lightning. He did imaging and confirmed that it was healing, never needed surgery but also said that it was one of those things that is harder to heal the older that you get and that I may never recover the full strength I had before the injury.

I often scoff at the money that pro athletes make but when I think of the physical shit they deal with on a daily basis, and the pain they live and play with, I sometimes wonder if it's really worth it.

Jason will you link me to the cree cob thread? I think I'm looking at the wrong one.

Google SupraSPL, he's here but also active on a bunch of other forums and he has a bunch of good threads.

At this point I would suggest Cree CXB3070's. The CXB3590's are cutting edge, but it's hard to find a good driver match and even then you have to run them at around 50-60% to get the best efficiency and life if I remember right.

I dumped some cash on CXA3590's last year and ended up burning them up so this time around I went back to 3070's where it's easier to find drivers and I've had previous success.

Honestly unless you have heat issues (my garage grow) or space issues I would stick to HID. I'm certain that I'm gonna have a huge learning curve to figure out the best pot size and plant size under LED's in this space.

Jason and DP thanks for the info. I've been distant to LEDs. but, since I've been seeing more and more people using them with good results and with these FL farmers out my way eye balling the new mmj laws... they're eye balling all kinds of shit from LEDs to HID wanna be Gavitas to complete turnkey hydro grow op greenhouses/warehouses (lights to tables to nutes) and everything in between. it's a trip to see some of these brochures. Names of equipment that I've never heard of. and of course all kinds of LED products.

I think it'd be profitable to get in on the ground floor of FL mmj. Just, I'm sure I won't be able to grow but, I can be a rep/dealer for their equipment...

some of thes guys don't know the difference between an HID ballast and a CFL ballast. trying to screw in a 100 watt cfl into a 600 watt HID don't work out so good...

but they can sure grow...

Coba when they legalize you can come work on mi finca. I got 30 acres that im gonna turn into a sativa lovers paradise. Maybe i will have to build a bed and breakfast and offer eco excursions and canoe/kayak tours that are smoker friendly. Imagine a bed and breakfast on a working farm that everything you consume was grow right there. Man i got big plans when i dont gotta fear for my freedom anymore.

Thanks man, definitely impressed with the cree cob LEDs. First time running them and they exceeded my expectations, perfect for my little grow area.

Well, I have no experience w led lights... Always ran the big 1ks because I hear that led lights don't pack the punch of putting on weight.... That's just what I've heard now.... I know their super expensive. Are u getting better weight w those instead of using hps?? Clue me in!! I know one thing.... Those bugs looked heavy fosho!! Thanks for getting back to me!!

Hey coba, I have a buddy that runs an LED lighting company. He's been trying to get me to run his lights for a while. I think seeing Jason's work might have just pushed me to trying them out. Anyways, I'll send u his info. He's a close friend of mine. He's saying that his are actually adjustable to the consumers likings... He grows his own like us . I'll send u n Jason his info.....

Coba, I like your shtyle!! I love to grow vegetables. One of my biggest priorities n life is making my family self sustainable. There's so much satisfaction in growing your own food. Now that I'm back to work making some good cash, I'm gonna start acting on my dreams n getting a small chunk of land n raising poultry, goats, pigs n recycling their waste to fertilize my vegetables..... Think about how much money we would save that way.... No more eggs for 5 bucks a carton.... Better, healthier good w no nasty ass pesticides.!!! Man, I'm loving the east coast thread!!

Copper, not the biggest I've grown (have used 600w HPS in past) but this was also a pheno search round where half my space went to males at the start and I didn't do long veg because of that.

Next round will give me better idea how they compare.

Thought I would put in my $.02 on the LED issue.

I have not grown at all with LED but I have a lot of experience with them from my years in the Marine Aquarium hobby. The nice part about LED is they do not radiate as much heat downward as an HID lamp does. This allows you to keep the lights closer and they have a smaller footprint, however they do still put out a lot of heat. For Aquarium use this means less heat gets into the water and running duct work for air cooled lights for an aquarium doesn't look very nice, but in our uses that heat still goes into the grow room so the slightly lower heat is only a minimal gain for us. I think an air cooled HID can put off less heat into the grow area than an equivalent LED.

LED also has issues with penetration unless you use some type of lens to focus the light. This means you have to add more LED to get the same coverage. From what I have seen to get same coverage as a 1000w HID you need about 800w of LED. Although that is a decent savings in electricity the initial cost of LED tends to negate any real savings. LED manufacturers claim a 20 year life on LED but the drivers don't last any longer than a digital ballast.

If you are a commercial grower the cost savings on electricity could very well make LED worthwhile but for the average guy with a single 4x4 tent or even just a small room I personally think LED is not worth the cost.

To give you an idea what I mean about cost,I looked at the parts list for Jason's DIY lights. Just pricing the 3 main components; 8 LED Chips @ $32 plus 2 ballast at $60 plus the $80 heat sink has it at $500 without any of the other parts. For $500 I can buy 2 600W air cooled HID. It will be a long time to make up double the cost of purchase for a small grower, even if you count replacement bulbs. So unless you absolutely need the low footprint of LED or the lower heat I think HID is the way to go for small growers.

Again this is just my $.02
