Unreg190 - Why do you add so much water? Since the thc isn't water soluble, it seems that would just be bad? Never heard of doing this, thus why I'm asking. Always just used straight butter and then filtered out the solids with cheese cloth.
Everyone - What can be done to prevent mold during the dry? Just got mold on the two largest colas. One was white hairy mold from the inside of the bud through about 50% towards the surface and the other was a dark black / brown mold that I assume is bud rot in reality and was much thicker and widespread inside the bud. I know there was some poor airflow in the back corner where that cola was, so I think the problem came from pre-harvest.
My main concern right now is that I set aside the two big colas in a bag labeled mold. But what about all the other buds? Should I expect that the entire crop is lost or just that portion? Any other precautions to take? Never had this issue before.
Everything was dried by cutting the fan leaves off, hanging upside down, and the plant was scrog'd. Everything was dried in a tent with the carbon fan at 50% and a small oscillating fan on the floor pointed at the wall, not directly on the buds. Everything else seems to be fine at the moment and just went into cure jars.
Lastly, the stuff that has the mold, is it true it could be blasted without ill effect or is there no saving it, just pitch them?

Didn't realize I couldn't edit my above post, so sorry for the two posts.

After further research, I'd say some of this is powdery mildew, and some is bud rot. The mildew is concerning since there was no foliar feeding. However, like I said, it came from the inside out, so maybe it's not powdery mildew?

Very nice man! Skunkva just seems to dominate in all the seeds I've popped so far...everything has been a little finicky...even the Chem d x chem91...but all seem insanely potent...

See how dirty the water looked first go around........then one skims the butter from the top and does another wash with more hot water....each time the water becomes more clear as the undesirable's get poured down the drain. The butter becomes more pure each wash. Better taste in end product.
New to edibles myself.....but that's how I understand the process.

I have so many seeds I need to grow out, but you've talked so highly of the Kali Mist and Satori that I may just have to pull the trigger this summer and run them in the fall.

The Kali comes from Serious Seeds. I can vouch for both strains....the Satori is da get stuff done shit. Wonderful buzz but functional.
Am looking forward to the Florida Gold. Have a friend who tells me there were some damn fine strains coming outta Florida in the 80s' - 90s. But I expect to be disappointed.

so i turned my light up to 100% power the other day. ...
then i turned it back down to 50% lol. plants are too tall for all that. i'll try again next run with shorter plants.
least i got a quick sample to smoke.

I haven't tried any yet......but plan on eating one...waiting a bit and then another. I used 60 g trim/larf w/ 2 1/2 sticks of butter.....and ended up with 1 1/2 stcks of the canna butter. Used that and a 1/2 stick of regular butter since recipe called for 2 sticks.
The second plant I ever grew was Satori.....and gotta say I liked the smoke....A LOT
Every now and then I check to see if any more seeds have been offered but sure I read Satori is now only sold feminized.

Well looks like going to have to harvest early. Lost all power to my garage yesterday. Breakers are good so has to be underground wiring someplace. Can't get an electrician out with the garden. Only a week shy but still going to suck.
