Wow - that didn't take long!! Glad you did the test for us. Perhaps you can get them to withdraw their claim that it works with digis to save somebody else's grow from burning down if they aren't there when it fails...
Yeah this was with my 1k magnetic not digi glad I didn't try my digi on it,now my shits all fucked up plannin on manually flippin til I get this fixed, was thinkin bout just goin and buyin 2 new fatter lamp sockets and swappin them both out myself, looks like the L.E.D lamp on indicator wire suffered a little aswell so was thinkin maybe sendin it in and still replace the lamp sockets because the stock ones look chinsy right off the bat
I like your last idea - send it in and they will likely send you a new one with no damaged components, and will have the opportunity to learn about the weakness of their current design. I'd send them a very strong letter making sure they understand how dangerous a situation they create when they fail.
I wouldn't feel comfortable running it without turning off the power to the ballast during the flip.
Well, I'm extremely surprised by that. But one thing I can say is that we're not the type of company that runs and hides when we here of a problem from a customer.
It's very unlikely that there was a short in the lamp socket. The lamp sockets are made by DSM&T, the same company that makes all of the lamp sockets for all of the major manufacturers. They are not 'chinsy' as you say - they are the standard.
Without seeing the unit in person, I can't make an accurate diagnosis on what happened. Green_thumb - I know you have credibility on this board, judging by the # of posts you have. But in fairness, the thing that comes first to my mind is that you opened the unit up prior to this incident to have a look at it. Everytime I hear something like that, it makes me wonder a little bit.
So - what do you want to do? I have no problem resolving the situation for you in any manner you see fit. This is one thing I do know - we have way more than enough units out there to have gauged the effectiveness of the product and to have an accurate sample of any problems reported - of which there have been none like this.
I'd like to see the unit in question and I have no problem sending you another one in exchange.
Also, as far as digi's go, sometime soon, I'll post a video of the product in action with digi's. There is no question they work.
Hey thanks for replying,I only took the back off to point a flashlight into it to find the burnt spot and where it came from its definetly the lamp socket, and the ballast is a sunlight supply 1kw 120v 60Hz
Really? That's strange. Just a few posts back you were describing the parts lists on how to build a flip yourself and describing how you build them. LOL
I don't want to get into beef with powerbox, but here is a diagram of my setup as some were asking how its done. just too easy to post the diagram from the website. I use 4 ballasts in 8 light rooms.
Never any beef here bro. I'm all about just putting the info out there. I met the owner of Horti last year & he's a completely cool guy. At the time I met him, I told him we had no plans of doing a Flip - but our customer demand was just too high to ignore, so we did - that's just business. Am I worried that people will choose their units over ours? It doesn't realy matter - they build a good unit. No single company will ever own 100% of the market share. And if you want to do it yourself, it's not that hard to do - that's why I've got no problem showing & listing the components we use. Now, is everything going to work for everyone 100% of the time? That answer is obvious. The value we offer if that we are a real company, we carry product liability insurance, and you can buy our products in around 200 stores in the US. I'm not plugging our stuff - just providing info. BTW - i guess the user name GS is blown - I'd never try to hide my identity and plug our products. That's just how we roll. As far as the problem that is publicly going on on this thread with one of our units - that will be resolved once we see what caused the problem - I just don't have an answer for you on that yet. But I do know that we have enough units out there to be confident enough to know that our Sh*t works.
Anyway - one love to all - choose what's best for you & get the job done. No hard feelings here.
your absolutely right, man. I see a solid product on your end as well. you are totally helping this thread by contributing. So many get frustrated understanding the applications of a flip box. I know your boxes work. I have heard good things. Flips are pretty simple products. I'm sure it was fluke. cool man, I'm just promoting horti because I know the owner too and actually was a retailer of the product for some time. I sold his units 4 years ago when he was just putting them out and I have had only 1 come back. I used equalizers and Zapp boxes but they all had issues. look at the HID smart.. WTF was that BS product???? anyway. glad to hear powerbox is working out.
Yeah its way cool your on here helpin out with your product,I in no way ment any negativity towards the flipbox btw,I can't wait to get it back to yall so I can get back up and goin
Well guys service with a smile, powerbox believes the problem was with the LED indicators and is sending me not only a new unit with improved led indicators but a 2nd unit with no indicators that's fuckin sweet!! 2 new flip units, now I just need another to setup 4 lights off one ballast
