First timer soil!

Well Im using sunshine soil. It's pretty good mixture from what I can see. Nutrient rich for veg state. I guess I'll know in a couple days if I did it right! Lol

How long does it take to pop out of soil? They have a very solid nice taproot.

And when should I lower the light? It's LEd so I ran it 14" off the top on last plant but not sure with seedlings/autos

Still at large...
seedling with good vigor, planted 1" down = 2-3 fastest the rest could be close to a wk, really depend on those seeds vigor, weather they want to get the fv(k to it...lol

with the LED I would start at 2ft away, watch them. If they start stretching for it then lower it,by 6 inches at a time, but if they shy away (welt/fall over) raise it. got to find that sweet spot.
As they get bigger so wont their tolerance for light, wanting more........
I would think you might injoy soil, its the same attentive wise but a little more forgiving.
so you said you run hydro? if ya dont mind me asking why the switch?

Ahhh my back and fingers,.....lol......... BRB gotta burn some med.'s

Hopefully they wanna pop the F out. There autos! So there made to be fast lol. and they prob had 1" tap roots before I planted them.

With my other plant, I ran the LED about 12" away during veg, 10" during flower, and she loved it! There only 3W diodes so not as penetraing as the 5W.

Yes sir I did run hydro, I figured with auto flowers I should try soil. As you said, little more forgiving. Hydro something fucks up im not there 24/7 to watch it and correct it! And with such little veg time that might of been a problem. This is only my third grow so still learning:)

And the fact I didnt wanna deal with multiple buckets and pumps, blah blah lol I just did 1 plant last time single bucket DWC was simple and neat!

yeah autos huh?, they should automatically get right the F to it..lol
I here ya about not being around all the time, kinda why I'm not into it that and all the equipment like you said. I wouldnt mind doing it, DWC caught my attention maybe one day...............but as of right now organic soil is being good to me and the ladies.
Still gotta be attentive with soil but I can water my 3gal. pot and not have to worry for 3 days+. kinda helps with work and the fam.

Lol that's what I'm hoping!! There prob not gonna be massive yield. Since I'm not running the MH on this one. 300w LED for 5 plants. Little under powered but the MH gets to hot. Even with 6" exhaust. I might order another one of what I got make it 600w.

But really just want a quick turn around make up from what I lost from other plant being hacked.

My buddy is growing a GDP so I think I'm gonna take cuttings and do a SOG next:) or take a stab at it lol

heat is a biggie, check out "my hide out" thread in my sig.
I run cfl's because of space/heat. you could run that LED and maybe 4-6 23 watters, cheap, simple and effective

Ya I thought about making a cfl strip for both side of te room with 3 in each just for that little extra light. Would help with lower branches to. They can stay pretty close to the plant can't they?

yes they can, all the way to about touching.
home depot has everything I used to make my lights, couple of sockets, Y's, ect..
the Y's are very useful I make up a four light rigg 4@ 23watts and 1600 lumens, these i use because of there price is very cheap (4 for 5-8$) and looking at the ratings for watts vs. lumens they are up there. plus you can switch them in and out for veg and flower or mix........... just some food for thought
another hint with the use of cfl's run them at an angle or sideways for best results ( The Y's help with that)

Ya I think I'm gonna invest in some how far away can they be and still be effective? I'll be able to adjust them every day but would be useless if I just have them on the walls like 10" away from the plant??

anything 10" and closer you would benefit nicely.
i try to run them 6'' and closer, when I am able to adjust daily/every other.

Heres a couple pics!

you should start seeing them all with in the first 3-4 days. water good then wait until they get dry first 1"-1 1/2" of soil ( youll feel the cup gets lighter) apply water, then repeat... should be in good shape

I can see all but one poking through right now. Would Using a spray bottle be ok? Or should I jusg pour the water in around the plant to get it moist

either or, remember their root are really small and they dont drink much........... spraying them is ok between watering to moisten the top layers.
Remember with sprout-lings your building root mass... dont want to drowned them, soil needs to dry a little but not too much. you wouldnt go out to get a beer if theres one always next to you....

best advise is get too solo's fill both with your soil, water one leave the other........notice the difference.

Sorry if this is redundant..............medicated over here, # 1 killer of plants in a newb setting, is over love..........I had to learn that, but you've done hydro so you have a grasp on it

Haha love the comparison. Ya I understand the concept of it like making roots chase the water in hydro system.

Ya I got the spray bottle just to keep it moist my humidity not very high. Winters coming so it's dry here.

Well all of them are popped up! About an inch tall, first set of leaves growing.

Should I be on 18/6 lights right now? or 24 hours for a little bit longer.

I have used Ocean Forest potting soil the last couple years, and its second to nobody...............never need to feed in veg, give really low level flowering/bloom food at flowering.......have found less can be
more!!!!!!!

Well here is an update! 6 days in now. Looking as good as can be! Only have 300W on them right now, gonna hang 2 26W CFL lights over each plant once there in the 3 gallons. Not the ideal wattage I would like but its what I got. Lol until I can get another LED light in there.

There auto flowers for anyone who just joining in. Cream of the crop : Cash crop.

Little update! 5 days later from last pics. Growing fabolous! Just under the LED right now, should be adding more light as soon as transplant them :) Guessing they were working on root production. But should start exploding here soon!

The one in the close up is ahead of the pack by just a tiny smidge. But not far! All about same height!
