First outdoor grow, East coast style!

What's up everyone! Haven't been on here in a while usually hung out in hydro section. But doing my first ever outdoor grow this year!

I'm a little behind as far as getting the plants ready as they are not as far along as id like but works been crazy so here we go!

Location

Well...in the woods? Haha I'm on the east coast, Maine to be exact. Have about 7 acres on the property so my only big threat is animals. As no one knows I'm going outdoor.

Containers/soil

Hmm..this is where I'm not sure! I was thinking about running 10 gallon pots, keep it simple easy to move. But I also like the idea of planting them directly in the ground, prob a 2x2x2 hole filled with a sunshine mix. Any input on that would be appreciated!

Nutes

Going with Nectar of the gods line, pretty simple...I have a fresh water spring that runs where the ladies will be going so carrying water back is not an issue.

And of course...the ladies!

Everyone's favorite part right? Lol well here's the line up

X2 Skunk XXX
X2 Headband
X3 Blueberry headband
X2 Pineapple Express
X1 Mango haze
X1 Super skunk
X1 Super lemon haze
X1 Vortex

13 in total. I might cut down to 10 and keep a few of em indoors if I see there slacking a bit. Right now there in 2 gallon pots, not very big but on the back porch been pretty warm here!

The blueberry headband are still in solo cups in my window sill, there about 8" tall almost ready to go into 2 gallon for a bit.

Any advice would be greatly welcome! If not sit back and enjoy the show, should be interesting :)

Awesome! I love Maine. So is this a legal grow? Why do you need to move them? Go with the most soil you can for highest yield. Find a local soil yard and get some good soil by the yard. I'd get at least 100 gallons each plant. 10 Plants, 5 yards of dirt. Then you Can pull some weight.

When does it freeze over there?

Welcome to the show! And ya Maine is pretty sweet lol and I have my card so I can legally have 6...sooo I'm kind of over my plant limit haha.

It freezes about October average, depending on the year. So that's harvest month

And it would be a pain in the ass to lug the dirt where I want to put the plants not possible haha. Hence the pots, I might go bigger pots if that's the case? Maybe 20 gallon?

10 gallon pots will get root bound if they're early starts .. I reccomend 45 gallon smart pots .. Good luck and keep it green !! I love Maine .. I'm way overdue for a visit ..✌️

Well the way there growing they'll be rootbound in the 3 gallon in about 10-14 days I'm guessing then I'll be putting in final pots. Not sure if I classify them as early starts?

So I should def go bigger pots huh? 45 seems quite over kill haha idk though first outdoor !

Larger pots equal larger yield and less maintenance .. I say go for it .. It will be a nice experiment seeing which yields higher for you .. The pots or your holes .. Wishing you the best . Peace and big buds ✌️

Hmm I might give it a try, would be nice to not have to water so much. Given I work really long days and don't get in until it's dark 4 days out of the week.

They should make camo colored smart pots 😜😜 I have a couple locations picked out on the land get prime sun from 530 am until 6 pm, then it's not direct sunlight but come summer time I think it will be all the way u til about 830 pm.

Chicken wire is pretty much recommended against deer and other critters right? Have a lotttt of deer around here and we all know they love leaves haha. Also heard I can piss around where I have my plants to deter animals away??

Well damn:) guess you sir are correct haha! Not a huge deal about the camo, I have a lot of burlap laying around. And it's super green back there already, I have trail cams back there for hunting and have never seen 1 person back there in a year. Just being extra safe I suppose haha.

Ya unfortunately my grow area, is also my prime hunting area. Go figure haha. Who knows maybe it'll attract them in;)

First let me say I'm just teasing. Second, it seems like he's grown indoor before.. But so what if he hadn't? I used 300 gallon pots my first grow (ever). I like to dive in though. But I don't see why there's any reason to go that small unless money is an issue. But even then, if you start with good soil then you don't have to throw it away.

Ya I've been growing indoors for years, hydro mostly. So soil is still kinda fresh to me. Money's not an issue, just don't wanna bite off more than I can chew. I still have my indoor crop going, so not looking to make this my bread and butter. Just wanna het used to it! Def gonna stick with 30-45 gallon pots. See how it goes!

Plus up here in Maine, weather is so bi polar I might have fog for a month straight, I live on the ocean so salt is huge problem up here.

Update!

Quick update. When I transferred one of them to the 3 gallons I must not of watered it enough, looking kinda droopy, and pot feels way lighter then the rest of em! Kinda dry as well, gave it some more water. Hopefully comes out of it! Rest are all perky!! And here's a little peek at some fresh ones out of the cloner ;)

My muchc new going on! I FIM'd them so there getting a bit bushier. About 14" tall, gave em some nutes today for first time see how they react! Will post pics tomorrow!

I'm thinking about doing a raised bed for 6 of em! Any suggestions ? Is it a good way to tackle it ? Or should I just stick with my pots?

Little update, moved 3 plants into 20 gallon holes! They took the transplant nicely, let's see how they do :) out chicken wire around em for now while there small. Tons of deer out there.
